Cultural Ethics — If Culture Is the Judge, How Do We Judge Whether a Culture Is Right?
Greg answers questions about interpreting and using Paul’s list of qualifications for elders, the vetting process for church leaders and workers, what charismatics think about speaking in tongues, and the idea that morality is based on society’s definition of human flourishing.

4:56 Is everything on Paul’s list of qualifications for elders required, and how do you interpret the “husband of one wife” requirement?
20:25 What should the vetting process be for church leaders and workers?
32:00 Do charismatics say that speaking in tongues is speaking in a language that exists, or do they say it’s speaking words that only a spiritual gift can interpret?
43:33 How would you respond to someone who says that morality is subjective, based on the society’s definition of human flourishing, and that we only feel an obligation not to go against it because of the consequences imposed by the society?

By using an standard above all human cultures ie God nature, God standard.
47:20 "on what grounds can you object to the third reich?"
I'd like to make several points of critique here, so bear with me.
First, there was a little switcheroo in his response to katies question when he stopped talking about human flourishing, and instead replaced it with German flourishing. The idea of basing morality on human flourishing is to include the entire species all over the world in that criteria. Humans fighting humans over resources rather than cooperating and sharing them, is grounds for objection.
Second, even if we were just talking about german flourishing, how did ol adolf's plans turn out in that regard? All the casualties, the atrocities, the destruction, germans did not 'flourish' under the Reich that's for certain.
Thirdly, that which he objects to is explicitly commanded by yahweh in the old testament. The isrealites, gods chosen people, needed room to spread out too didnt they? And god just so happened to promise them a bunch of land that other people were living on, and the way the Israelites waged war upon those people was eerily similar to the germans during ww2 wasn't it? The Amelekites in 1 Samuel 15, the Midianites in Numbers 31, you could argue the Reich was kinder than what god commanded simply because their modern weaponry ended lives more quickly than bronze swords.
In conclusion, I don't think this man has a good foundation from which to preach about morals.
I hope you all see a beautiful flower today😊🌻 flowers are great for the flourishing of all conscious creatures.
Thank you pastor.
