Some say Jesus survived the cross. Did Jesus “swoon” and then fake his resurrection? This answer is no! This video is part of my class IN DEFENSE OF THE RESURRECTION at Talbot School of Theology (Biola U).

Last month I got to ask Shabir Ally two questions on two separate occasions regarding the likelyhood of a person surviving a FULL Roman crucifixion.
On the first occasion, he states it was unlikely – but then falsely attached it to the Resurrection and said that IF Jesus surviving the crucifixion is unlikely then the resurrection must be more unlikely. However, this is simply a false comparison. First, the crucifixion and the resurrection are two separate events. Second, the crucifixion does not require belief in any divine intervention to be historically investigated. However, the resurrection is a claim that pertains to divine intervention. Thus, you cannot apply the same criteria to the two events. However, Shabir Ally is ignorant of this fact and made this error. Only one word comes to mind: ultracrepadarian
lol I remember the Swoon theory.
Did Jesus say from him mouth after he supposedly died that he died and came back.pyal was not there disciples were not there.plus in Mexico some Cristian nail there self to a criss for hour alone hour the dont die
No more papyrus… please. 🙏🏻
Good job
The Swoon Theory has always amused me. After being beaten nearly to death for several hours, the greatest killers in human history failed their tried and true method of executing a criminal, and furthermore made a mistake on examining the body to make sure it was really dead. After that, they bond Jesus in grave wraps, threw him into a tomb and rolled a heavy stone over it, and after three days of no food or water to aid him in his recovery, Jesus gets up, rips the wraps off his body, moves the heavy stone, fends of the Roman guards (which with how scared they would have been would be the easy part), and instead of crawling into town for food, water, and serious medical attention, he appears to his followers to play the most epic prank of all time.
well considering that there was no cruxificiton, it is easy to survive. Chrisitans can't even figure out how he was supposedly put up. But consider that someone was nailed by the ankles and wrists (the hands don't work because they'll rip through with that kind of weight. the wrists would have to be tied or nailed again) There is some blood loss and a hell of a lot of pain. But no reason to die within a few hours of this happening. Being suspended by your wrists wouldn't cause you to not be able to breathe or the other nonsense claimed.
The stories dont' agree on if there was a stabbing or not. Just like so many other contradictions. There is no evidence of a whipping at all.
There is no "multiple attestation" and there is no embarrassment. Why would someone be embarrassed if JC told them this was going to happen? There is not one sign of embarrassment at all. Sean and other apologists have made it up wholesale.
Tacitus is reporting what Christians believed, not what happened. Apologists always love to try this lie. And Sean lies about what Josephus wrote, quoting the well known forgery.
there was no swooning, there was no cruxifiction, resurrection, major earthquake, sky darkening or dead Jews up wandering around.
Why do theists spend so much time on these argument? I know of zero atheists or non-Christians that make this argument! I love you Sean, but stop wasting your’s and everyone else’s time😁
Hey man, I love your videos. Keep doing what you do. God bless you!
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:18
The reason why the Swoon Theory won't go away is because apologists like you keep bringing it up as a straw man argument to use as an intellectual punching bag. No serious rational person would entertain this as a genuine hypothesis because it makes no sense. If Jesus was still alive after the crucifixion, he would have been around for the founding of the church, and he would have lived out the rest of his days and died a natural death at some later point in time. The Christian doctrine would then have been modified to incorporate this reality. Jesus would have continued with new teachings, and Christians would have made up some other kind of bs about how it was prophesied that the Messiah had to survive his own execution, die a natural death later on to take on the sins of the world, and ascend into Heaven. See … easy. Legend development is the most plausible theory that explains the rise of Christianity.
Can Pastors, who preach faith alone free grace without work be free to violate the teachings of Jesus Christ? How can they teach the love of Jesus Christ unless they have practiced it if you read Mathew 25 45? How will they trust Jesus Christ if they are not prepared to accept the greater reward in heaven after giving away their riches on earth for the sake of poor?. According to Mathew 28 20, are they not commanded to teach how to obey all that Jesus taught? Shouldn't they be tested according to 1 John 4 1?
Yeah, but still a about a billion times more likely than rising from the dead.
I just watched your 'atheist improv' at kings etc etc school. One thing it's important to recognize is that the whole point of Christianity is to be like-Christ. It's not about labeling yourself a Christian. It's not about going to church. It's not even about whether or not you believe Christ was resurrected. None of that matters. What has real implications, is living Christ-like: love your enemies, love your neighbors, love yourself. Be kind. Help those less fortunate than yourself. Show compassion always. I don't consider myself a 'christian' but I live by these tenets. By 'Christian' theology, I am going to hell. This is one of many reasons I cannot subscribe to Christianity but follow the path of Christ.
