I’m curious where the idea of speaking in church got connected to the idea of exercising authority over others?

Hey Matt. I watched the debate and I think that you put up a very good argument for the biblical position of how human responsibility and God's sovereignty are compatible with each other. I just want to say that I know Sonny personally and was actually involved in his movement and ministry for a while and he teaches that if someone doesn't understand or doesnt agree with Calvinism then that person cant be saved. They call calvinism "the gospel". I disagree obviously and I know you yourself do too. But Sonny is a hyper calvinist and I could sense that coming out in the debate. Hes slight rude and arrogant about this too. It seems the doctrines of grace have penetrated his mind but not his heart.

Ephesians 1*11 is brought up.
You point out "All things" as if it covers universal everything, even their decisions. (And their own thoughts?)
I think it's just summarizing everything suggested within the context OR within reason JUST LIKE Phillipians 4:13.

I do Not think that God plans out every little detail OR a person's thoughts; and then works them out to fit His own will.. (determining what they will be)
Now, maybe after Knowing what they will be, He works them out, in the sense of responding to them and planning for them.
God predestined things to happen whether we choose evil or good. If we choose evil then this will happen. If we choose good then that will happen. God predetermined the rules, the consequences, the influences, etc.. but this doesn't mean that God has made our decisions for us.

God predestined believers in Christ to receive an inheritance. This is what has been arranged beforehand. This is Not a guarantee for any individual believer in the sense that nothing can change it, but it means that it has already been arranged for us in general.
It's what will happen so long as we remain in Christ.
