There is no “Word of God,” only words of men.
He assumes the Gospels are written my Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. How does he know this?
So we know the Bible is the word of god because it says so in the Bible. Got it
the most powerful and truest book is quran, not bible, without a shadow of a doubt
Science, duh
It is these things that turn so many forward-looking men and women away from Christianity and from God Himself. Just because some verses seem to be inspired by God doesn’t mean that the entire Bible is the Word of God. In fact if it was I would not worship Him, let alone give my life to Him. There are some seriously grotesque things written in the Bible that supposedly God said. Not to mention He would never test Abraham by ordering him to sacrifice his son. God doesn’t need to test him. He knows his heart and what he will do before he does it. He would never command anyone to go kill men, women and children. It’s abhorrent and we really need to start thinking for ourselves and not just believe a premade religion handed down by our ancestors. True religion is a personal relationship with God. There is no one true church. Simon Peter in his excitement unintentionally started a religion that day on Pentecost ABOUT Jesus rather than what he was suppose to do – a religion OF Jesus. Jesus never taught that He was going to die for the sins of the world. He taught about His loving Father and that we are His sons. He taught us to grow in a relationship with God that is purely personal and spiritual. It was never even suppose to be about Jesus, but our Father in heaven. After His resurrection and then ascension the Apostles were focused on Jesus and His sometime very soon return – the “Last Days!” It’s been the “Last Days” since Jesus left.
I like when he says how The Power of the Bible has changed more people lives for the good than any book ever written. That's key.
I'm interested to see how evangelicalism finds its way now that Bible scholarship and its history is more available. My religion went through this and it is not easy. its harrowing at times. prayers for you all and all of christianity navigating through it all.
You make this even more confusing
If the Bible is the word of God, what is Jesus? What is Dabar YHWH? The Bible's name is Bible. The Bible is not alive, nor can it give life. It is definitely not King of Kings and Lord of Lords, nor is its name called The Word of God, and nobody can know its name except "he himself." Also, you literally have no proof the Bible has changed more lives for good than any other book. If you are honest, you have to include all of the lives it has changed for the worse because of its misinterpretation, such as those who deny that Jesus Christ is The Logos.
I agree with the phrase, " The Power of The Bible". However I disagree with it changing more lives for the good! If you believe that then explain the millions of people in both present day and years past that have died because they chose to follow a different path!!!!!
The bible has changed more lives then any other book, how about the 1500+ years of murder, genocide, torture and destruction of cultures! Changed MANY lives. We seem to forget that.
You should have mentioned the fact that it was written over a period of 1500 years by 40 different men in three different languages across three different continents and despite that there is over 67 THOUSAND connections found from genesis all the way too revelations and everywhere in between. Yeah, no book that has ever existed can contend with that. That's divine power.
Short weak minded answer :” Because the book said so”..LMFAO 😅
Umm…did that even answer the given quration?
😮
the bible doesn't say itself is the word of God you ignorant hypocritical liars and matter of fact the bible verses recorded in the bible proves that Jesus Christ is the word of God and proves it is NOT the bible that is the word of God
hebrews 4:12 makes it quite clear that Jesus Christ Himself is the word of God not the bible itself and other bible verses proves it too
only a retard would think that the book made of paper and leather is somehow what discerns our thoughts and heart intents and is somehow what reads our minds
yeah that's how stupid most of you believers are smh most of you believers ya'll really should think before ya'll speak
most of you believers don't use you're brains anymore and most of ya'll don't even pray anymore
that's some of the reasons why most of you believers are so spiritually blind deceived, deluded, ignorant, foolish and such hypocritical liars smh
and ya'll are going to want to stop lying revelations 21:8 and 1corinthians 6:9-11 makes it quite clear that all liars go to hell along with many other types of people
john 10:25-30. john 5:38-44. hebrews 4:12. hebrews 10:26-27. 2 thessalonians 1:8-10
very true
Number 25: 7 "When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear in his hand 8 and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear into both of them, right through the Israelite man and into the woman’s stomach. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped; 9 but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000". Hmmm Yaweh has a temper tantrum; kills thousands of people. Later on in the chapter Yaweh considers Phinehas did a job well done, so now he doesn't have to be angry anymore! The word of God? I don't think so!
Raw!
Does 'changing lives' indicate truth?
Are there things that changed people's lives that you deem false?
Well, let's take the first 7 names of the first 7 Generations, Adam – Methuselah!! If you put the meaning of each name beside the name from Adam all the way down to Methuselah, this is what you'll see! "Man is appointed mortal sorrow, the blessed one will come down teaching and preaching, his death shall bring the dispairing rest and comfort"!!!🤔 This would only be possible if the creator of the universe designed it!!!🤔
I'm not convinced by what you said. Scripture affirms scripture? But how does that give us confidence that it's the word of God? What is the word of God?
That didn’t answer anything
Leviticus 19:20 sounds like a man not the words of God
This didn't really answer the question, did it? Because it improves lives?
How about fulfilled prophecy? Which can only happen if the source is outside of the time domain.
Or the intricate numerical structures that not even super computers could replicate?
Things like that which shows that it's actually supernatural.
Because the Catholic Church declared it.
Yes that’s exactly what happened.
Fulfilled Prophecy.
So basically, the bible says the bible is true….
When you are writing from truth, you will have consistency. The only way you can have multiple authors that span hundreds of years tell the same consistent truth is if that truth is coming from the same source. No singular author could have made up the Bible. They would have needed a team of editors and lore keepers to scrutinize every aspect of it. You can easily compare the Bible to the works of Mormons, Jevovah's Witness, and Muslims and see how they are very inconsistent and full of contradictions. You have that because they are not grounded in truth.
notice that question is of authorship and the response is 'the bible has done a lot of good for a lot of people.'
… which is dubious in the first place (what about all the damage it has done to so many people over centuries? just eg) and totally irrelevant to the question of authorship.
Actually, if you take the time to real the Bible you will understand. Only you can find the truth yourself by searching. God bless ❤
Thank you, Sir, and God bless.
It's like he didn't even try to answer the question.
you dont.
complete and utterly false. speculative, demonstratively uninformed of christianity's reason for, not only christianity but religion in general, inception. just think about this…what is the most popular religion on earth? so all yhose people are praying to that same god yes? look at the state of this world and look at the history of christianity. i mean you literally are promoting the sacrifice of someone as they get tortured. drink his blood and eat his flesh as symbology, and people are justified in their immoral acts because of how the god they see as loving is that says thats what love is ..promotion of ignorance, hypocracy, self-loathing, dependant on authority figure, disempowered, thought of to be the only ones with the truth without looking into what they belie e when its likely they believe the same so unnecessary division..i could go on how horrible christianity, as well as other religions, are and the complete degradation such things have done to our society. all being said you really should just not be mindless, your being used to promote our enslavement. wake up please
A lot of comments on here seem to misunderstand the point of this short. It isn’t to make a case for the truth of the gospels from the standpoint of the unbeliever. That isn’t what Sean is addressing here. Rather, he is saying that, if we grant that the New Testament writings are true, how do we know that they are the inspired Word of God? The line of reasoning would be something like this:
(1) If the NT writings are reliable in their claims of both natural and supernatural occurrences, then we can trust them to accurately give information about the status of themselves.
(2) The NT writings are reliable in their claims of both natural and supernatural occurrences.
(3) So, we can trust the NT writings to accurately give information about the status of the NT writings.
(4) The information within the NT writings tells us that the NT writings are inspired by God.
(5) So, there exists something we can trust that states that the NT writings are inspired by God.
From (5), a quick conceptual analysis can tell you that it is therefore reasonable to think that the NT writings are inspired by God.
Whether or not you agree with (2) is irrelevant. That isn’t the point of the short. The point of the short is to show how one can get from (2) to a reasonable belief that the NT writings are inspired by God.
Why should anyone care what the Bible say?
it's not
I would like to know the number of how many lives it has changed for the worst.
I'll ask.
Oh wait….
Theyre all dead.
