BTS 8: 3 Reasons You Won't Read Through the Bible
OK, this is reverse psychology. We think you should read the Bible. But it is hard. We go over the three top reasons that prevent people from reading the Bible and introduce a new Bible reading plan called “Read Scripture” that uses our videos and will help you get through the Bible.

c'est musique de l'été !
8 years late(r) is not late. Starting today. Why wait 'til Jan 1? Can't afford it 🙂
Our pastor has a reading plan for us. He reads the bible to us, and we follow along in our bibles. I don't read the whole chapter everyday, but the next day I catch up. Our pastor comments when he comes to certain points.
dimanche 13fevrier2005!
I listened to an audio version by a Catholic priest 😂 It had commentary attached. Did it in a few months. Like crack. Trying to get through the catechism now but think I'd rather just spend more time with Bible Project, which is where I started. I love Tims teachings from when he worked as a pastor. If Tim started a church in Los Angeles he'd have to kick me out of the building 😬
Thankyou 2023 😂

So I can't explain why I am just now seeing this video in 2023, but we get there when we get there. It was my disaster of reading through the Bible that drove me accidently to The Bible Project
I had success, but I took my time, and read EVERY day, many times only one chapter, but did it. And start over and keep on reading and reading,,,,,,,,
Josephus is very difficult to read. However, when I began my journey of reading through the Bible, was not a New Years resolution. The reason I wanted to read through it is because I wanted understanding and knowledge. I have had great success! The only goal I set is that I read daily. Sometimes I only read 1 Chapter, and sometimes I read more. I also do not give myself an end date of completion because it is never ending, I start all over and just keep reading, and I always learn. The other thing that reading the Bible will accomplish is a better understanding of what you read. I think a mindset when you decide to read the Bible will help. As you said the Bible is a "hard read" and I frequently look for brief video of summary, I don't particularly like bias commentary, I like others "cliff notes" of the readings and like to make my interpretations. I recently found you on Youtube and love your comments on each Book of the Bible, I especially like the graphics, thank you.
I started using this a few years ago and it has changed my life. It's still my favorite plan and I have done it multiple times. Thank you so much
I was planning to get to the new testament after David's story
I read through The Bible in 2012 before I went to Israel thank you for this YouTube video I am going to read it again. 10 years later hopefully I will acquire more wisdom.
I am reading the through Bible right now. I am in Psalms now. Leviticus wasn't that hard for me to understand, Deuteronomy was harder for some reason.
the bible project animated videos. have really helped me in my bible reading experience. especially in reading the bible through the year. I felt like giving up when I came to leviticus, but your videos on the book were very enlightening on the book and its theme of Holiness was mind blowing. thank you very much The bible project.
Would God make his message so hard to read? If the Bible was divinely inspired, I'd expect it to be much more accessible.
Read it on 2013 and reading/listening to it again from the Bible apps/Bible project's 1 year plan
Going to check this out
Thank you
Millions of Muslims have not only read but memorised the Quran word by word. How many Christians do you know who have read the Bible????
Dear BibleProject, I hope you get to read this.
I started reading the Bible shortly prior to the pandemic, your videos motivated me and helped me understand, especially in the beginning. Now I’m studying theology and am thinking of becoming a priest. Yesterday I started on the Book of Revelation. Soon I will have finished reading the entire Bible with your help. God bless your work and thank you.
Wow, you guys literally just read me out! Reading through the Bible was my #1 goal for 2021, I started on January 31st and finished on September 14th 🙏🏾 To God be the Glory 🙌🏾 I thank God for helping me to remain committed and consistent, I am so happy to finally complete it and now that I have, I have renewed faith and hope in God looking forward to Jesus's return and evangelize to others about Him. I plan to read it over again in another version next year 😁
Ps. The Bible Project was one of the resources I used to garner more understanding of what I read in each book. I used the YouVersion Bible app to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation 👍🏾
I have read the Bible cover to cover 3 times, at 9, 11, 13, kept reading it, now I'm reading it again with my youth group, I called it a book club, we stop and read chapter by chapter so far we have read 8 bookssoon we will start John after reading Gen through Deuteronomy, Colossians and Mathew Mark and Luke till chapter 20 and next week ch 21… i was sick for 6 months but we have never stopped, we kept reading online. My prayer is to be able to read the whole Bible with them…
I'm reading through the Bible now. I once read the Bible when I was younger. I'm hoping to get a better meaning this time around. And I read 6 Psalms daily. Like Billy Graham did with his wife Ruth. Praise Jesus!
What bible do you guys read, seems like you have more detail than the kjv offers
Agreed!!! Right now I'm in the middle of Isaiah…I love the Story of the Bible. Some of my teachers suggested that I start with The Book of John… I actually started with the Book of Revelation!! The Bible Project helps me dig deeper into my understanding and overall clarity of the Language, the History and the Real life experiences of the whole story.. Love your work and I will continue to follow your projects and donate…Jesus is the Way!! The only path …….
I just recently finished reading it for the first time. I read along to the audio version a chunk every morning for 5 months before I finally finished it. That helped tremendously. Great work, guys!
Thank you, guys! This is the first time in my 55 years of being a Christian that I have continued reading thru the Bible. It is great to focus using the videos and I have learned to love the psalms. Reading Mark noe and excited to finish so I can start again. Even got my friends started, too. I thank God for you!
So you guys do such a great job at providing a "Cliff Notes" version of the Bible, it makes it even harder now to read the Bible. I have a feeling any people will now no longer consider reading the Bible and just watch your videos…how do you feel about that? All kidding aside, your videos are a great compliment for those who are actually going to be reading the Bible.
Isn't it a bit deceiving saying "There's a talking snake in Genesis 3?" The term is "serpent, and apparently serpents prior to this event, were able to walk around, because part of the curse was it would crawl on its belly. Another thing, before the fall of man, everything was perfect. Who's to say that the animals and humans were not able to talk to each other? It didn't seem to be something out of the ordinary when the serpent started talking to Eve, which leads me to believe that other animals also talked to her and her husband. All that was ruined when man sinned. That's another interesting point. It doesn't seem to be that they realized that they were naked until Adam ate of the forbidden fruit. And it was to him that the commandment was given and the penalty given for not obeying that one command. So Eve was deceived, with Adam standing right there letting it happen, but when he ate THEY died.
You are so right that I won't read through the bible in 2016 haha. I've been working on it for about a year now and I'm in Nehemiah.
I'm on First of Kings, partially because of your work.
Thanks👍
I was gifted a One Year Bible years ago and it changed my life in a dramatic positive way. HalleluYah! I've now read through the Bible twice and am currently on my third read. It keeps me in scripture daily, brings me closer to Christ and isn't a daunting task thanks to the layout. You can find a copy for yourself under $5 on ebay. God bless everyone!
I'm doing the plan for this year, 2021. I can't wait to see how everything flows together.
Thanks to The Bible Project And the Read Scripture App, I have successfully read cover to cover for several years. I even wore out one Bible. I gave it to my adult son as a testimony of faith.
Without Read Scripture I would never have completed these goals.
You are correct – we cannot, not read through the Bible.
I started a plan called Rapid Bible Read Through a few years ago where you try to read the Bible chronologically in 4 months. The third year, I did what you suggested here, where I listened to your overview of each book before I read it. So helpful! Keith Ferrin, who i joined to do this endeavor said "The purpose and reward for reading God's Word is to fall more in love with the Author." That is so true. The last 3 years I've done the RBRT 3 times each year, taking time off for Advent and Lent to do other studies. So precious. Thank you for your amazing work.
The reason that the bible has been hard to read for me was
1. The geography and names of regions were hard to understand
2. The history of ancent kingdoms was hard to understand
3. Some parts of laws or visions were hard to understand (Maybe because of cultural difference)
If you can introduce these points so that we can understand the big pictures the it would be great.
