Banished From His Mormon Mission
What is like when you begin to realize that the words of the Mormon Prophets are not the truth? How does the Mormon leadership react when a Mormon Missionary preaches that grace alone is needed for salvation? This short clip is from my longer interview with Jack Phillips and Jonathan Scruggs.

I'm exmormon and a big fan of Sean for his bridge building conversations. I can't help but to comment. I feel like Mike's Mormon faith crisis journey is in the minority (ending up christian). I really wonder if Mike has seen the parallels in his own Mormon faith crisis and how Christians describe their deconstructions. I can't help but feel like it's a similar experience. Does he ever have similar doubts about his Christian faith? If so. Why are his Mormon questions and concerns more valid that his Christian question?
I've heard a lot of Christian deconstruction stories and can't help but feel like it's a very similar to my Mormon faith crisis.
Why aren't the majority of exmormons that are earnestly seeking truth and God coming to the same true conclusion? If god is out there why does it seem like he is not letting all the people leaving their childhood faith find him? Why is atheism winning the converts? We aren't talking about people who want to sin. We are just talking about people seeking truth. People willing to sacrifice everything to God if they could find him.
I am told by my Mormon family that I should have faith. That I should choose to believe. That gods ways are not man's ways. That I should trust god and not the intellect of man. That I should be humble and trust god. That you can't prove god exists because that would deny us our faith. That spiritual knowledge is different that physical knowledge.
But I see many religious traditions using similar reasoning. Why has god set up a method for finding him that can be hijacked by false prophets?
I am willing to give my whole heart and soul to God. So far I can see no difference in all the belief systems. I see many many people struggling through this life wanting the answers so bad that they come up with a narrative. Some really beautiful narratives. Some very "true" narratives. However, I can't justify the level of certainty that is expected in any of the religions I've investigated.
I am glad that Mike found peace. Unfortunately for many people that deconstruct not only the Mormon part of our belief but also the Christ part of our belief. I wonder if I feel toward the new testament like mike feels toward the book of Mormon.
Why is it that faith is used as a certainty stick to justify being confident that we are right and the Mormons are wrong. Or that the atheists are wrong. Or that that really progressive christian church that allows gay marriage is wrong? How do we know we are believing the right way? How do we know it's not just our own reasoning that keeps us believing what we already believe?
As a former Mormon (now Non-Christian) Micah's incite about all the old-testament-iness (or old-law-ness) was something definitely noticeable
From the Mormon Mission into the hands of a cessationist. Nice..
Hi Sean,
I just wrote the following in another video of yours, but not your channel. Let me repeat:
Thank you for this. I belong to x generation, and I was really blessed by Josh(Sean's father) McDowell's book "MORE THAN A CARPENTER." I've been following your channel this year and listening to you while driving from work. Very encouraging to be so scripturally grounded!
More recently, I've heard Steven Bancarz's testimony. He was a 20 year old "new age expert" youtuber who turned to Christ and is now speaking about the dangers of New Age… since like 4 years ago? He also wrote a book: "The Second Coming of New Age." I listened to several of his testimonies, and a short film he made of "Why Jesus Died on the Cross." He is soooo young, and yet, his understanding of scripture is so deep. I am just amazed. I get goosebumps thinking of how much God must be using him to reach this confused generation.
I like apologetics. R.C. Sproul is one of my heroes. So is C.S. Lewis. And let me tell you, I am confident Steven Bancarz can do apologetics well. He has a gift. I hope you could connect with this young prodigy and I feel like a treasured conversation will be at hand. Have you heard of him?
Cheers to you all. And God bless you!
We talk of Christ we rejoice in Christ we preach of Christ we prophecy of Christ that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins LDS
Sean's Phd is now taking in effect. My guy looked like a surgeon with that outfit!
Amen
Isn’t it interesting how a Church that calls itself ‘The Church of JESUS CHRIST’ feels threatened when JESUS becomes the centre of focus instead of Joseph Smith.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅😅😅😝😝😝
and again the Christians attacking each other, with nothing but baseless nonsense on both sides.
Waoh! Jesus is alive!
Hallelujah, so blessed to hear this testimony, thank God for His saving grace!
I get so much from Sean and his ministry, I can’t help but to wonder if he is a Tin Tin fan
Blessings
Thank you for your work
What an amazing testimony, praise God!
