Have you ever heard the old stating that a conservative is just a liberal who got robbed?
Well, I got held up– to the tune of $60,000 a year. It’s called “tuition.”.
Like everyone who cons themselves into going to a liberal arts college, I was mesmerized by the idea of changing the world. I would immerse myself in a diverse pool of scholastic idea, theory, and action.
Well … it didn’t rather work out that approach.
Throughout four years, I was changed from an adventurous, free-thinking complimentary spirit into a snappy, get-off-my-lawn conservative.
The procedure started not long after I reached my elite East Coast school. I thought I was there to expand my knowledge of the world; to discuss the outstanding ideas. I quickly acknowledged, however, that my teachers had something else in mind.
Undoubtedly each class followed the precise very same dull regimen: figure out a concern– state, bigotry; blow it up beyond all proportion; blame the problem on the white bulk culture; and after that utilize an unfeasible solution– normally consisting of the government.
Initially, I just rolled with it. I got disappointed.
I was being brainwashed.
Indoctrinated.

Virtually every speaker who came to campus was a leftist reporter, a leftist activist, or a leftist teacher from another leftist school.
The ones who weren’t leftists were merely unusual. One time, I went to a film lecture supplied by an extremely qualified paraplegic adult movie star who revealed us some of her “art.” Another time, I went to a performance used by a woman who took part in auto-eroticism behind a drape.
I might not deal with it– the PC culture, the mono thinking, the weirdness. I required some method to cope. I got high– nearly every day.
Parenthetically, most of the worst stoners I understood are now working in funding or politics. I do not rely on these goofs to make policy.
This brings me to another black hole in the college experience: ineffective majors– the only thing more widespread than cannabis and negligent future leaders. I’m not being judgmental here: I have a degree in film and media research studies and political science.
I was not alone. The majority of my peers likewise selected to invest their student loan money on topics much better found on YouTube or Turner Classic Movies.
By the time graduation approached, none people had established any actual task abilities.
And people prefer to raise taxes to pay for complimentary college for everybody? I ‘d just offer a complimentary education to a wise kid who ensured to get a degree in whatever the accurate reverse of my degree is.
