Did Sean eventually answer the guy's question? Because I only see the same ol' apologetic talk where words are put together in a final nonsensical arrangement – look at the buildings, and the trees, and some more stuff, and forget about the original question.

The Bible is an anachronistic mess of fiction that does not belong in modern times. There is NO god of ANY holy book. ALL gods are strictly human manufactured fiction. Christianity, Islam, Judaism are an absurdity full of hate and ignorance. god is fiction in EVERY religion, culture, and language, everywhere, every second of every day, 365. It is just an excuse to engage in ordained hate and othering. Religion is no solution for the requirements of humanity in the 21st century. The sooner humanity understands this, the sooner we can get to work in unison for humanity actual. Non-belief is JUSTIFIED! ALL evidence and rules of evidence point to ZERO gods, the divinity of Jesus is fiction likewise that of Mohammed likewise Moses…etc etc for all religions for many thousands of years, ALL fiction. Your religion is false just as much as you believe the next religion across the globe is false, you don't get to be right all by yourself, instead, YOU and EVERYONE else's religion are wrong. Human created god(s).
After Sean's very poor answer, I'll attempt a better one. Large portions of the Bible are of unknown authorship, and the Bible is not a book; it is a collection of books, a very different collection for Jews, Catholics, and Protestants. Furthermore, all of its texts are disparate and idiosyncratic expressing various and conflicting ideas.
I would have to say that Paul who wrote most of the New testament is what did it for me.. this guy went from persecuting Christians to devoting his entire life and then dying for the cause? I don't see any other reasonable motive other than he saw the risen Christ

Christianity was compulsory by many states for centuries. Is it a surprise that the proliferation of the Bible exceeded all other books?
Much like Islam in Muslim states today. It’s romantic to think of these things in strictly feel good ways. But, consider it in a more practical point of view.
1) There are areas where Christianity flopped.
2) In the areas where Christianity did spread, it was done so by the sword.
The answer you're looking for, Sean, is genocide.
Wouldn't the randomness of its writers merely go to supporting the supernatural status of the bible especially as totally unrelated guys say or give witness to the same things? Random guys usually do not agree with each other about much at all. However faithful, honest, genuine and truthful witnesses are.
