I understand if this surprises you. Since, let’s be reasonable: We play an essential role in your delusion. We camp out for days to purchase tickets to your sold-out programs, then shout for you to reach down from the phase to touch our hands.
Faster than science would believe humanly possible, we discover the lyrics to your every tune and master the choreography to your every dance relocation. We devour your movies, television shows, and Netflix specials.
From that angle, I suppose it’s simple to believe that after all the adulation, all the fan mail and all the magazine covers, you may have actually come to think that we care what you think.
But you’re incorrect. No one cares what you believe.
No one!
Well, perhaps your mom and your therapist do. We don’t– not even a little. Allow me to spell this one out for you.
I go to a Lady Gaga show to hear her belt out tunes that advise me of my unpleasant college days. However enjoying her desperate protest against the outcomes of a totally free and fair election? Hardly an event I ‘d ever care to see once again in my lifetime.
Because– let’s face it– no one does a split anthem much better, I follow Beyoncé. However can someone please inform me why I should care if she’s for Hillary … or for Garfield the Cat?
And here’s to you, Marc Jacobs– you develop a killer set of shoes. But as a political philosopher you leave a lot to be desired. It’s difficult to understand why you believed it necessary to openly decline to dress our very first woman.
And to ball games of celebs who threaten to vacate the nation if we do not vote your way– wow! Just the length of time on a private jet must one travel to reach that level of narcissism?
This might rock your glittery world, however we don’t care whether you stay in America or transfer to another nation. Why would we care where you live?
On the one hand, we should discover all of this entertaining; however on the other, it’s really deeply offending: It’s offensive that you puzzle our appreciation for blind faith. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when Eminem raps I have to either choice him or the president of the United States.
