I don't look at it like that, that John is still asking the Messiah. I look at it like, "Wow. I am about to lose my head and just wondering if Christ will spare my life or? Hello? Anyone there?" I can never imagine sitting there and Christ KNOWS what is coming and oh well.
I like how Bahnsen put it (& prolly those before him, he's just where I heard it first), "without God you couldn't know anything": objective truth is rooted in the God of order, not chaos, subjectivity & ambiguity of every other worldview. God bless Jon & STR team, you're doing the Lord's work, I pray for you every chance I can!
Köstenberger et al., "Truth in a Culture of Doubt: Engaging Popular Distortions of the Bible" (Nashville: B&H, 2014), tackles Ehrman's comments one on one. It is an excellent book for someone who has questions and doubts after reading Ehrman.
I never saw J t B's question as doubt. I just thought that he really wanted to know how JC would respond as only the true Christ would respond and that he would just know based on JC's response. But I'm weird.
First off, there IS a lot…
Second off, John the Baptist never doubted. Not even in the womb.
I like the encouragement to move towards the object of doubt and confront it; don’t just leave it sleeping.
There are a lot more stupid people though.
