    Sean, how do you discern between necessary suffering and not necessary suffering when you read through the New Covenantal Scriptures?

    I ask this question because, in Biblical verses like Mark 9:23 (in specific example: John 14:12-14 and Mark 11:22-24), the New Covenantal Scriptures make it clear that everything is possible for he who believes. So, if everything is possible for he who believes, then how much suffering is absolutely necessary, as opposed to being not absolutely necessary and, thus, self-imposed?

  11. Yup. In the first place the Gospel is called "The Gospel of Jesus Christ". Any other "gospel" is a "different gospel".

    I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

  12. On the one hand I agree that Christians shouldn't be surprised by tribulations but on the other I think we should be careful about criticizing preachers who are glorifying the name of Jesus. I think it was Peter who said that if anyone was sick they should call for the elders and they would be healed. He didnt say they might he healed but they would. This shows that despite the fact that Christians face all kinds of trials it is acceptable for leaders to tell them that they will receive healing from God (and wealth is just a small ad on compared to health). What this ultimately demonstrates is that it is pleasing to God for a preacher to exhort his followers regarding the power and goodness of God without laying down innumerable caveats. The simple fact is that the world is full of suffering and every one of us knows that in this life we will have pain, so, it is not a bad thing if some preachers are uniquely gifted to remind us that God also has good things for us. I say this as the son of a godly man who had fought parkinsons for 15 years (for those who know, it is infinitely more than just shaky hands). Remember, an exhorting pastor only has 1 hour a week to counteract the other 167 hours of life his flock must endure so I think we should be careful about condemning them for making statements no more faith filled than peter and jesus when they said the door WILL be opened.

    now I don't believe in the Prosperity Gospel as you seem to describe

    I do believe there are times that require full on faith in God and him alone, not your resources, there are some things that money cannot buy, and we must always remember that this is not our home we are merely traveling through

  21. There is no way you can read 2 Cor 8 & 9 without seeing that he explicitly wants your bills paid to abundance so you can care for others as well as as yourself. . No amount of suffering removes those chapters it's bible im sorry. Your point doesn't hold up. The devil wants you broke not God. I can suffer all you want but don't make take out important Bible verses. That's wrong.

  22. Thank you, Sean!! This has been such a “dark STAIN” on our American Protestant Christian Churches. I haven’t watched them on TV in forever! But i have definitely noticed how THEY KEEP TRACK OF ME, AND MY VIEWS. Frustrating!!!!😢

  24. 3 John 1:2 "…mayest prosper and be in health…". What about the scriptures that say "…give and it shall be given unto you..", "…according to HIS riches in glory…", "…30, 60 and 100 fold…". Mr. Jesse Duplantis can explain it far better than I but not better than the Bible itself. Yes persecution for the Gospel's sake in included with that prosperity.

I think there’s a disconnect here: that is, there is no such thing as prosperity gospel … just like there’s no such thing as a “prodigal” son… (the Bible calls him the lost son…) but anywho, the message of Jesus Christ, His shed blood on the cross , and himself as the sinless sacrifice for all mankind is what is prosperous about the gospel … that said, we can’t simple ignore the fact that there are scriptures that teach and demonstrate that when you are in Christ Jesus, you do enjoy a level of prosperity, if I can put it that way ….I know my God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus …. And I know God wants me to have life and more abundantly…but as Christians, we should be very careful not to expect that we will always have it all bc we wont … this life is full of pain and sufferings but with Jesus as a risen Savior and being guided and indwelled with The Holy Spirit of promise, HE MAKES ALL THINGS NEW!!!!!!

  29. The Devil told a Christian pastor you are worse than me for at least i believe and you don't ,The Master is in The Holy Eucharist .That means that alll religions are fake accept The catholic Church. There is No salvation outside the Catholic Church.

  31. Key phrase: "Read the ENTIRE New Testament." Alas, many who claim to be devout Christians haven't ever read their own Book all the way through. I'm not even Christian and I've read it. Oh, and guys? It's meant as a package deal, not just for you to cherry-pick the parts you like, and discard what you don't. Hypocrisy and heresy isn't a good look guys. I mean, believe what you wish, you do you. BUT, if you are going to claim a faith/belief system, maybe you might wish to actually follow what you profess to believe.

  32. Yes, many false doctrines: Prosperity. Baptismal-Regeneration. Speaking in tongues is THE evidence of one's salvation. Besides accepting Jesus as Savior, you must keep the Sabbath, be circumcized & eat Kosher. Anti-trinitarianism. You MUST repent of all sins prior to or upon receiving Jesus. Only a pre-chosen some can/will turn to Christ, all others are doomed from the womb: Calvinism.

  34. Pastor McDowell is PROOF POSITIVE that one can preach what's true & correct without being an off-putting, arrogant, 4-letter-word about it.
    Its SO disheartening that so many Americans bought into the idea that one simply cannot be nice AND do their job correctly & effectively at the same time… (whether their job is to preach the Gospel, or run the country).

I definitely can’t stand those tic tocs and insta reels where it’s like, “once you listen to this sound and pray you will be an instant millionaire and have success at everything you do.” Then you’ll see a bunch of comments that literally says stuff like, “YASS I CLAIM IT IN JESUS NAMEN AMEN!!!!!!!!” “HALLELUJAH PRAISE JESUS I AM SAVED” “YEAH NOT TODAY SATAN (insert random bible verse here)” —why are these lunatics always using all caps???—and my favorite, “Random rant about how my life has sucked but the lord is showing me a sign about how everything is going to change right now from this moment because I watched this stupid reel and did what it instructed me to do.” I feel like this is the deception and lies that the Devil wants wether you believe it or not when you respond like this for multiple reason.

    1.) you’re saying to all the Christian’s and non Christians alike that God really works in this silly way through these reels, like he’s a wish granting fairy gum all machine and all you have to do is insert stupid spam reel here like it’s a coin to get what you want

    2.) if you don’t believe it then you or using the Lord’s name in vain knowingly and you are making a mockery even if you think it’s innocent fun like a birthday wish don’t involve Jesus’s name in this! (I once commented on one of these reels how silly it is to mention Jesus in the comments of these reels and how often I see it and this grown woman responded by telling me I was a horrible hater and ruining the innocence of all of these people who still believe in magic or some dumb garbage and I was the real villain, not the Devil. All I’m saying is that by using on the lords name in vain you are spreading false propaganda about what his promise really is and all he stands for and you’re raising peoples hopes up in His name just so they can be disappointed and associate that disappointment with God when He doesn’t deserve that accusation thrown at Him. Then they’ll grow up like the villain in all of those save Christmas movies that teaches their kid not to believe in Santa Clause because they didn’t get the toy they wanted when they were younger or something dumb like that. Also unlike a silly birthday ritual involving a candle, a song, and some cake—the Lord is a serious thing not to be taken lightly. People’s whole world view doesn’t change when they wish for a bike on their birthday and get a scooter instead—it does change when they think they asked the creator of the universe for something of more significance than that and they didn’t get what they wanted because they don’t understand what God is really all about or the right and wrong way to pray. If you want to wish upon a star for wealth claim in in Walt Disney’s name, ya’ll—not our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who suffered and died on a cross in a horrific, humiliating, painful, and violent way in front of a crowd of people just so we could be saved for the price and penalty of our sins. Don’t tell me I’m crazy for taking that seriously and believing that name is too powerful and serious to be used in such a lighthearted way!)

I used to believe in the prosperity Gospel but i don't believe in it anymore, i do believe that God provides us our NEEDS, but being a Christian does not guarantee that we will always be healthy and wealthy, that is not the purpose of the Gospel, it's purpose is to provide forgiveness for our sins through Christ and freedom from the bondage of sin, and Eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

  40. Context people…..context. 😁 jesus promised we'd get disowned, beaten, imprisoned and in some cases killed. But nothing more than what He went through for us first. So he laid it up front what following may entail. Sure I'd prefer it if we were blessed like David, Joseph etc, but look what they had to go through BEFORE they received that blessing. Plus Jesus has already bought us the best gift anyone could of dreamed of in the old testament….eternal relationship with God made possible through Christ's death and resurrection for us. So yeh, I choose Jesus no matter what, Lord give me strength to endure 😁

    I hate thinking that my financial struggles are due to lack of faith… how about less work due to lockdowns, job loss, divorce, gas price hikes… I feel sure that lots of us have faith, but it is just painful to see "men and women of God" in their planes while the rest of us have to take drastic measures to keep our homes.

  46. usually prosperity gospel pastors say that Christians are descendants of Abraham spiritually. so the blessings of God in the OT can happen in your life. plus the use of verses in the NT such as 1 Peter 2:9 to validate it. but since covid, prosperity gospel pastors in my country have begun to "repent" because many of their congregations have died or lost their income so the sermon about always being blessed has become like nonsense.

  47. To follow, it is written throughout scripture that if you leverage the tools God has given for his glory He will give more to leverage for His glory. But that means greed and self-fulfillment is taken out of the equation, it means to not hold on to what God has given, but look for opportunities to use it to be light and salt in the world. It also means we are always expected to place our faith in God and not in the tools He provides for His glory (idolatry). Because prosperity gospel is based on greed and self-fulfillment it means a person who believes and practices it has placed themselves before/ above God, breaking what Jesus said was the most important commandment.

  49. Suffering disproves a loving god. Focusing on resurrections, demons,
    devils, eternal torture, heaven is really only a distraction and leads
    to more suffering and dispair. If human beings were designed we were
    designed by malice. Human beings are disgusting bags of walking crap,
    decomposing daily. We are filled with diseases, chronic pain waiting to
    die or be killed at any moment. Reality points to us evolving from
    primoridal soup which would explain us perfectly. On planet earth
    human conception is just the first stage of human destruction and death.
    If planet earth was designed it was designed to kill and destroy
    human beings and every other living entity. From the planet's
    environment, famines, wars, natural disasters, animals (including the
    human kind), old age, parasites, insects, viruses, bacteria, etc…if
    designed it was designed to kill and destroy. As humans we have just
    evolved to survive the best we can…which is one of the reasons
    religion came to be. We need a hope to pretend in to keep us from
    focusing every minute on being killed or dying. But the only true hope
    any human being will ever have is in the present moment. It is in this
    moment we can experience happiness and joy and love. So while
    Christians like to focus on homosexuality, abortions, black mermaids or
    other sanctimonious bullshit…remember it is only their extreme
    cowardice of not be able to comprehend the true lie of their supposed
    god.
