Book of 1 Samuel Summary: A Complete Animated Overview
Watch our overview video on the book of 1 Samuel, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. In 1 Samuel, God reluctantly raises up kings to rule the Israelites. The first is a failure, and the second, David, is a faithful replacement.

Why does nobody ever mention the golden hemorrhoids that the Philistines made as an offering in an attempt to cure them of the hemorrhoids that God gave them as apart of the plagues? That's literally the best part
This sounds like what’s going on right now. God help us 🙏🏼
I would request this episode be redone for young children. watching re: David and Bathsheba’s story. As a children’s teacher/parent I believe this is more high school appropriate and not for younger kids to hear.
@4:28 the narrator illustrates the moral shortcomings of Saul who "blatantly disobeyed God's commands". What he didn't mention is that Yahweh's command was for him to kill the men, women, children, babies and even every livestock and cattle of his enemies. When Saul instead spares some of the animals (he killed all the children and babies of course) Yahweh gets pissed. Saul innocently thought that livestock could be useful, they could even be used as sacrifice to Yahweh himself (Yahweh normally loves animal sacrifices). So, Saul didn't realize not killing every animal was that important to Yahweh (which makes no sense after all). So, when the narrator says 'the lesson is that we should be humble to God even if his orders don't make sense' it's within the context of Yahweh's orders including slaughtering of women, children and babies. So, for anyone who happens to read this I would encourage you: If your Yahweh ever asks you to slaughter every living being of a certain group of people, not only disobey him and spare some of the animals… maybe spare some of the babies as well.
Thanks for the video!
There is also a witch on a forest moon. In a galaxy far, far away.

Amazing story telling. Thank you Bible Project! ❤
Sure, you can read it chronologically. But what happens when you “read” it in reverse?
“We started at the bottom now we here” still means something.
Books. Judges. Covers. Etc (donkey lol)
I FUCKING LOVE JESUS! 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣🗣🗣🐒🐒🐒
Who was David when Saul ruled? He was the greatest of Sauls commanders, he was Sauls son in law, and he was also Sauls foremost musician. Who was Uria when David ruled? He was one of the 30-heroes of David, he was married to Batsheba the granddaughter of Ahitophel (one of Davids senior advisors). In psycologi we find oppressed turn to oppressors. Was this the case with David? Was he pious or reckless when he spared Saul`s life?l He surely put himself and his men in harms way when letting Saul walk, on two different occasions? I wonder how the story of David was told today if he acted in self-defense and killed Saul? Perhaps he could stayed in Israel and avoided the period outside? (Depends on Jonathan`s reaction) Maybe Uria could have survived Davids reign?
Thank you for the overview. God bless you.
4:29 Why did you ignore that Samuel says to Saul that God commands genocide of the Amalekites? 1. Samuel 15:1-7

I love these Bible Chapter reviews but I have an EXTREMELY difficult time understanding the end of his sentences as he trails off big time in volume. I have to turn up the volume SUPER high to be able to understand the full sentence but then it’s way too loud when he starts speaking. I find it very distracting and difficult to concentrate on what he’s saying.
This book was so fun to read! I got invested with the characters and actively rooted for David after ch 18.
Thank you God for this lesson and thank you Bible project for being blessed to explain it so easily.
