The charge against the church at Sardis was that, in spite of their good reputation, they were dead. Unfortunately, if we are honest, this is what we usually wish for our culture, our churches, and our kids. How do we approach these things without simply polishing the outside of the cup?

Wow 15 years ago I left a church, that did not preach the full council of God, wrote them a letter, explained why I left. It took 5 years to find a real church, that I thank God for!!!! So many false prophets out there, and people don't know the word of God, so they are lead astray, so sad. Thanks and God bless for helping us all know the truth!!!!❤😅

I may be wrong today for leaving back home 2 days early. Bit O cannot take my daughter's ugly and disrespectful attitude towards me which got me super pissed, and for now I disown her as my daughter!! She blames me for messing her children's lives up, and that's one BIG FAT LIE!! That not only hurt but pissed me off!! I told her her needs Jesus and all she says is… " I know I still pray". She's so wrong and has a bad lying tongue lately!! I'm done with people who are ugly and treat me badly! What Was the Purpose of Water Baptism?
For the Jews and their “gospel of the kingdom,” water baptism was a required expression of believing faith.
We see in Luke 7:28-30 those that were baptized with the baptism of John, justified God, and those that chose not to be baptized, rejected the counsel of God.
Luke 7:28-30
28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
John’s baptism was a symbolic baptism. God tells us in Hebrews 9:22 that there is no “remission of sins” without the shedding of blood. At this time, Christ’s blood had not yet been shed.
Jesus spoke in Matthew 26:28 about His blood being the blood of the New Testament which is shed for “many” for the “remission of sins.”
Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
We see in Acts 2:38 that on Pentecost, Peter preaches repentance and baptism for the “remission of sins.” Christ’s blood had been shed, so “remission of sins” was available for those who by faith obeyed and were baptized.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
We see in Mark 16:16 where Jesus speaks of believing faith accompanied by obedience.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
In I Samuel 15:22 we are told “behold to obey is better than sacrifice.” Christ is the Lamb of God. He willingly sacrificed Himself upon the cross. Those under the “gospel of the kingdom” who believed in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, possessed obedient faith and were baptized.
Take the crying child outside. If your child is crying or screaming, you’re not paying attention and no one else is paying attention to the teaching. I’m listening online and I’m distracted by the crying child. Stop being selfish people and be considerate to your child and to the others who make the effort to come and hear a good teaching. Don’t be a tool of satan.

Just 6 verses in the letter to the Church in Sardis, but the exposition is immense. All letters to the different churches in a way, reflect the nature and character of modern churches today. The remedy is always the gospel-it starts the race, ensures one doesn't grow weary during the race and ensures we all finish the race. Praise God

I am changed forever and will never ever be the same; thank you GFBC and Pastor Voddie, I see the light indeed that I read with a judging eye yet I too do exactly the same and have been comfortable to the partial Gospel of called, chosen, pre-destined, victory, so loved, grace, mercy, kindness, breakthroughs, rewards, blessings, favour and shy away from examining my entire life properly including true and deeper (correct) understanding of CHRIST and the KINGDOM OF GOD. I know it will take me my whole life to learn and walk the proper GOSPEL and be all in counting the costs from word go and the Lord JESUS said all of this in the Gospels yet somehow I read with faint glasses instead of reading awake and take each word JESUS say literally and then obey. HE said i must die, I must carry the cross and follow HIM, I will be persecuted, i will have trials and tribulations, I must count the cost from the beginning, I must know though I am in this world but I am not of it and then HE modelled the life that we are called to…. let me stop bcz my mind is just buzzing. Thank you. All Glory and Honour and Dominion be to CHRIST our KING of kings and LORD of lords, the only one with Authority.
