With so many prophecies fulfilled by Christ and a few more to be fulfilled, that's why I believe.
It is quite remarkable really. I can comprehend, understand and even respect(the belif) of someone who is dead sure God exists, but the person who is dead sure he exists can not comprehend, understand or respect, that I, another person, does not BELIEVE as they do. Would you like to comment on that? (Apologies for my english, it is not my first language)
What strikes me is this use of the phrase "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness"- to the degree that we express ourselves to others with phrases we didn't invent and which we may not even understand, we are not communicating any actual thoughts. This is what George Orwell called "duckspeak". So how is "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness" different from just suppressing the truth? Is that not by itself unrighteous? And why suppressing it, as opposed to denying it? Another good example: "The wages of sin is death". I suggest comparing how much people who use this exact phrase from the KJV are actually thinking about what it means, as compared with , say, "the wages of sin are death." or "the reward for sin is death."
Do Christians actually believe this about Atheists? I'd really be interested to hear from a Christian, why non-belief is impossible, and all atheists must simply be pretending.
Care to present some actual evidence for your supposed god before making all of these assertions?
There is no reason or logic on this channel, only irrational belief in superstition.
Is your channel's name supposed to be satirical?
As an atheist, I couldn't bring myself to thumb this video down because I found it so entertaining.
I'll save people the trouble of watching this almost 3 minute video. He keeps bringing up the bible to support the claims of the bible.
You get this wrong. It should be 'Theists suppress the truth with self-righteousness'.
GIGO
Atheists deny God because they want to sin?
And I suppose people pretend that police don't exist so they can commit crimes?
"You can't arrest me, officer, you don't exist!"
The moment you find anyone using this as a legal defense, I may consider your position somewhat plausible.
You people just want to commit crimes, so that's why you believe police men don't exist! Because as we all know, pretending policemen don't exist when they actually do makes crime okay to do. It says so right here in my book, Morans Chapter 1, which very clearly states: "ya'll just don't believe in the police 'cuz ya want to do bad things."
See, in this analogy the police is god. You feel that god is very real, and we understand that you think that. The point is that your explanation for why people don't believe in god is nonsensical. If I actually thought there was some disembodied mind called "god", I wouldn't deny it – I'd say "sure, there is a god. If he's anything like the god of the bible, then he's a monster, and I'm morally superior to him."
This guy thinks Muslims believe "I want to sin, so I'm not going to be a Christian. Instead, I'll join some religion that is even more restrictive!"
This explains why Christians believe that heavier things fall faster than lighter things.
… They don't? Then they're obviously Devil worshippers. They're suppressing the truth in unrighteousness.
“Imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, ‘This is an interesting world I find myself in, an interesting hole I find myself in, fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!’ This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it’s still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise."
You are too old to think, just die already.
Theists ignore truth in self-righteousness.
Atheists discuss truth with irreverence.
Bullshit, if I thought god exist and I wanted to sin I'd be a christian. That way I could just be a cunt then die happy knowing I'm ok because jesus paid to atone for my sins.
not sure if more appalled by your ignorance or your arrogance. nobody gives a fuck what your book says. Your book is the claim. it Is not evidence. You fucking idiot. there isn't one single solitary shred of evidence that your invisible friend is real. feel free to provide evidence period not going to hold my breath however
Isn't it funny how those "false religions" are exactly like yours? Why are you denying the obvious existence of Odin, he made everything you know. I'm going outside now and deny the existence of laws and cops, which I know exist, so I can commit crimes with no repercussions. Just like those people you seem to think "claim to" believe in other gods/religions, that punish sins HARDER than yours, so they can sin with NO punishment. Because apparently that works and makes sense, to you…
00:32 – Romans 1:20 says that God's eternal power and divine nature are the invisible attributes we all supposedly see in nature. So what are the things in the natural world around us that clearly reflect divinity and eternality? And why don't Christians instinctively point out these natural evidences instead of merely reciting the passage in Romans? Could it be that reciting the passage is much, much easier than identifying the "clear" invisible attributes?
Yeah evidences for Gods is everywhere – war, famine, murder, bone cancer in children, plagues, debauchery. There is so much evidence for Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh. Death to the False Emperor!!!
Show me this evidence and I'll believe it. Be warned, you'll have to explain why it is evidence, how you know any god had a hand in it. BTW, atheists don't worship ANYTHING. We simply lack a belief in any sort of divine being.
Sorry old man, what you are describing as obvious is only OPINION. It's obviously NOT obvious to everyone or everyone wouldn't have a choice but to believe
I always found it funny how atheists attack a god they don't believe exists, and define themselves by lack of belief in what they claim to be an imaginary entity. Now, many people don't believe in unicorns, yet I've never heard of entire groups of people getting together and calling themselves "unicorn agnostic" or "aunicorneist". They deny something they know is true and by their active rejection, confirm it. The reality of it is that atheists hate God, they know He exists, and sweat profusely trying to deny this.
Theists Just suppress the False, can't admit their 2 arguments are unsound i.e. they pretend they are sound. They suppress the obvious TRuth that their Pathetic 2 arguments were defeated.
haha don't use the bible to try generalize atheists. the only people you can generalize with that book are Christians; and even then they don't live up to the damned book cause it's horrendous. You're acting like you're the one saying there's something bigger than us, and we're suppressing it, when in actuality you believe your god "created the universe for us", and atheists understand that humans are just another part of the universe. that's why theists are so quick to act like human actions aren't natural.
Another deadhead who cherry picks the horrid tome of contradictory mythological claims, since, in the tome it presents that there are people who don't believe it.
I wonder if this guy thinks the Noah's Ark tale is factual?
At this point, it's not even frustrating that people still clutch to an archaic book of obvious mythology like the bible against all reason and evidence. It's sad and pathetic.
Trying to tell me what I'm thinking and what I believe or don't believe in is wrong, when you have no idea what I think believe or don't believe… quite an arrogant assumption there.
Someone should tell them that appealing to the bible only works to those who believe in it.
I think who ever was the author of that verse was brillant because this will basically stop all further research into the gofd claim. But to actually think this is a valid argument does not realize that it is just circular reasoning. The bible is true because the bible says it is.
I am sorry I do not know that your god exists and you just sating that I really do know will not make it true. I almost laughed that you actually tried to use this argument.
If you really want to convince an atheist to believe, then here is your chance. This is the first in a series of questions that if they can be answered reasonably and logically I will become a believer. (Fair warning: no one as passed question one.)
1. How do I tell fact from fiction when it comes to faith? There are thousands of religions almost all of them make the same exact claims. They have "The real book from God/Gods". They've had a personal experience that showed them their particular god/gods are real and tell me if I "open my heart their god/gods will reveal themselves to me". Since so many say these things who do I tell the real from the fake?
I read Romans 1. I read the whole bible. From front to back. Have you read it that way?
Have you ever met an atheist? Have you ever spoken to one?
This is an easy one. No.
Atheist= Stand to Reason.
Christian= Kneel to Worship.
. this is such a childish rant!! The "evidence of god" is .. what now? .. "god's activity" that is "evident to everyone" ?? Can you provide any sort of evidence that supports this assertion? No. No, you can't. If you want to know what atheists think, start by asking one. Otherwise, stop lying about them. You're not supposed to do that. Says so in the 9th commandment, remember that one?
Regarding Hinduism—and because the Bagdavita informs them, are Christians just suppressing the Truth in unrighteousness?
Regarding Judaism—and because the Torah informs them, are Christians just suppressing the Truth in unrighteousness while worshiping a Pagan God?
Regarding Islam—and because the Koran informs them, are Christians just suppressing the One-True-God, Allah, in unrighteousness?
Regarding Mormonism—and because the Book of Mormon informs them, are the unenlightened Christians just suppressing the Truth—period?
Regarding the faithful Jehovah’s Witnesses, why are the average Christians just following the Great Satan?
Unlike the Buddhists, are Christians just suppressing reality and just practicing hatred and bigotry?
I love the term "righteousness", meaning actions that are justified because they are pleasing to God. Stoning people who entice you to leave your faith, according to Deuteronomy, is something that pleases God and is a righteous act. Fortunately most Christians don't actually follow the rules that they claim are laid down by this completely obvious all-mighty creator of the Universe.
over a thousand years of failure, yet christians continue using romans 1 as an argument. Madness is expecting a result which every piece of data contra indicates. Therefore christians are MAD.
You might have a point if there was evidence that ANY event in the Old Testament actually happened, or that there was any evidence that the Jesus character in the New Testament was actually a real person. Heck, none of the New Testament writers even claim to have met this Jesus fellow, at least when he was alive that is.
Oh what is this? The fact of our existence does not presuppose the existence of God. Present some real, testable, objective evidence, then come back.
If the evidence that your deity exists is so obvious, why not present that evidence? You mentioned two arguments, if they can be called that, that have no evidence at all. If you present actual evidence and then atheists, then you might be onto something. Otherwise, you are just spouting nonsense.
Are Christians just whistling in the dark?
+ "they refuse to Love the Truth that they might be saved".
"The evidence of God is so obvious.."
It isn't if you need arguments–which is something you admit i.e. the teleological and cosmological argument
…exactly right Greg. I think psychiatrists would call it "repression" rather than the biblical "suppression".
This isn't just an atheist problem, but human problem. People can use all sorts of devices to suppress the truth and exchange it for the lie. But it's more even than that I think. I submit that even for Xians to sin it is necessary for us to temporarily suppress at least some portion of the truth (which we hold by faith) to be able to sin. Unbelief is necessary to suppress the truth for the purpose of sinning.
[Rom 14:23 NKJV] 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because [he does] not [eat] from faith; for whatever [is] not from faith is sin.
If "whatever is not from faith" = "sin", then "sin" = "whatever is not from faith". Or is my logic faulty here? I see this as universal, even among Xians. Though obviously not to the same degree and effectiveness as in the unbeliever who has only one nature, and it fallen.
To say that the evidence of God is clearly seen through things that are made, or like natural revelation.. Is that making an assumption that things are made? I thought the whole point was an atheist wanting proof that things are made, but responding by saying God is obvious from the things that are made, idk that just seems circular and it's like you're assuming the thing you're trying to prove. I guess this is where we would go to the classical arguments for God, like cosmological and teleological, but those things have to be studied and aren't really obvious, or maybe those arguments themselves are making assumptions. Just seems no matter how far back you take it, assumptions are always being made.
Not every stance on religion is Christian-centric. Is it really impossible for people to have different understandings and explanations of natural things? If you believe that non-Christians know that the Christian god exists but just suppress it, then you haven't actually talked to, or at least really listened to, a non-Christian.
