Who Is It Written To? (How to Study the Bible: Episode 2)
#HowtoStudytheBible
In this lesson, Pastor Jack will walk you through the importance of knowing the audience of the book of the Bible you are studying. To find out who the audience is, you’ll need to take into consideration the historical context of the book. Historical context plays heavily in the writing of the book. Grab your Bibles and join us for this study.

03:06 Transcript, What You Really Need to Know– here we go verse 4 Peter says for if God did not spare the angels who sinned but cast them down to hell and delivered imprisoned them in Chains of Darkness to be reserved for Judgment
Question — did any of the BAD ANGELS get to us earth humans or is it is just the DEMONS? If so did God forgot the DEMONS? From Wikipedia “The original Greek word daimon does not carry negative connotations”
Before “The Catholic Church” as people were moving north of Jerusalem, they stopped at homes that made extra money, feeding the travelers. The women of the house would preach as the men were out herding and farming the land. Christ did not go to “Church”.
And as I am now 73 my father as a boy whose family was so poor my father went to church alone. After a time the minister came to my father and said “If you don’t have a nickel, don’t come back”.
This is wonderful, thank you! Please consider putting the rest of these teachings out quickly, rather than a week separation. God bless you!????✝️????
Thank you Pastor Jack for sharing truth and reaching many who live too far away to attend your ministry.!
Thank you Pastor Jack…Watchman from Tennessee ????????????????. God bless you !
God’s power is the most beautiful thing. His works are perfect!!
Determine to whom it is written is key. There are books that seem to divide Christians, like James. And get people in a legalistic position which is not the intent. Start at 2 tim 2:15 , use the law of first mention, understand there are tribulation passages and books for the Jew only and not for the church, it clears things up 🙂
Thank you❤️❤️❤️
There is a mormon out there with a lot more integrity and dignity than a lot of Christians, his name is Mitt Romney.
So appreciate your Bible teaching. We need more of it. I didn't want to hear at first, but now the end times stuff is encouraging. I agree totally that we are in the last of days, and I know God will ready us all, by the power of His Holy Spirit. TY so much. I'm in North Georgia and it is not taught here, or it is taught to terrify and cause fear. Perfect love casts out all fear.
I'd stay away from John MacArthur, my pastor loves him too, but I've found him to say the least a waste of money. I bought his commentary and he shies away from commentary on the real meaty big topics. I do find Allister Begg more intellectual in the scriptures more than John MacArthur. I'm at a point in my walk where I purposely avoid MacArthur's teachings. Really I know it's cliche and I had a hard time early in my walk with this, but those who say "the best commentary of the bible is the bible" is completely true. I asked the Lord 4 years ago, begging to Him teach me more; He has, he convicted me into setting aside all my translations of the scriptures that come from the Nestles greek text and to pick up the KJV and study. It was really hard at first, still is at times, but ironically I now find it more difficult to read modern versions lol… I did the study for almost 3 years on this controversial topic and almost always slid back into the modern translations, but received chastening every time. I've come to learn opinions of everyone is completely different and it's ok, but really take it all with a grain of salt and just put your faith completely in Christ, He is the Word, as we are told. I will warn, do not go into this controversy of bible translations unless you are ready to be shaken to the core, it hits deep and it's a learning process of how to weed through all the garbage, because a ton of it is garbage. It all boils down to the two guys who translated Greek texts Wescott n Hort who were both unbelievers as the release of their estate writings show. Because the Nestles-Alland is based off this and on their 29th revision I made the decision to not subject myself or family to such indecision, even the 1984 NIV to today's gender neutral NIV I can't and won't do it, and sadly the NKJV is also translated largely from Nestles as well.
Again, this is my opinion and as I said before take mine as a grain of salt. I just wish someone would have warned me about Wescott n Hort upfront so I didn't have to spend years digging into it. But we all have different convictions that we listen to, listen to yours as well as the basic Biblical convictions we are given. God has preserved his word and it is preserved because Jesus Christ is the Word and the word is God.
Thank you! I was able to get a Ryrie NASB study bible through amazon for $20.00 Canadian.
Always great to hear your teaching Pastor Jack. Thank you for all your doing. Shalom!
Chuck Swindoll has good Bible resources online! Thank you Ps. Jack!
And so it still happens today. There is nothing new under the sun.
Hello from Texas
Watched all 8 videos after the introduction. DID I MISS SOMETHING BECAUSE JACK SAID BIBLE VERSIONS TO USE AND AVOID WOULD BE DISCUSSED AND I DIDN'T HEAR THAT
what was the name of the warden wersbie book ?
I think these pastors/teachers are Biblically sound and go deep as well: Dr. David Jeremiah, Philip DeCourcey, Dr. Robert Jeffries.
I found these to be very helpful: BELIEVERS' BIBLE COMMENTARY by William MacDonald and MATTHEW HENRY'S COMMENTARY
Thank you Pastor Jack for these recommendations. You mentioned some that I had never heard of before which surprised me. I guess it shows that we never stop learning!
I have a Matthew Henry Commentary. Quick opinion on that would be appreciated!
I believe Dr. Ruckman and his books and the KJB are great references. Rightly dividing the word is important. Bible believing Baptist church is a great church, eye opener.
. .True
Thank you….????????
