There is no such thing as an unspiritual (or progressive) Christian “Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4). As we see in 1 John 3:4, he explicitly equates sin with an attitude of lawlessness and rebellion against God (cf. Romans 8:7; Colossians 1:21).
Sean, I wish you could understand that everyone else thinks evangelicals like you say the same thing in different words.
“You’re taking that out of context” and “It’s not a religion, it’s a relationship” are just another way of saying “the Bible doesn’t mean what it clearly says, so put it down and listen to my apologetic pretzels.”
The fact that some Christians interpret the Bible to treat people with kindness, and other Christians like you interpret the Bible to treat people hatefully while calling it kindness, says nothing about the Bible and everything about your personal failure of character. That’s what he’s talking about.

Progressivism in all aspects is a cancer. As a former member of the UMC, I can tell you first hand what damage "progressive" Christians can do.

I just watched both interviews this past week. Progressives have inverted the two greatest commandments and "loved" people over God. It's idolatry at its finest, creating their own religion… Thank you for sharing Colby's post, it definitely clarifies the main difference.
This is my oldest son to a T. Our 2nd son is gay. We actually have a wonderful relationship with our 2nd son, love him unconditionally, spend time with him every week, even though he knows his father and I take a biblical view of homosexuality. In spite of our 2nd son being treated very poorly by a pastor at his last church, I believe his relationship with God is good right now, and Holy Spirit will gently correct his confusion with time.
But, because my 1st son loves his brother, he has totally rejected the bible as God's word, and is now a progressive Christian. I don't think he has rejected Jesus, but truthfully, I'm afraid to ask. 😢😢😢
This is very sad indeed. How do we get to know Jesus? He is the word made flesh. We read His word to know our heavenly Father. Let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows me Jeremiah 9:23-24. Pick that Bible up day and night, seek the Lord while He may be found.
what is an abomination? is it a thing that just exists? can we become an abomination? how is it that we become blind to truth and when we are we living a life full of abominations or living a life full of godly truths? good things to study and understand.
One should read the Bible to understand who God is and what God wants!
Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”
Those who practice sexual immorality (including homosexuality) will not be welcomed into heaven. The person is still an image bearer but his/her action is an abomination.
As an Eastern Orthodox Christian I will be found on the same side as Evengelicals in this situation, we may disagree on the importance of trodition in intrepreting the Bible and governing the Church but we Do agree on the inportance of Scripture. Within the Orthodox Trodition the book of the Gosples is so highly regaded that in church it is read by the clergy and kept in the holiest areaof the building, and lay Orthodox will never put our bibles on the ground.
The Church in her wisdom gave us the bible and tools by which to understand it, to reject such a gift from Christ through his bride the Church is to fail to realy love Christ.
Sean says the Bible “does not say” that gays are an abomination. (Video Time 2:30 to 3:17)
Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 both say that homosexuality is an abomination. Does Sean mean the “people” are not an abomination but the “act” of homosexuality is an abomination? Please clarify Sean.

Anyone who tells you to put your Bible down is NOT a Christian! This false Progressive "Christianity" is straight out of the pits of Hell!!!

Sorry, Colby but you seemed to stumble, and not sure of things you were saying. I pray God will open your eyes to the truth. Living with each other in Peace, is important, but living in submission to God is very important. We all fail at it, but should strive for it. And God does give us a guideline and design for marriage! It is one man, one woman, for life!
Sean, thank you for saying , this subject goes into subject of marriage, and marriage is all through the Bible! Even in Genesis. And let me add, marriage is a picture of Christ and His church. And Adam and Eve were man and woman. God from the begining has said one man, one woman for life!
Colby, if for 2,000 years, very smart scholars WHO STUDIED THE BIBLE EVERYDAY, FOR HOURS AT A TIME, FOR YEARS, ALL CONCLUDE SCRIPTURE SAYS SAME THING, AND AGREE ON WHAT IT SAYS, THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN- then maybe you need to rethink it! I guess alcoholism isn’t “chosen” either! Never the less, it is sin to be drunk! A person can be attracted to same sex, but can with the power f the Holy Spirit overcome it. Yes,God is love. God is also a righteous God of justice. How anyone can think homosexuality is not sin, or leaving purity behind is what the church should do, has sadly got it wrong! To say, homosexuals can’t overcome same sex attraction, is to worship a different god. My God, the God of the Bible is all powerful, and can do anything!
It’s evident to me that this Progressive Christian, (I use that in the loosest manner possible), does not believe the Bible is the Word of God. Shockingly stupid to attribute what it says to near-Neanderthal desert hillbillies who don’t understand modern secular Progressivism.
This is a rejection of the Bible being God’s Word. His religion is secular progressivism, not Christianity.
