As an attorney, Harrison successfully defended a college student named Thomas Marshall against a libel charge. Marshall, a Democrat, later became Vice-President under Woodrow Wilson. Harrison defended him for free, and Marshall never forgot.
I didn't know about the virtues of Benjamin Harrison. He was a moral person. God bless his soul.
We dearly need another president like him today.
The only president to have survived devils palm and gain a stand
Then Benjamin Harrison after that
He Didn’t Belong In The Presidency, He Didn’t Truly Understand The Job Of The Presidency & He Married His Niece, Gross 🤢
Great president overall, as a libertarian i still struggle with antitrust legislation from a purely principles point of view…IF and only IF a monopoly is the result of free market, then i dont see the moral justification for government to come in and break it up forcefully, even if they offer financial compensation, that money is anyway coming from the taxpayers that the law supposedly intended to protect…
He added the most states of any president in only 4 years.
To be fair, I don't think Grover Cleveland, whom he both succeeded and was later defeated by, was a bad president, either.
Tippecanoe and Morton Too!
Fascinating! I once heard that while his grandfather gave the longest inauguration speech (and died from complications due to exposure in about a month), Benjamin Harrison gave one of the shortest 😊
Standing next 2..William Sherman…Yankee general 1861 to 1865
The last president to sport a beard.
Tariffs are horrendous for people, if the goal is a rising standard of living.
Big Government douche. Precursor to Progressive douches.
Videos like these are what confuse me about Prager sometimes. Don't get me wrong, all the anti-slavery/discrimination stuff here is good, but nothing else about Harrison seems particularly conservative or helpful. "He hired a young Teddy Roosevelt!" Um, TR was awful and in no way a conservative. "He helped implement the Sherman Anti-Trust Act!" Not a helpful or productive piece of legislation at all. "He raised tariffs to help American business!" Really? Conservatives are somehow pro-tariff now and willing to ignore Econ 101? Thankfully Grover Cleveland succeeded Harrison and righted this wrong – Prager should be doing a video praising him instead.
The only real takeaway I get from this video is "Bejamin Harrison should be respected as president because he did a lot of things!" Great. So did FDR, LBJ, and Barack Obama. We should be celebrating presidents that do as little as possible and let markets function. Coolidge FTW.
Harrison is an underrated President
Harrison shares the same birthday as my mom.
Wow the introduction of government regulations in the meat industry, and appointing a progressive Roosevelt to a commission! Sounds good to me!
Do William McKinley
President Benjamin Harrison was also the first president to light a Christmas tree in the White House!!
Trump will leap frog Biden like Cleveland did to Harrison
Thank you for this beautiful piece of history
Let us not forget, what he did to bolster the U.S. Navy. And most important to me right now as I am the father of a 8 yr old little girl in the 3rd grade, he signed a proclamation to have all of America's schools fly high, the American flag as well as recite the Pledge of Allegiance. He, the republican president signed this proclomation.
My daughter attends a local and private Christian school in Bellevue WA that says the POA is of liberal and socialist origin. FALSE! Just because Francis Belamy was a Christian Socialist, doesn't mean that the POA is so bad that we should ban our children from saying the POA. In fact, no one rightfully knows who definitively and factually wrote the poem (POA). It was either Fracis Belamy, or James Upham who wrote it. But to this very day, no one actually knows.
Irregardless, you know who, too, was a Christian Socialist? Dr. King! That doesn't mean he was a terrible man. Quite the contrary. Dr. King was a wonderful and integral man of and for the Civil Rights Movement, and yet my daughters school saw fit to celebrate and honor his birthday this month of January. In fact, my daughter recited Dr. Kings "Blueprint" speech for the whole lower class school! My whole family recognizes Dr. King as integral for a better America.
Why is Francis Belamy considered to be a basterd of sinful nature!? Just because he was a supposed socialist???! Christian Socialisim doesn't make either men a bad example. The POA is essential for our young boys and girls to gain a foundation of love, honor, and respect for our country.
Thank you for this video of President Benjamin Harrison. I very much appreciate it and plan on using it as a tool to bring ammo to my argument to the officals of the school in order to bring the POA back to her classrooms.
It's insane how many Presidents we just don't know about. It makes me wonder if any Presidents alive during my lifetime will be this forgotten.
We don’t have career politicians that are honest any longer.
I wanna see PragerU make a video on Donald Trump. Mostly just for the liberal meltdowns.
I'm writing this before the whole video has run. But B. Harrison and Garfield were stand up guys
