If God does not exist then rape is not evil. Its just atoms in motion and nothing more.
The so-called "natural world" itself is a mere postulate, an idea and we Christians shouldn't take that idea as if it was an actual object for what's precisely in question is whether natural world minus God outside and above it is natural – a natural world. Naturalism is not based. It is an ideology in place of relation between man and God
It’s wrong because God says so. Simple as that. Deuteronomy 22.
Rape isn't wrong because it is against the nature of a fictitious deity. It is wrong because I determine rape to be wrong.
Each and every individual is the sole arbiter of his/her own morality. Morality is the cognitive process of differentiating between intentions, decisions, and actions that are appropriate from those inappropriate. And like all assessments, moral assessments are always and necessary subjective.
Likewise, each and every individual is soley responsible for the intentions, decisions, and actions based upon those moral assessments.
As an atheist, all any of us need to live by is: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So you wouldn't rape, steal, lie or hurt anyone in any way, physically or mentally. This credo is ancient, older than any current religion.
Subjective morality is not morality at all.
There are moral systems that are different than the traditional Western system based on Judaeo-Christian values, e.g. Social Darwinism (not quite dead) and, and the warrior/honor values of Rome (and Islam?), etc. Rather than asking someone to eaplin why the J-C values are valid, I think it is a more pointed question to ask which of these systems is to be preferred, and why.
God's morality corresponds with reality. Atheists know it is wrong. We all know it's wrong.
actually the bible says for women to marry there rapists so how can it be wrong to rape in god's eyes?
