Why Was It Written? (How To Study The Bible: Episode 5)

Because we would be CLUELESS without the written word, and therefore unaccountable.

How do you read the Bible? Since you're saying don't just open up at random, please tell us why and what a better way is.
Because the way I've been studying the Bible for the past 25 years, is I pray and thank God for his Word. I asked him to open my eyes and give me wisdom that he has for me. I ask him that through his word, I will be more like Jesus. And then I open up the book to where I believe the Holy Spirit is leading me.

Good video.
If you were asked: "What is the Bible about"?

What would YOU answer?

If I'm reading a book in which I have a question and a "person" is in the room and the author of that book is in the room…..I'm going to ask the author of that book what they meant when they wrote it…I use the same principle with the Bible…I always start by asking God what He meant when He wrote what I'm about to read. Now my dilemma…..I can generally remember a "paraphrase" of what the Bible says, but not the exact words or where it is in the Bible. When I'm talking to someone about the Bible and the Gospel, (I pray first — silently) but when I can't show them in the Bible it sometimes throws the validity out the window for the person I'm talking to. How can I remember better? (also, side note…I love your Bible with the leather cover and snap closure, can you tell me where you got it please?)

Thank you Pastor Jack for making the Bible real for me. I’ve loved God and. Jesus all my life but brought up Catholic so no Bible teaching as you do. God couldn’t speak to me clearly as I knew little about His words . Thank you from Australia. I. Will try to visit your church soon
