If you had continued watching the video you'd have seen his point that basically all the modern "gods" have been sleeping for most of the misery that human civilization and other species went through, only became relevant when humans became capable of this fiction.
If given a chance you'll take a grunt made by Hitchens out of context and start arguing against it
I am so gonna bring up this clip every time a theist tells me i cant have purpose or meaning as an atheist.
It is that mans interference that, eg. the introduction of rabbits and foxes into Australia has caused a lot of damage. We have many others that have been introduced, which end up causing big problems on our ecology and species to die out because of the huge burden on plant life. It is man, that is the problem!!!!!

Animals are content with many things about life.

GOD, named Yahweh, created Earth to function in His cycle for Heavenly bodies. The life created on Earth were to exist in balance. This means changing Earth cycles would necessarily make survival difficult for some species as changes occurred. Only Humankind was given dominion over the other animals on Earth.

I guess to a Christian flora and fauna diversity is of no importance. That one day with enough of species have gone extinct the Earth will experience an ecological collapse. But who cares, what matters is the kingdom in the next world and not this one right?

I think for Hitchens this was a brick in the wall of his argument from evil. So if you had brought this up to him, he would have pivoted to the related problem of suffering, effectively abandoning this first brick while pretending it's still intact and relevant.
