If what I will inform you holds true, almost whatever we most treasure– flexibility, beauty, factor, the family, financial wellness, and even goodness– is in jeopardy.
Who or what positions this threat?
The response is the most powerful ideology of the last a century: leftism. Not liberalism; leftism– or, if you choose, “progressivism.”.
Leftism damages whatever it touches.
Here are a simply a couple of examples:.
1. The universities.
Maybe the most apparent example– one that many liberals acknowledge– is the left’s near destruction of a lot of universities as places of knowing. In the words of Harvard professor Steven Pinker– an atheist and a liberal– because of the left, “universities are ending up being laughing stocks of intolerance.”.
At almost every university– and now high schools and even elementary schools– trainees are taught to shut down– not debate– those who vary with them. And to depend on sensations rather than reason.
2. The arts.
Throughout history, the primary function of art was to raise people– through appeal, creative quality, and emotional depth. To the left, the primary purpose of art, music, and sculpture is to shock. That’s why a lot contemporary art is worthless, and includes the scatological, meaning urine and feces.
Yes, urine and feces. To offer among countless examples, in 2016, the Guggenheim Museum in New York included a pure-gold working toilet, which visitors were invited to use. The name of the exhibit was “America”– so one might literally alleviate oneself on America.
3. Literature.
The English department at the University of Pennsylvania replaced the portrait of the greatest English-language author who ever lived, William Shakespeare, with a photo of a black lesbian poet. Leftist teachers have actually changed the pursuit of quality with the pursuit of variety.
4. Late-night tv.
In America, late-night tv programs were totally apolitical. The hosts thought their function was to entertain viewers and offer them relief and laughter after a tough day. No longer. If you simply desire to be amused, you can not enjoy late-night television. Late-night TV is now left-night television.
5. Religion.
The left has messed up much of mainstream Protestantism and Catholicism, and non-Orthodox Judaism, which are now little more than left-wing organizations with spiritual symbols. In numerous churches and synagogues, one is most likely to hear the clergy talk about political concerns than about any other subject, including even the Bible.
