http://blog.heritage.org | Today marks the 1,000th day since the United States Senate has passed a budget. While the House has put forth (and passed) its own budget, the Senate has failed to do the same. To help illustrate how extraordinary this failure has been, our new video highlights a few of impressive feats in history that have been accomplished in less time.

@echobiz Government does not have the responsibility by our Constitution, to regulate Morals and ethics; but we need to get our Government back into control of the people rather than those trying to destroy this country. Then we need to amend the Constitution on the 2 points mentioned and disallow this type of crimes against the American Citizen again. GINGRICH, ROMNEY, SANTORUM, will not do the job. The only one who has preached Constitution for more than 2 decades is RON PAUL.

@fascistcat So did Hitler, Marx, Lenin and many others. If we do not follow the Constitution then we follow something else and that something else does not lead to Liberty, freedom or Independence. As for our Founding Fathers, they were pretty specific as to the legitimate scope of Government. Their only down fall was in not establishing TERM LIMTS and Protecting our Currency base through our US Treasury; rather they left it open. Thus, we have several Presidents Assassinated, and attempts.

@echobiz CFR doesn't "set policy," they 'influence' policy makers. Think of it as a verbal 'Jedi Mind Trick.' Only weak minded fools fall for it.

Your absolutist Libertarian views on the Constitution are a-historic. Feel free to try to pursued people that drugs like heroin SHOULD be legal, but there is no evidence that The Framers shared your views.

If you argue 'Interstate Commerce' you'd have a more convincing argument, but not many more sympathizers.

    Wrong species of hemp.

@fateliesnthefire No Government employee deserves more than the public can afford to pay and with our governments all in the red, a great number of people are over paid, along with agencies not needed, fill the lines of our state accounting sheets. These policies must change and TERM LIMITS must be brought back within each state. No more professional Politicians and no more Unions for Government Employees.

@fascistcat Heroin was at one time legal. Coke was used in Coca Cola many years ago, and hemp was the primary plant of remaking rope. Our Constitution does not deal in moral or ethical questions as it is not part of Government responsibility, and when it become part of government responsibility, then citizens have slept and allow socialists to take over their government. Wonder why our nation is bankrupt today?

@fascistcat Most of them probably joined the CFR to get their tickets punched. However, the hardliners who sit behind the board room doors are the one that set policy. Believe it, as it is true of every private organization. The truth lies in the potential destruction of this Republic of which is very close at this time. You don't have to believe until it happens.

@fascistcat the simple fact is, this organization was put together initially to control the news media of which was already partially controlled. If you understand how any political organized bunch want to take over a country, it is first by infiltrating every aspect of government and the corporate world. Newt Gingrich was all for the open border program of NAFTA of which destroyed the nations sovereignty as well as state sovereignty.

Granted State Sovereignty all across this country trash.

@echobiz I'm not trying to deprogram you. No more so than if you were a Scientologist. It's not really my area.

I used to believe the CFR crap. All it is is a bunch of Libs who invite other people that they think are important (like themselves). They write a bunch of meaningless papers and meet for fancy dinners. They are The Establishment.

I'm sure they all hate Gingrich and talk about him behind his back.

How can you be 'open borders' and anti-NAFTA at the same time?

No you don't have a clue who Ron Paul is!

@fascistcat You want to know about Gingrich, read his book. See his name listed in the membership of the CFR. Look at his voting record: GATT, NAFTA, etc. Watch all the videos you can on him and with him in debates. Get to know the man. Paul has never changed his stance in all the years he has been in Congress. Watch "The Money Masters" here on You Tube. Know why this country is on its knees. It isn't rocket science to see the truth. Just takes a little of your time. Congress is owned.

@echobiz Gingrich wants to "rewrite The Constitution?"

I suppose you have some evidence for that statement.

Paul is NOT a "strict Constitutionalist." Neither the Founding Fathers nor The Framers of our Constitution would be in favor of legalized heroine of redefining marriage as being anything other than between a man and a woman.

Paul is just another lying Liberal. Right now, he's running only take take money from mopes and run ads against his bff Romney's opponents.

Cut the size of Government: 5 Agencies could be cut and never missed, such as the Federal Department of Education that educates NO ONE!
Cut all Grants to States that enhance wages to Government employees. The states must learn to stay within their own budgets and I don't know of any Policeman who is worth $100,000 per year.
Do all of the above and the Federal Deficit can be paid off rather quickly.

@fascistcat Why would you even want Gingrich in politics in the future? The man is CFR, wants to re write the Constitution, does not care about national or State Sovereignty as he is GATT, NAFTA, Patriot Act, and you name it.
As far as Romney, the man is no different than Obama, so why would you like to see him in office to carry on the same spend, spend, tax and spend programs we have now?
    Want Change?
    Vote for a Strict Constitutionalist
    End the Federal Reserve
    Repeal the Patriot Act

@echobiz Evidently you don't know the history of Argentina during the last century? From one of the richest and economically sound countries in the world; 2nd only to the United States with England leading. In 100 years they sunk into a cesspool of poverty they have not been able to get out of because of government policies. Same in the US and people at too stupid to sit up and pay attention. Keep voting same crooks back into office.

@fjdkslan If I could write you a book here I would but limited characters makes it impossible. Poverty is created and accepted at the same time. Corrupt Government plus ignorant people. Re-read my words and you will find value. Facts speak for themselves when one is educated. There is no value in welfare beyond helping those who can not help themselves. Once the cost exceeds the revenue a country sinks into poverty like quick sand.

    TERM LIMITS
    END THE FEDERAL RESERVE
    CUT THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT
DUMP THE PATRIOT ACT – IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PATRIOTISM AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PEOPLE CONTROL.
How do we get there? Vote for those who follow the Constitution!
Each Representative that sits in Congress is a Representative of a particular state; they need to draw their pay from their home state and not from a Federal Budget.
Federal Money granted to the States needs to stop. States must stay within budget.

@fjdkslan You should be, as I said, it is not about Party; it is about the US Constitution and people learning the truth about Liberty = an open door to opportunity of which means we have to work to earn. Rather, we have succumbed to the promises of politicians for votes and they have trashed this country with welfare (social programs). We should have learned by now that social programs are a one way trip into poverty.

@fjdkslan Believe it or not, it is not about Party; it is about the US Constitution and the fact many swore and oath to serve and protect and all they protect are Spacial Interests.

@fjdkslan We are floundering the same way as the Argentines who are a bankrupt society. We have no learned that to have wealth we must produce it and today that means to spend wisely where wealth circulates. People are so blind because they don't look for facts, rather they accept rumors, innuendoes, and out right lies. Facts speak for themselves but the window will close soon and there will be no more opportunity.

@thelittlesquash That is all smoking mirrors. There are 83 listed members of the Communist Party of the United States in congress and who knows how many more. The purpose of government today is to keep the people confused. The only one who has been consistent in congress for many years is the one preaching the Constitution. Ron Paul, but people have to listen to the words of politicians to know who they are.

Why not remove all Representatives from the Federal Pay Roll and force them to receive their pay from their Home State! Then provide a path for them to go back home and find a job; if they can find one. It's called: TERM LIMITS. No more professional Politicians (Poli=many, tics=blood sucking critters).

The thing that ticks me off are all the Establishment types who are claiming that Gingrich wasn't Conservative, while the current crop have failed to get any of their plans made into law.

-"I voted for The Ryan Plan." Whoopty-doo! So, you essentially had a symbolic/protest vote while O'bama gets everything he wanted AND MORE. By funding the govt through Continuing Resolutions, O'bamas 'Stimulus' is now in the base-line.

If Romney wins, can we at least get Gingrich as Speaker again?

@unixsysny , If the state of the union was 8th grade reading level, it should have been perfect for you, with your eight grade mentality. The fact is, "you " are a Republican and you are either one of two things, rich or an idiot. The chances of you being rich with your brain power are poor at best, however, the odds of you being an idiot are a gambling man's dream……..Now go play in the street.

AND your ignorance and lack of repect for using the race card as a desperate attempt .Typical liberal hypocracy and lies. The truth hurts doesn't it? BTW- the state of the union address was rated at an 8th grade reading level- no small wonder you are comfortable with this incompetent President and equally incompetent Democrat Senate.
