Good one. Thanks. It is important to keep reminding people that Hitler's government was socialist. It was a racist, nationalist version of socialism. But it was socialist. The government controlled the means of production, not by nationalizing industry as in left-wing socialism, but instead by threatening and controlling the industrialists.

I'm sorry, evrn though, I'm a big fan of PragerU and am usually entertained as well as educated, I have to vote this one down…way to simplistic and frankly, not very well researched… Hitler's obsession with the Jews was a reaction to the emerging wave of anti-Semitism, ripe within Europe as a whole for centuries,yet reaching critical mass in a defeated and wrongly treated Germany ("the peace of Versailles is just thd continuation of the war with other means"). Hitler picked up, what emotional currents where present within the German people. He was a racist before of course, not wanting to serve in the muti-ethnic army of the Donau monarchy

To future video editors: Use the proper borders of the period discussing. Using the borders of the current modern Federal Republic of Germany to discuss the German Empire or Nazi Germany is just lazy. Same for the Lenin and Stalin videos. Using the borders of the modern Russian Federation and just slapping the hammer and sickle on it is again intellectual laziness.

Yes it is true that the doctor of his mother was a Jew. However, there IS a reason (I am not sure of how well known it is) for why he came to despise Jews: he was originally an art student in Vienna and he came to despise the multiculturalism he encountered and when he failed to graduate from art school, he blamed the Jews.
What he did and why he did it will never make sense because he was a psychopath, or from a less precise perspective, insane.
When someone starts with A then B then C then off the rails, it is more than an error in reasoning. To people with a reasoning ability somewhere close to normal, such a conclusion and action is insane and thus will never make sense. If being insane can make someone not responsible for their actions, a trial would surely have resulted in that recognition.
