If someone suggested to you that Americans should reject representative government and return to the rule of kings, you would laugh.
“This is America,” you would say. “In our revolution, we got rid of monarchy.”
And, of course, you’d be right – but only to a point. Monarchy is making a comeback – though not in the way you think.
Let me explain.
A king is one person. Get rid of him and you might get your freedom back.
But what do you do when the nation has come to be controlled by thousands of little king – almost supreme in their specialized fiefdoms – who have vast power over your life, much as a king might?
Good question, because that’s what we’re up against.
This regime is called the “administrative state.” Its little kings are unelected “bureaucrats,” officially known as “administrators,” “secretaries,” or even “czars.” And, make no mistake, they are very powerful. Their decisions affect us every day. The FDA, the FCC, the SEC, and so on and so on.
Put together almost any three or four random letters and chances are you’ve stumbled on a government agency. These agencies and the people in them shape our lives – often for the worse.
Many farmers in California lost their livelihoods because the Fish and Wildlife Service decided that the delta smelt
(a tiny fish) was more important than the farmers’ water supply. That decision may have been right, or it may have been wrong. My point is simply that the decision should have been made by our lawmakers—who are accountable to us at the next election.
Those farmers are among the millions of hard-working people directly hurt by the administrative state.
And many more millions have been indirectly hurt –
such as all those discouraged from even starting a business by miles of bureaucratic red tape.
This is not an argument against government regulation per se, but against regulation imposed by bureaucrats rather than by our elected lawmakers whom we can hold accountable at the next election.
Here’s the larger danger: As bureaucracy grows, individual freedom diminishes.
How did we get into this mess? And, more importantly, how do we get out of it?

Charley Reese's final column for the Orlando Sentinel… He has been a journalist for 49 years. He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.
This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican nor democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. Worth the time. Worth remembering!
545 vs. 300,000,000 People
-By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who
create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have A
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because the Congress created that problem. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. (The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.)
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? (John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. ) If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to. [The House has passed a budget but the Senate has not approved a budget in over three years. The President's proposed budgets have gotten almost unanimous ejections in the Senate in that time. ]
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not
traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan..
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees… We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.
What you do with this article now that you have read it… is up to you.
This might be funny if it weren't so true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:
STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most
prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the
largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
Ineptocracy: A system of government least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
omg how do conservatives get SO CLOSE to being correct…
jews
The only thing I see wrong with this is he's talking about it started at Woodrow Wilson's time when it really started at the civil war when the nation state Vatican come over to help rehabilitate our eastern part of our country from the war that they created they wanted our country starting at the revolutionary war when they sent England over to kill Washington and across the Continental army it didn't work rumor had it that we were going to build 100 ships to go and cross this 110 acre country they signed the treaty of Paris but in that site if you look up a painting that was never finished when this tree was being signed it was not finished because they were told not to finish it because they were coming back and take our country over again in 1811 they decided to invade or Capitol Washington DC and the district of Columbia and destroy every document that they could get their hands on the the Declaration of Independence the Constitution of the United States in any other documents that are forefathers wrote back and forth each other including the most important one has separation of church and state that's why they're called The Deep State hiding hiding their true identity I talked to this gentleman and he's a good!
WILLL-SONNN! 😤
So instead lets give everything to just 538 people thus leading to a slower mess that leads to nothing being done, and the courts wont strike it down as that could risk the DOJ.
Don't forget the DMV
Short answer: it's the jews
“Monarchy is making a comeback, though not in the way you think”
That comment aged very well. Look at everything that’s happened in the last 3 years. “15 days to flatten the curve”
Offering strong "unitary executive" power over the administrative "deep" state to the President makes him King. President George Washington created an administrative "cabinet," not described in the constitution, consisting of the Secretary of War, Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, and Attorney General (not an executive office) along with the judiciary to assist him with running the government and enforce the law.
Congress has, as well, established an administrative state to assist them with running the increasingly complex government and economy by delegating legislative power to experts to make the laws and ceded to the President to enforce the law. For example, its power to mint coins and achieve a congressional mandate is vested in the independent central bank while congress maintains oversight.
There is no way congress can legislate necessarily detailed law, so they pass legislation to guide the independent administrative agency experts. The president may appoint the head of the agency with the confirmation of congress. Empowering the executive to "control" the administrative state, thus subject to political influence, is a violation of the balance of powers as proposed in the conservative Mandate for Leadership Project 2025.
Fish and wildlife management is a federal agency. Under dual federalism, the federal government owns all public land, which was the founders intent. Federal lawmakers assigned these agencies with these tasks.
If Vivek is truthful, he will take down three quarters of this bureaucratic mess. I'll vote for Vivek.
bro's name is hamburger.
I totally agree, and FDR expanded the government and allowed for that to continue via a flawed, irrational interpretation of the Constitution that emerged from a New Deal SCOTUS case, U.S. v Butler.
The next election needs to be voting against the sickest & arrogant pedophile of them all….PEDO JOE B🖕DEN!!!!!
This just helped drive home my belief that Woodrow Wilson was the worst president
I think being a bureaucrat you don't get feminized by white people. That's actually good. I think in Nepal, bureaucrats have less power, I think that is more of a problem. Politicians can't get feminized, as Nepalese don't have that metaphysical tendency.
In fact Nepalese make politician more masculine.
My father wants me to be bureaucrat.
2:47 4:14
Cats. They and the Rothschilds own everything
Yet another reason I'm glad my alma mater is no longer named for Wilson.
Idiot.

October 31th, 2022, Index Number 1698:
Who rules America?
Well, Kanye West answered the question, and he got his bank accounts canceled!
I think Trump tried to solve this problem by introducing a new category of bureaucrats that could be fired. (No wonder certain people hate him!)
