The Moral Case for Mockery
Bad ideas are everywhere, spreading like viruses. Ironically, the antidote is readily available. We just have to have the courage to use it. Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, provides the prescription.

Script:
Bad ideas are everywhere…
Spreading like viruses…
Infecting every area of our lives…
And driving millions of otherwise rational people to embrace the irrational.
Here’s one obvious example. It illustrates a broader point I want to make about — of all things — the moral importance of mockery.
Ready for this?
We’re told by so-called experts with straight faces that men can become women and women can become men.
We’re told that sex is assigned at birth, rather than observed, as if doctors just make their best guess whenever they see a newborn baby.
We’re told men can become pregnant and “chestfeed.”
These aren’t fringe ideas promoted by radicals on Reddit. They’re mainstream, endorsed by once-respected medical organizations, highly-educated doctors, and popular internet wellness sites.
Go to healthline.com and type in, “Can men get pregnant?” and you’ll find this answer:
“Yes, it’s possible for men to become pregnant and give birth to children of their own… In order to explain, we’ll need to break down some common misconceptions about how we understand the term ‘man.’”
So the people who just told us men can get pregnant are going to clear up misconceptions for us? Hmm, I don’t think so.
It would be bad enough if these ideas were merely popular, but they’ve quickly gone from mainstream to mandatory.
You can’t criticize them.
You can’t even joke about them.
Comedians risk being canceled, and in some cases physically attacked, for doing so.
In a twisted way, this all kind of makes sense.
In order to prop up an insane worldview that can’t be defended, or even coherently articulated, you have to insulate it from criticism—especially the comedic kind that employs mockery to expose foolishness.
It’s embarrassing to be exposed as a fool.
So, it can’t be tolerated.
My team at the Babylon Bee learned this the hard way when we made a joke about Rachel Levine, a transgender health admiral in the Biden administration.
USA Today had named Rachel Levine as one of their “Women of the Year.” They were serious. But Rachel Levine is no more a woman than I am.
So, we fired back with this satirical headline: “The Babylon Bee’s Man Of The Year Is Rachel Levine.”
The mockery, of course, was of USA Today — not the admiral.
Twitter — pre-Elon — was not amused. They locked our account for “hateful conduct.” “Delete the joke,” they said, “and you can have your account back.” We refused.
The intolerable truth you’re not allowed to speak is that Rachel Levine actually misgenders himself whenever he calls himself a woman. And pointing that out, no matter how it’s done, is not hateful conduct because the truth is not hate speech.
But this is how the system is rigged to safeguard bad ideas.
The leftists who dominate our media and culture are armed with both a sword and a shield. They can call anyone who differs with them a bigot, a transphobe, a Nazi. It doesn’t matter. They know, they’ll never get banned.
That’s the sword.

I agree, all harmful extremist ideas should be mocked, no exceptions. So, we should do more jokes about the three Abrahamic religions, then some more jokes about communism, and why not add ultranationalism to the list 🤔
We're told by Xians that, "God is good," but challenge them to back that up with a list of acts they believe their "Evil Satan" might perpetrate against people but their "good" god never would and they balk like chumps! They should be mocked for that. Some also believe in a worldwide flood survived by a floating zoo skippered by a 600 year-old man. They should be mocked for that. They believe that abortion by hospital/clinic is worse than God ordained abortion by sword. Mock them for that. And to this day, many deny evolution and climate change. Those nuts really deserve mockery! In fact, the very idea of a god who required a human blood-sacrifice in order to allow himself to forgive us for something we never did, and who lets a being he "hates" cause the misery and downfall of beings he "loves," is the most mockable hogwash ever! 🤣 I'm gonna mock the hell out of brainwashed Xians! Thanks for permission!
Mockery can be different than righteous… derision ? IDK. I know how Jesus spoke to and about the religious leaders of His day ( when He was physically on Earth) and even how Paul spoke of those who similarly were seriously leading people away from God and truths they themselves should have known and who's hearts were hard. They had prayer lives unlike most of us though…. . I take Psalm 1 seriously… .
Humour: Someone put the mockers on it.
Remember the old saying: “Boys will be boys!” Woke Update: “Boys will be girls!” Will this be cancelled? Trans-sexuals: I am prepared to meet them halfway.
Last one: If King Charles decided he wanted to be a woman, would he become a queen?
Maybe a little bit of lighthearted joking/mockery is ok though certainly not imperative, but conservatives are taking nasty contemptous attitudes too far, it affected me and my relationships badly. Love & grace win the war, that's God's way, that's true morality. (And truth and appropriate rebuke)
Is it okay to mock people who don't use English very goodly?
What a great video!
Very, very, very well said.
Jesus taught that what is not handed over to God will be forfeited. At the time of the French Revolution and the so called Enlightenment we refused to surrender to God reason in particular with the result that over time society went mad. We have in fact become irrational. This is not new. Past societies have also gone mad after pretending they could be rational on their own. Read Herodotus and see for yourself. The solution? Give back to God what the Enlightenment denied Him.
people mock you freaks all the time
2:16 I like how they specified it was "Pre-Elon"
Wow… Impressive
You know I noticed what your saying would limit people's freedom. You do know you live in the land of the free? You know where people should be able to do whatever as long as what they're doing doesn't hurt anyone else. If a man wants to be woman, go for it. If someone wants to research the climate, sure. If someone wants to be fat, good for them. That is what it means to be free
This video hasn't been banned……yet
I know for a fact that cancel culture has gone to far.
Last week, I told a hilarious "I identify as vaccinated" joke and none of my co-workers laughed. They told me I "made that same joke 17 times yesterday" and I was "making everything awkward for everyone else" and that I should "stop watching Donkey Kong hentai on the work computers".
Is there no end to Political Corectness.
The pinnacle of rational thought we all came here for.
Seth: "This headline is titled ''MAN OF THE YEAR IS RACHEL LEVINE"
Also Seth immediately after: "But guys, you can't say this was a shot at the trans person identifying as a woman because this is my story, my way! F what makes sense, and F you for turning your brains on!"
Me: … k
This has to be one of the most misleading video PragerU has released in a while.
Doctors do assign sex at birth because sometimes gentials are not the clearest definer of a persons sex, and yet they are legally assigned certain sex's by the doctor.
Doctors do not say sex can be changed, they say gender can. It is quite worthy of mockery to say that consciousness is located in the genitals or chromosomes. Unless someone is willing to assert that, we would have to look at human consciousness and neurology to define how male or female someone is in that regard, which is a laughable waste of time.
You regularly show only parts of the information that is convenient to you. the rest of that Healthline article went on to say "Many AFAB folks who identify as men or who don’t identify as women have the reproductive organs necessary to carry a child. There are also emerging technologies that may make it possible for AMAB individuals to carry a child."
The mockery was of both of them, the headline was a mockery of USA today but the actual subject matter was a mockery of Rachel.
I can go on… seriously.
"As if doctors just make their best guess when they see a new born baby"
That is kinda how it actually goes especially for ambiguous genital situations or chromosome madness, which they can't as easily check, where you do get a huge amount of people in raw terms get assigned something that isn't objectively correct and can be fully incorrect, with all the non-consensual cutting of genitals people should actually complain about (like how John Money actually went which shows the inherantness of gender identity even if you try to raise them opposite). Like no matter how much you act as if biology still works under the creationist view of being perfect reality isn't simple.
Though why would Prageru's crossover with Babylon Bee, the worst satire site often repeating one joke hundreds of times only and hides being wrong assholes around joking, involve actual research into why certain terms are used over their "common sense" (an inhertantly flawed way to determine what is right or wrong) approach that it sounds weird and wrong. The actual scientific approach factors in edge cases, and certainly doesn't cut out numerous little stuff that adds up, into explanations. So yeah you shouldn't just say "the scientific consensus sounds weird to me therefore all those professionals are wrong" if you want to be seen positively.
If you want to look good prageru don't bring in people who don't understand how it actually works. Shame on you.
Fresh &Fit brought me here 🤔
I fully agree with the idea of this video but I think it needs a more in depth study. More examples and more logical arguments.
