The title of this episode drew me, (Seeing God in the Ordinary). I enjoy hearing about how others came to faith. At the same time, we must also make the observation that testimonies on most Christian channels are focused on supernatural experiences.
I wish we would have more people on that share about a coming to faith that involves The word of God, the understanding that we are sinners, and a realization that Jesus is enough.
Justification, sanctification, with a hope of glorification is a miracle.
Salvation is THE miracle.
That’s just as supernatural as dreams, vision, prophetic messages or any other extraordinary experience.
So, God didn't make bacteria? Hm. Is that what Biola teaches kids?
Sad.
Great show, this show today really encouraged me. Especially the way we tell God we got this, in a manner of speaking, and so discoveries that help be delayed by our lack of interaction with God. Interesting idea, it rings true. Also writers of many world views having similar virtues, as in there is a sort of universal virtue. So much more. Sean McDowell has one of the best shows on utube. Provocative, thoughtful, respectful discourse from opposing views, terrific and brilliant guests, and then his gift in the long form interview. He asks questions and then let's his guests answer. Some people just talk over their guests and don't let them give complete answers. Besides Dr McDowell has great questions and takes great questions from his audience. Love the show. God bless!
Thank you so very much 🙏😊
I have really bad migraines too it's so depressing. The meds relpex doesn't really work so I take a bunch of tylenol.. I've prayed so much but I stopped praying for the healin. Thank u this is so encouraging
This is called deluding oneself with fantasy agency, it is evidence of disordered magical thinking.
Nice story about his wife. Glad she is well😊. Unfortunately not everyone is so fortunate.
So apparently they give Ph.Ds for coming up with the genius argument of "Couldn't it maybe possibly be as I say…even though I have no evidence". Ph.D in fictional writing…maybe.
God's undeniable gift of a miracle…? Ask me. 🙂 He didn't turn on a projector. But he turned on my faith…in a miracle. Thanks for this discussion!!!
I always learn something when i watch these videos, thankful for this channel
Excellent @
Love this conversation. God bless you both!
Loving this conversation. Thank you for history as well as pointing to our Almighty – sooo encouraging !!! ✝️🙌🏻
2022 and we have fools who still believe in fairy tales! There is no god!!
The only thing I would change about what Mr. Muehlhoff said is this – "God NEEDS Partners". I do not believe that God NEEDS partners. I believe God WANTS partners. God doesn't need a single thing, But God yearns to have human who willingly choose to partner with Him to get things done.
One of the best things I’ve ever heard. Calming the turmoil of Christian exclusivism without demeaning Christ.
To answer your question regarding evil people sending parachutes with relief, well God uses wicked/unbelievers people to help His own people. And at the same time God used wicked people for His own purpose to punish His own. So no matter from where our help comes, it can be attributed to good God. Good things from Good God!!!
That's why the laws against abortion are ludicrous. God loves abortion…the millions of miscarriages weekly prove it.
Tku. I love this conversation because I see daily the way God works through people, believers and non believers. I see the amazing technical advancements he provides for us to use to help each other. He chooses (I feel prefers) to provide and answer our prayers by working through people to help people. This is at the core of the Gospel. Pay attention, look around, take off the cynical sunglasses, you'll see the works of our Father everywhere. There are no coincidences only Godincidences 😄 🙏✝️ love each other.
Thanks!
Why is there evil in this world? Because God is full of mercy and grace. Every sinner should’ve already been justly punished but God has mercifully made it rain on the just and the unjust. He gives us all time to turn from our sin and trust in Him. He desires none to perish so He gives us more time than we deserve.
What does the science world said about the big stories in the old testament, is it true or false?
YouTube comments are the devils playground.
Loved this conversation!! I will definitely look into this book!! Loved the honesty of Dr Tim …I too have wrestled and wondered about many issues but God has been faithful to me and I guess learning to live with a certain amount of uncertainty is ok.
Thanks Sean for all your time and effort to bring great conversational content!! It's been a blessing…
God, but not the christian God
Jesus is watching all the Children DYING in Cancer Hospitals all around the world. He is just too busy doing nothing.
SMH
Sweater with a zipper versus microphone! Lol! Thank you so much for what you discussed here!
The whole thing often seems like a huge experiment to me. Like God has put it into motion and is watching how we deal with things as a detached observer and choosing not to interfere too often. I find it hard to have faith in a God who unpredictably sometimes responds, other times not, without seemingly giving any reason. But I do still hope that he is actually good and that all will be well in the end…
I would like Sean an Tim to discuss “How We Got to Now” by Steven Johnson. He talks about some of the same stuff but from an evolutionary standpoint.
My Pastor Does not Believe in Family Blessings and Curses, he Believes. Jesus New Covenant is here for each person to put their Faith/ Trust and Love in Jesus and Know they will be Forgiven…
Therefore if The paternal side of one’s Family are Alcoholics…
There should not be a curse on the next generation., as they can com-it to Jesus. And be Cured if they choose to… !
Does anyone here have another opinion??? Tnx 🙏🏻
You hit many good topics. For me, the biggest questions should be, Who is the God of the Bible? And how do I please Him?
I recently heard a testimony of a converted satan worshipper, whose reason for converting came to hearing the verse in 1 John 1:5 which says, "…that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." He had been taught that light and darkness were in everything. But the True God has no darkness in Him. It seems that people want to blame God for evil, instead of realizing the bigger picture, and seeing our understanding as very small to trying to understand who God is, and what His motives are.
Concerning health. Should we follow the path of MD's, or the path of Nutritionists? But what pleases God? The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. (From Heb. 11:6) And that whatever we do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus (from Colossians 3:17).
And when I consider the human cell, I see that there is much we don't know about how each nutrient affects our system, and how they interact with each other. It seems that whichever path we choose to follow needs to be chosen in faith, trusting God that He is Good, and that He will lead us into His way for me. I must swallow my pride, that pretends to know what is good for me, and submit to God, and walk by faith, not by sight (from 2 Corinthians 5:7, and James 4:6, 7).
And concerning God's gift packages to us, (ie. Hunger games), God's Grace has been given to all who will hear, at the cross. No small package, but His Grace is pouring, and huge to all who can receive it. What may be good to pray for, is that the eyes of our understanding be opened to see all that God is offering through the Lord Jesus Christ.
And Sean, I really enjoy your discussions, and willingness to bring out any question, and hold it up to the Truth. May God continue to bless!
So everything is a confirmation of god? Couldn't I use any caracter in that sense, like buda or neptune or whoever? Just change the name god for any other name, and see if you are still convinced.
Cheers to all
Matthew 27, 52 the tombs were opened and the bodies of many godly men and women were raised from the dead, here we see an example of common Grace. These Godly men and women would not have heard of the Christ yet they were considered godly.
I have hemiplegic migraines that make my life very difficult. I've even been divorced because my wife wasn't understanding about them and how severe the pain was and fear of getting one when I didn't have one. However, I will say they are a blessing in that some of my deepest thoughts are when I'm sick trying not to focus on the pain. It's also something that forces me to stop and take a breath. Otherwise, I'll work so much or get so caught up in something that I won't even eat 😛
Take magnesium and B1 for migraines – from my neurologist. Cured my migraines. Hope it helps you!
I say this to Tim try taking potassium tablets because apparently it has to do with potassium and there were those you have severe migraines one person in particular started taking potassium tablets every day and he hasn't had a migraine since so I would look into this cheers.
Dr Meuhlhoff has such a refreshing view of grace, I really love his coincidence vs Gods interaction.
Love you videos Sean!
Question for you: how can you learn how to listen to what God is telling you? How can you tell if He’s leading you in a direction?
I like that! An act of grace that maybe I haven’t considered…
Wow, yes our expectations of God and how He would see things! God has perfect wisdom and an eternal perspective….I don’t.
I have to say I struggle with this…I waffle. My tendency has been to first think I am being punished…. I am learning more and more to look at things (challenges) differently. It takes effort for me…and I am thankful that God continues to draw me back to Him when I fail, when I waffle. I am better, of course, with 20/20 hindsight in seeing Gods amazing Grace in my life.
Hi. Perhaps you could explain it to the 9 million children who suffer and die of malnutrition each year and the countless more sexually abused. Curious that the Bible is not only silent about pedophillia, it endorsed it as it did slavery. Numbers 31 and Deuteronomy 21:10-14. Cognitive Dissonance is powerful.
Much of the Bible, Including hellfire and eternal torment, Noah and the flood, Jonah and Samson were taken from other stories that predate the Bible. And inconsistencies in the Bible are many, including the character and morality of the Old Testament god. For this reason many Christians only accept the New Testament.
Christianity was Never unified. There are 45,000 Christian denominations today. I don't believe the creator of the Vast Universe could have been such an inefficient communicator.
I am wrestling with God about a lot of things in my life right now, including several medical issues, including 3 that came about because of a doctor not doing his job properly. That resulted in my having to deal with my anger and resentment because of him not doing what he should have done, when he should have done it. Jesus worked me through those attitudes as well as forgiving the doctor involved. He is choosing not to heal me of any of them and I admit that I am not happy about it at all. The only thing He has given are those verses in the 1st Chapter of James verses 2-4. Not doing well on the "count it all joy" part, but He is definitely working on letting patience have its perfect work, etc. Some days I am able to better submit to Him than others, so I ask for the grace to embrace what He wants to do in me. It happens step by step.
After reading Ann Voscamp book 1,000 gifts … I’ve been in the practise of writing out gratitude (now 4 books) because of her book. Gratitude (recognizing His common grace) is thankfulness for the guy who took education to give & read my MRI, the meds discovered by some soul, the gorgeous display of a dozen birds performing at the beach, etc. God can handle our disappointments. 🇨🇦
Hard old timer advice I was given decades ago, but has been true;
If He is hiding Himself from you, He is testing you, seek Him. If He is with you, He is teaching you, cling to Him. Don't expect anything from Him unless it's directly promised and be grateful for what you get, the hard times are the work, the good times are a gift. Trust Him.
Edited to add, trust Him.
