SCRIPT:
On the extremely first day of my Philosophy 101 class, I ask my students this issue:

Does life make good sense?

A couple of uncomfortable minutes pass. One hand increases and then another.

No, life does not make good sense, various students notify me. It appears complete and arbitrary of discomfort and suffering.

How does this make them feel? I ask.

They notify me it triggers them tension and anxiety and even anxiety.

What do they prepare to do about it? I ask.

They have no response. And this, obviously, just adds to their stress and anxiety.

There is a response. It’s called knowledge. Not exactly a fashionable concept nowadays however offered just how much mental disorder is reported on school, it’s primed for a return.

The Oxford Dictionary specifies knowledge in this manner: the “capacity of evaluating properly in matters connecting to life and conduct; stability of judgment …” That’s something we all desire. Wisdom helps us to deal with them.

By the method, the word philosophy suggests “the love of wisdom.”

Where should we start our knowledge journey?

How about with the most substantial and popular book in human history, one for which there is no close 2nd– the Bible. Not extremely, it has a lot of thoughts on the topic.

Proverbs 9:10 takes us right to the heart of the matter.

” The concern of God,” the stating notifies us, “is the beginning of understanding.”

Whoa. That’s a vibrant declaration.

Let’s dump it and see what we discover.

Indiana Jones fears snakes, Ron Weasley fears spiders, lots of people fear public speaking. Individuals fear getting ill, being reliant on others and ultimately, they fear death. Then worry of God is fear number one, if understanding is your issue– and the Bible believes it should be–.

Why?

To fear God is a recognition that you are not God.

Life suddenly has order.

A clear hierarchy is developed.

God.

Then Man … then animals.

We make the rules if we take God out of the formula and area ourselves at the top of the pyramid. The entire concept of an unbiased requirement of right and incorrect goes out the proverbial window.

After all) we take our rightful location in the hierarchy when we fear God (He did create the universe. It’s much easier to get knowledge when you do not believe you already “understand everything.”

As it states in another verse in Proverbs, “Do not be smart in your own eyes; fear the Lord and avoid evil.”

Second, fearing God will highly likely make you a far better individual.

There are scholastic research studies to back this up. A 2012 research study released by the Public Library of Science found that worry of spectacular charge leads to more ethical practices.

Merely as the majority of kids fear their father (” wait til your dad gets back”), we are to fear God’s rage. Many of the most important rules in the Bible like “do not put a stumbling block in front of the blind” are right away followed by the phrase “You will fear God.

Worry God and you’re much less more than likely to do something you need to not. By meaning that will assist you to make smarter decisions. That’s some severe wisdom right there.

And 3rd, if you fear God, you will fear others less.

Doing what is best becomes much easier even if the effects are not to your instant benefit because you comprehend you need to address very first to God, not people. This will give you guts along with knowledge.

You don’t believe in God. The Psalms inform us, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.'”.

The Bible knows that many will decrease its tips. Naturally, it specifies you’re unreasonable to do so. Nevertheless you can do it. You have free option– another Biblical belief, by the way.
