When it comes to sexuality, many Christians act like God’s Word doesn’t matter. Alan Shlemon of Stand to Reason explains why this is a problem for those who profess to be Christ-followers.

You are one of the most idiotic persons I have come across today. I hear you putting words next to each other but they don't make much sense. Keep your nose out of other people's sex lives, you perv. I guess it's difficult when you believe in a god that jerks off while watching his subjects". Wow your religion is sick.

Alan, are you ok? You seem to be displaying 'weird nonsense' everywhere. You sure you or whoever wrote the script for this video are stable, you know, in the head?
This has to be the most gobbled together pieces of nonsense I have seen in a while. No basic knowledge of anything to do with evolutionary and psychological of first origins and second benefits of having close sexual encounters between humans. Also you imply many unnecessary insults towards atheists implying their love lives are somehow less so than what your beliefs say so. This video is not only subjective and appallingly wrong but basic human compassion and etiquette is thrown out the window with constant moral high horse you are on.

That's fine, the less sex that religious people have the better, so long as it reduces the number of children they are able to abuse psychologically (as they do).

Theists claim Atheists are actually obsessed with God/s because of how much we talk about God/s. By that logic Christians are creepy stalker level obsessed with sex.

"Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves." – Numbers 31:18

"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are." – Exodus 21:7

"When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you." – Deuteronomy 20:13-14

"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." – Deuteronomy 22:28-29

"When you go out to war against your enemies and the LORD, your God, delivers them into your hand, so that you take captives, if you see a comely woman among the captives and become so enamored of her that you wish to have her as wife, you may take her home to your house. But before she may live there, she must shave her head and pare her nails and lay aside her captive’s garb. After she has mourned her father and mother for a full month, you may have relations with her, and you shall be her husband and she shall be your wife. However, if later on you lose your liking for her, you shall give her her freedom, if she wishes it; but you shall not sell her or enslave her, since she was married to you under compulsion." – Deuteronomy 21:10-14

"Thus says the Lord: ‘I will bring evil upon you out of your own house. I will take your wives while you live to see it, and will give them to your neighbour. He shall lie with your wives in broad daylight. You have done this deed in secret, but I will bring it about in the presence of all Israel, and with the sun looking down.’" – 2 Samuel 12:11-12

"They must be dividing the spoils they took: there must be a damsel or two for each man, Spoils of dyed cloth as Sisera’s spoil, an ornate shawl or two for me in the spoil." Judges 5:30

"And watch; and behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to take part in the dances, then you shall come out of the vineyards and each of you shall catch his wife from the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin." Judges 21

"If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you." – Deuteronomy 22:23-24

"Lo, a day shall come for the Lord when the spoils shall be divided in your midst. And I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle: the city shall be taken, houses plundered, women ravished; half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be removed from the city." – Exodus 21:7-11

You are attempting to use a book that approves of sex slavery, forcing rape survivors to marry their attackers, and sees women as livestock to be stolen and plundered, to argue for your superior sexual morality? Fuck yourself with something blunt.

Here's a thought: Who in the world has ever actually said, "I believe in God, but when it comes to this one particular sin I want to commit then all of a sudden I deny God exists. Then when I finish POOF! God shall exist again"? What is actually more likely to occur is that the same people who spent the whole day telling others to obey God to the fullest or else they go to Hell will do whatever they want, then claim grace for their sin, "You have to do these things I tell you God wants you to do. I however don't have to follow these rules because I am saved through grace not works". THAT'S how most Christians get away with not following the same laws they claim they adore so much, not this made up "sexual atheism" crap.

Liberal ethics generally bases morals on suffering — if something doesn't cause harm to someone, it's generally accepted to be OK. It seems Christian morality is based on the same premise, except that in some cases where no person is harmed, God is assumed to be the one suffering. Why? God is clearly choosing to suffer, because there's no way someone could harm God without his approval if he is assumed to be all-powerful.

My teenage son is being a typical teenager. The Bible says I need to take my son into town, let then know he is being rebellious and then have him stoned. I mean it is written right there Deut 21. Also, how much does an American girl go for these days. Exodus 21 says that I can sell her into slavery.

Don't follow along with the morality of the Bible.

    Greetings Alan,

What Is Sexual Hinduism, and Why Is It Wrong?
What Is Sexual Islam, and Why Is It Wrong?
What Is Sexual Jainism, and Why Is It Wrong?
What Is Sexual Mormonism, and Why Is It Wrong?
What Is Sexual Buddhism, and Why Is It Wrong?
What Is Sexual Taoism, and Why Is It Wrong?

What Is Sexual Atheism, and Why Is It Wrong?

In my opinion, Alan, your commentary on this question is, first and foremost, an attempt to distract, switch the burden of proof, and/or to maneuver the topic of conversation to another topic or level. Your comments are designed to challenge or question non-believers, skeptics, agnostics, apistevists, or atheists about their worldview in a typical intellectually dishonest Christian manner. This is done with the goal of discrediting or mocking any position (in subjects such as: historical mythology, philosophy, mathematics, biology, chemistry, medicine, psychology, sociology, metaphysics, physics, geology, cosmology, astronomy, archeology, paleontology, ancient history, etc.) you don’t hold.

Alan, would you agree that a person's (a non-believer's, Skeptic's, Agnostic's, Apistevists, or Atheist's) behaviors and views are irrelevant to the validity of your personal God claim(s) and do not extricate you from your burden of proof to demonstrate, before you attack others, that either God, the Bible, or your opinions about morality are true and are what you claim they are?

If no, how do their behaviors and views influence the validity of your personal God claim(s) and your burden of proof to demonstrate that either God, the Bible, or your opinions about morality are true and are what you claim they are?

    If yes, –
    1. please present your positive arguments and positive evidence for these arguments—and without: shifting the burden of proof; using contentious and unargued-for premises; changing context; moving the goalpost; using double meanings; equivocating; claiming an avenue to knowledge you’ve not been granted or proven exists; projecting your beliefs upon others; quoting from sources (including ancient scripture) you’ve not demonstrated to be reliable; preaching and/or offering scripted Christian platitudes; justifying your claims via faith (known to some philosophers as: “pretending to know things you don’t know”); positing attributes of a deity that allow for mutually exclusive God claims that are on an equal footing; taking out of context or quote mining sources you've not completely read, researched, investigated, or understood; denying science while, at the same time, cherry-picking science and borrowing from the naturalistic, humanist, or secular worldview; and,
    2. present your positive arguments and positive evidence for these arguments—and do this without using: personal anecdotes, untestable biased claims of personal revelation, bald assertions, red herrings, straw man arguments, appeals to popularity, appeals to emotion, appeals to guilt, appeals to fear, a tu quoque, false analogies, appeals to ridicule, ad hominems—including abusive (mocking, berating, disparaging or condescending comments), indifference, misrepresentations of facts, misrepresentations of your opponents—i.e., creating a straw-skeptic or straw-atheist, appeals to false authorities, circular reasoning, or using arguments from ignorance; and,
    3. demonstrate your honesty and show your memory is correct by: defining your terms upfront; siting sources—both for and against your argument—holding Ph.Ds and/or who have published papers in the specific field or topic you wish to argue; and,
    4. define your terms without vagueness or ambiguity: For example (and so there is no misunderstanding or confusion) – list and define your God’s specific attributes; define a True Believer—and the positions they absolutely must hold; clearly state your worldview; and,
    5. explain how you have: researched the topic(s) in question, and attempted to falsify your knowledge claims; and,
    6. given the numerous counter arguments against common overly used theistic claims—especially on the Internet and here on YouTube: what is new about your claim(s) that non-believers, skeptics, agnostics, apistevists, or atheists should consider? I.e., do you have anything other than – The Kalam Cosmological Argument, The Contingency Cosmological Argument, Teleological, Ontological, Deontological, and Design Arguments, Pascal's Wager, or viscously circular Presuppositional Apologetics?; and,
    7. how does your worldview pass the Outsider Test for Faith (OTF)?

Is it dietary atheism to not follow all of the food rules, or punishment atheism to not stone sabbath workers and disobedient children?  Every Christian I know picks and chooses what rules to follow.  Why should sex be any different?

The whole idea of sexual atheism seems pretty stupid to me. It sounds like someone is saying they don't believe you can have sex with God or a god. This alone seems pretty stupid but even if you want to push it, there are many myths of people having sex with gods.
I am not saying that you are stupid to talk about it but the subject seems too stupid to warrant this video. It seems like a stupid term to use. The idea that a person who is having sex outside of marriage is somehow not believing in God and so believes as an athiest while doing it is also pretty stupid thinking. This whole idea sounds ludicrous to me. The belief in God is completely outside of the actual morals a person may decide to live by and tho they may be sinning in the eyes of God, they are not disbelieving in God's existance because of it.
Oh no. I stole something. I must not believe in God anymore because it is a sin to steal.
I have a tattoo, I must be an athiest, even tho I believe there is a god, because the bible says we should not get tattooed.
I just became an athiest because I decided to eat pork. I practice porcine atheism.
    This is just dumb.
I wish I could think of a better way to say it but it is just dumb.

There is also a lot of science that shows that sex is healthier within the context of a long-term, committed relationship with one person. So not only does God condemn promiscuity, but science shows us that it's a bad idea as well.
