Our whole election system was created for in-person voting. We do not have the administrative infrastructure to guarantee a clean election, and absentee ballots are cast outside the guidance of election authorities and outside the existence of election observers.
The absentee tally system introduces substantial blind spots in the chain of custody. It remains in these blind spots where abuses often take place.

Hans von Spakovsky is an authority on a large range of concerns– consisting of civil liberties, civil justice, the First Amendment, immigration, the guideline of law and government reform– as a senior legal fellow in The Heritage Foundation’s Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies.
