I am the fallen soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine.
Remember me.
I am the one that held the line. Frequently I provided. In some cases I went due to the reality that I was notified to go.
When the nation called– I dealt with.
In order to serve, I left behind the family, friends, and liberty that lots of think about given.
Slowly, I utilized different weapons: a sword, a musket, a bayonet, a rifle, a gatling weapon.
Frequently, I marched into battle on foot. Other times, I rode to eliminate on horseback or in wagons; in some cases on trains; later in tanks or jeeps or Humvees.
In early wars, my ships were made from wood and powered by the wind. Later on they were made of steel and powered by diesel fuel or the atom. I even took off and mastered the sky in helicopters, planes, and jets. The makers of war established and changed with the times.
Bear in mind that it was constantly me– the warrior– that needed to battle our country’s opponents.
I combated at Lexington and Concord as our nation was born.
I crossed the Delaware on Christmas Day in 1776.
In the Civil War, I battled with my brothers– and versus my brother or sisters– at Gettysburg and Shiloh and Bull Run. I found out that we need to never ever once again divide.
