When people describe particularly evil individuals or regimes, why is it that they use the terms “Nazi” or “fascist,” but almost never “communist?” Given the unparalleled amount of human suffering communists have caused, why is “communist” so much less a term of revulsion than “Nazi?”
Communists killed 70 million people in China, more than 20 million people in the Soviet Union (not including about 5 million Ukrainians), and almost one out of every three Cambodians. And communists enslaved entire nations in Russia, Vietnam, China, Eastern Europe, North Korea, Cuba and much of Central Asia. They ruined the lives of well over a billion people. So, why doesn’t communism have the same terrible reputation as Nazism?
Reason Number 1: There is, simply put, widespread ignorance of the communist record. Whereas both right and left loathe Nazism and teach its evil history, the left – and I’m talking about the left, not traditional liberals like Harry Truman or John F. Kennedy – has never loathed communism. And since the left dominates academia, almost no one teaches communism’s evil history.
Reason Number 2: The Nazis carried out the Holocaust. Nothing matches the Holocaust for pure evil. The rounding up of virtually every Jewish man, woman, child, and baby on the European continent and sending them to die is unprecedented and unparalleled. The communists killed far more people than the Nazis, but never matched the Holocaust in the systemization of genocide. The uniqueness of the Holocaust and the enormous attention rightly paid to it have helped ensure that Nazism has a worse name than communism.
Reason Number 3: Communism is based on nice sounding theories; Nazism isn’t. It’s based on heinous sounding theories. Intellectuals in general – including, of course, the intellectuals who write history – are seduced by words – so much so, that they deem actions as less significant than words. For that reason, they haven’t focused nearly as much attention on the horrific actions of communists as they have on the horrific actions of the Nazis. They dismiss the evils of communists as perversions of “true communism.” But they regard Nazi atrocities (correctly) as the logical and inevitable results of Nazism.
Reason Number 4: Germans have thoroughly exposed the evils of Nazism, have taken responsibility for them, and have attempted to atone for them. Russians have not done anything similar regarding Lenin’s or Stalin’s horrors. To the contrary, Lenin, the father of Soviet communism, is still widely venerated in Russia. And as regards Stalin, as University of London Russian historian Donald Rayfield puts it, “People still deny, by assertion or implication, Stalin’s holocaust.” Even less so has China exposed the greatest mass murderer and enslaver of them all, Mao Zedong. Mao remains revered in China. Every Chinese currency note has his picture on it. Until Russia and China – and Vietnam, and Cuba, and North Korea – acknowledge the evils their countries committed under communism, communism’s evils will remain less known than the evils of the German state under Hitler.

Because the victors write history
Truth
reason number 7; the zionist lobby
European colonizers killed approximately 56 million Indigenous people and yet we still celebrate colonized America and teach how haroic the leaders of these genocides are to school children… see any similarities?
It's the communists that hate it. There's way more of them…
It is interesting 7 years later to see almost 1/3 of people disliked this video. There seem to be many more mass murdering commies out there than I realised. Europe is practically a communist state. It makes the 3rd Reich look like a kindergarten bully. Modern communism is a different flavour of the same rotten poison. This will not end well.
Because nazism is an ideology that is inherently designed to persecute Jews and Slavic people and puts one man in control of many others. Communism is an ideology designed to reduce worker exploitation and produce more equality. Although both have failed and killed many people, Someone flying the soviet flag is usually trying advocating for economic equality while someone flying the nazi flag is usually an antisemetic racist. Hence why many countries have passed laws banning nazi flags but not commie flags.
Yep
Because people do not understand how many communism has murdered.
America needs a heavy dose of McCarthy-ism. How are we a democracy with self describing communists and socialists in our elected office???
To that group of deadly totalitarian systems, I would count Islam too. 1) it concerns with all levels of life from the birth, medicine, family to the laws (shariah) and form of state (theocracy, caliphate) 2) it wants to rule the world. That “peace religion” understands that peace will be reached, when all people are Muslims, dead or subordinate (enslaved), 3) the main method to achieve that “Islamic peace” is war.
Because the people that write the school books, the people that teach students, the people that control the media, the people that make movies, the people that make documentaries…..the great majority of them are communists.
Я официально , от лица российских левых сообщаю тебе Прагер : ты е**ный пи***бол , как и многие буржуазные политики .
The strong jewish influence behind communism has alot to do with it`s perception.
I think a big reason is because, while Stalin and Mao both knew of ethnicities that they wanted to eradicate from their countries, calling yourself a communist doesn’t imply that you’re racist, like how calling yourself a Muslim doesn’t imply you’re a terrorist.
Oy vey
I'd rather have cancer than communism
When we talk about nazi the 1:29 first image come to mind was the image death camp like belsen belsen.
To date there is no image showing mass deportation of ethnic group such as tartar or polish .
Better marketing
Actions of capitalists/imperialists countries list.
WW1 – 20 million deaths
English colonized empire in India – more than 100,000,000 millions deaths.
USA – dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan – Instantly 300,000 deaths, for years million people born deformed or died from symptoms.
USA – Invaded Iraq more than 1,000,000 ( For gas)
USA – Invaded Vietnam, Cuba, Korea and more, million deaths
USA – Bombed 1/3 of the world – thousand deaths
French colonized empire – more 800,000 – 1,000,000 deaths
Also Africa is not a communist country…. – MILLION deaths because of POVERTY every year.
Million people in ''free economy'' don't have access to clean water or food or healthcare and so on.
So why capitalism/imperialism isn't as hated as communism?
1990
Communism and Nazism are secular ideologies and the fact that Atheists try to attack Abrahamic faiths for anything is well funny after all it was them, they were the archetictures and perpertrators of the massacres, famines and genocides that the world endured under these two ideologies.
Because commies control the narrative, that's why.
Nice work Praeger.
Why isn’t conservatism as hated as Nazism, that’s a question I’d like to ask, to me, there is no difference between a conservative and a Nazi and I think wearing a confederate flag shirt should be seen as no different from wearing a swastika shirt, not to mention 7 million people starve to death every year because of conservatism
Communism won WW2 🤮
Thank you for this reminder
Something to add. If communism was hated as much as Nazism, then Star Wars wouldn’t exist. Many movies especially science fiction and military and action after WW2 were influenced in some way or another by communism, with most villains being inspired a bit by the Third Reich (Galactic Empire). After all, you had the red scare in the 50’s with Hollywood. But I love Star Wars.
Also not to mention the destabilization in Iraq which resulted in isis being formed so I would say capitalism killed a heck of a lot of people something Pragur u failed to mention conveniently
Also they literarily let nazi and Japanese war criminals go without any punishment for their war crimes and instead payed them in their effort to stop capitalism so theirs that too
Also the deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of capitalist interest
Not to mention adding in the deaths of the Korean War and Vietnam war
Nixon a capitalist leader funded pol pot and was responsible for the death and destruction he caused
