Countless books, seminars, and gurus promise to teach you the “secrets” to success. Well, here’s my secret: There are no secrets to success.
Actually, it’s pretty simple. Want to excel in whatever you do? Get to work. Keep working. And don’t stop until the job is done. That’s called “work ethic.”
I’m the sideline reporter for NBC’s Sunday Night Football. I won’t lie – it’s a dream job. But it isn’t a dream-come-true. There’s no fantasy involved. Just a lifetime of hard work.
I had my first real job at 13. I was a papergirl. I delivered newspapers to people’s homes and sold subscriptions door-to-door. That job taught me persistence. I learned that to succeed, especially in sales, you have to knock on a lot of doors.
In high school, I worked at Baskin Robbins. The manager didn’t appreciate it when I gave out overly-generous portions to customers. That taught me accountability. Until you run the show, you answer to the person who does.
A few years later, I worked as a telemarketer for an insurance company. A lot of people look down on telemarketers. I don’t. If you think a legitimate job is beneath you, you don’t deserve that job – or any other. Like all telemarketers, I was rejected far more often than not. Usually, I didn’t get past the first sentence. But sometimes I did – enough to make some good money. The path to success is paved with failure.
As a waitress in college, I learned that you need to smile and treat customers well, even when you’re having a bad day. Leave your mood at the door, or expect to be shown the door.
After I graduated, I had seven jobs – count ‘em, seven! One of those was a public relations assistant in Los Angeles. It was fun, but it involved ridiculously long hours. That was okay, though. I got used to it. And when long hours were called for later, I was ready.
I went from PR to producing a morning radio show. The host had talent. We put out a good product. But it wasn’t enough – because timing and luck are also important, and you can’t control those. You can only control what you do. You just have to keep working. What choice do you have?
The radio show gave me the idea that I could be a host – the talent. I put together a demo and sent it out to every station I could find an address for. I finally caught the eye of a sports show in Charlotte, North Carolina. I decided that I would never think of myself as a “female sports reporter,” but just as a sports reporter. My ambition is to be the best sports journalist, period. What does being a woman have to do with it?
As the newbie, I was at the station all day, and took every assignment that I could, especially the ones no one else wanted. After five months, TV stations noticed I was scooping their stories and started calling. One of those was CBS Sports. I took that job.

God reward you with the best! ♥️🇧🇩
Bravo!
Real secret to succeed it what everyone knows. Try and error, and keep failing, accept and learn from your mistakes until you make it.
She works for and spends her own money, is willing to work long hours without any excuses, and holds herself accountable for her own mistakes. There wouldn't be any need for modern feminism if there were more women like this.
I worked at a Safeway for four years. And for some reason a new guy who was there for a year became an assistant manager. Four years a bagger and no promotion. 😢
Wow now I see why true conservatives are saying Prager U is promoting leftist agenda. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being described as a "Female sports journalist". Stop promoting the preferred pronoun crap!!!! I no longer support Prager U after seeing this crap!
people only see the end result but not the struggle and assume every success has been gifted.
👍To my surprise, saying something like this that advocates White supremacy didn't get her fired
i agree
as a former telemarketer attendant, i never had anyone say "tell me more"
I'm in college right now and I'm not doing well
I really appreciate your persistence and motivation. Being hard working has been paid off. It's the truth.
I did all that and more, but could never get a great job. After 50+ jobs, 17 years of college and study, strong work ethic, learning social, organizational and leaderships skills with many more, I still have not succeeded. I got to be a boss for a day. The job was a one day deal. I learned staying humble, letting others shine, relying on God, have a selflessly, strong work ethic was successful for that day. Praying for a great job after years of work and trying. Would like to follow Gods lead and hopefully He will direct me in the legal field before it is too late.
Just what I needed to hear. Keep working! 💪
Gets tiring when you don't see the desired results but just keep at it because quitting is not an option for me.

I have a message for confused human beings around the world of every generation especially the younger generation coming from a young man myself born in 1998. I believe the younger generation needs to fix themselves rather than trying to fix other people in this world because in my honest opinion you cannot fix people it is up to people to fix themselves period.
Pssssst. Don't tell anybody that the secret to wealth is to earn money from capital…
Step 1: Insert silver spoon in womb
Step 2: Get born rich
Step 3: Inherit
Step 4: Don't tell anybody
Step 5: Repeat the "get an eddurcation and just work hard"-myth over and over and over and over and over and over and over….lol
No I'm not "jealous". I'm doing quite well thank you very much…
This is what the youth needs to hear, not “the system is rigged” “don’t even try” or “become dependent on big gov.” Give them this, and so much more of it!! Thanks, PragerU!
I was feeling down, this video made me feel better.
That 'don't stop until the job is done' I took that to heart. I work in retail, which mean you have limited hours to get the job done… no overtime at all. What does this mean? This means that there will be times where you can not finish the job because they do not allocate the correct amount of hours for the job. I didn't care I would consistently go over 40 hours every single week, so much so that I was seriously putting my job on the line because that's one of the biggest rules you can break in retail. I didn't give a shit about there hourly budget because I had too much pride in my work and I simply could not leave work unfinished, it just would hurt my pride to much. Eventually management worked something out so that I have the correct amount of time to finish my work without going over 40 hours. It's a win win I get to finish my job and for them the department ( frozen food in this case) always looked spectacular while at the same time they weren't losing money on my paychecks lol.
JOB = just over broke

The blue skin color of the woman who answered the door legit startled me.
Good for her. I missed this when it was ordinarily released. I have newfound respect for Michele Tafoya! Well done!
That's 4 minutes of my life I am not getting back!
The secret… shill for billionaires. Works every time!
PLEASE MOVE TO YT ALT!
If only it was actually that simple
Ha! I made it to 6AM…
very practical.
Taking on jobs nobody else wants is the best job security.
Anyone can achieve anything if they work .
I enjoy making music and the only way I’ve improved was to keep learning and working at it.. the times where I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere was because I temporarily quit. No secret.
Why doesn‘t she mention her master‘s degree? Hard work only pays off if you have a perspective. Otherwise this advice will make you a slave of your work. That‘s the real intention of this video I think.
