Does God Exist? 4 New Arguments
Science tells us that the universe came into being via The Big Bang. But how do you get from energy and matter to a self-aware human being? That takes three additional Big Bangs that science can’t explain. Noted theologian, Frank Pastore, unravels this compelling mystery and, in the process, poses the ultimate question that every thinking person must face.

You know, for 27 years, I was an atheist. I thought, anyone who believed in a God or Gods was, well, stupid — or uneducated — naive, gullible, or just into the gig for money, sex, and power. I mean, after all, everyone knows that religion is just a psychological crutch for intellectual weaklings, right? So, what changed my mind?
Well look, I tell the whole story in my book Shattered, but for our purposes here on Prager University, I was simply challenged by my Christian teammates on the Cincinnati Reds to read some religious books, critique them, and then share with the guys where the authors were wrong, and why atheism is the only real and true outlook for anyone not deceived by fantasy, fiction, or mythology. I mean, for someone who wants to base their beliefs and values upon evidence and argument, not emotion and tradition.
Now look, simply put, I set out to disprove theism, which I didn’t think would take very long, but I ran into some difficulties along the way. Difficulties like: Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas. I mean, in simple terms, I was confronted with the awareness that there are really four big bangs that have to be accounted for, not just one. I had never really even considered that before.
We’re all familiar with the first big bang, right? It’s usually the answer given to the question: “Why is there something rather than nothing?” It’s the idea that there was nothing, it popped, and — boom! — there’s something! I mean, that time, matter and space all came into existence in some great cosmological flash about 16 billion years ago. There was no gradual development, no transitional forms, just a binary flip — a metaphysical, now you don’t see it, and now you do. Fine, I want to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
However, astrophysicists tell us that this first big bang yielded only a handful of fundamental elements, and that it would take billions and billions of years for the nuclear furnaces of trillions of stars to yield the 118 elements in the periodic table.
But the first theoretical cosmological big bang, well, it only yields matter and energy. It doesn’t even begin to address the origin of life. So, how do you get life from non-life?
How did abiogenesis occur? I mean, the notion that something can come from nothing. Where’s the evidence?
Well, you’re going to need another something-from-nothing leap of faith, some kind of biological, second big bang. For all the mind-blowing advancements we’ve made in physics, biology, and chemistry in just the past 100 years, we’re still no closer to making it happen. We don’t have a clue. The closer we look, the wider the chasm.
I mean, sure, we’ve learned a lot about how to manipulate life forms, how to add and subtract DNA material, even map the human genome, but we have no idea how to literally create life from dead stuff. Now look, at this point we still only have physics, chemistry, and some basic biology — or matter, energy, and simple life, if you will.
But we still don’t have a way to account for the great diversity of life forms, I mean, the huge differences between bacteria, plants and animals. Nor do we have a way to account for the differences between man and animal. We still don’t have an anthropology at this point.

It's a brave try, but doesn't come close. He may have been a star with Cincinatti Reds, but in theology he's a non-starter.
Begin instead with Richard Dawkins' "The Blind Watchmaker."
The same tired old worship at the altar of ignorance. Science illuminates and displaces dull suffering progressively through the ages, as the ungrateful feebleminded yammers and seek the shadows.
this is hilariously bad
The Big Bang theory is in the theory that there was nothing and then there was something The Big Bang Theory was that something happened That created something. This thing could be a God or it could be an impersonal force of well just a force no proof it’s a god but definitely was something
The Big Bang didn’t create life though the Big Bang is simply how the container for life was created
If you’re asking how does life come from nonlife the building blocks for inorganic material such as stones under specific circumstances can be transformed into the building blocks for say human cells and it’s been observed in a lab in a jar I feel like you just didn’t do your study
Oh we don’t know how to create life okay I will do this in the simplest term anyone could think sperm plus Egg BOOM
The diversity in life forms is the scientific process wear jeans change in animals to best suit their environment this is why we all share DNA i’m not joking we all share some type of lineage with animals and the reason we do is because we all come from the same creature and this creature there are multiple of them and over time they spread out into different places and the ones that needed to swim swam the ones that needed to walk walk the ones that needed to fly fly the ones that needed to dig digged
Oh that’s very simple evolution began when animals are put into an environment where they need to evolve it’s a natural process it’s like asking how the hell did the wind become a thing oh how the hell did gravity become a thing
Evolution is how humans developed such complex brains and you don’t need a brain to have a solution multiple creatures can survive without brains or don’t have brains to begin with animals have free will also Humans are animals very smart animals
You just talked about philosophy for like the last part Also beauty is subjective
We decided what was right was what ever was true or whatever was morally good and we decided what was mostly good based on what affected people actually no that’s untrue we did it based on the standards of a common group it should be on what affects people though
Lol this propaganda needs a serious deconstruction..

Theists are really skeptical when it comes to objective science that relies on countless experiments and empiricism to find the truth, but they're quick to believe Jesus became a zombie after three days and Moses split water in half. Ironic.
None of these were arguments for God. Stupid video.
I love how he says that religious people are stupid…. I agree… 😀😀😀 they hide in their "intellectual comfort zones".. and the only way to educate them is to DRAG them out of their comfort zones….. if you even know what I mean…… 😀 that's why I agree when he says that religious are stupid….. 😀 but…. let's mention other religions too…. Capitalism, Democracy, Patriotism and other Dogma based unscientific believes… ✌✌✌
There's not even a damn source for this braindead "I can't explain it therefore this specific middle eastern god" argument. This guy is so sure that there are vast differences between the concepts of "Man and animal" such as self-reflecting, artistic ability and beauty appreciation. Why are male birds colorful? Because the females mate with ones they believe are beautiful. They even dance for darn sake. The last two "Big bangs" are dumb. You are baffled by conscious coming from noting, while you believe in a god who was always conscious. AND you are assuming all atheists believe in things just suddenly coming from nothing. I am an atheist and I believe the universe has always existed in some form and will always exist in some form. I even believe in supernatural power, just not a god. Edit: Its hilarious that they say their being censored while their videos get millions of views, so pathetic.
How comes Prager-imrefusingtoputUbecauseyouarenotanuniversitybutabunchofposers is always so illiterate about scientific stuff. Do they do that on purpose? Yes. The answer is yes. Because they have to appeal to illiterate fundies.
i feel real bad for anyone who is convinced by this, because it means that they weren't given the critical thinking skills to realize this makes no swnse.
To offer an alternative explanation that addresses these issues, we can turn to current scientific and philosophical understandings:
1. Cosmological Origins: Instead of invoking a singular event like a “big bang” to explain the universe’s existence, current cosmological theories suggest a more nuanced picture. For example, the inflationary model of the universe posits a rapid expansion of space in the early universe. This model is supported by observational evidence such as the cosmic microwave background radiation. Furthermore, quantum mechanics introduces the concept of quantum fluctuations, which could provide a naturalistic explanation for the origin of the universe without requiring a supernatural intervention.
2. Abiogenesis and the Origin of Life: The transition from non-life to life, known as abiogenesis, remains a significant scientific question. However, research in this area suggests a gradual process, not a sudden “big bang.” Theories such as the RNA world hypothesis propose that self-replicating RNA molecules could have been precursors to life, gradually evolving into more complex forms. Experiments like the Miller-Urey experiment have shown that organic compounds can arise from inorganic materials under conditions similar to those of early Earth.
3. Biological Diversity and Evolution: The diversity of life forms can be accounted for by the theory of evolution through natural selection, as proposed by Charles Darwin. This theory has been robustly supported by a wide array of evidence, including fossil records, genetic analysis, and observational studies of natural selection in action. The process of evolution explains the emergence of complex life forms from simpler ancestors over billions of years.
4. Consciousness and the Human Mind: The emergence of consciousness and the human mind is an area of ongoing research in neuroscience and psychology. One prevailing theory suggests that consciousness arises from complex neural networks and brain processes. This does not require a sudden “big bang” but rather a gradual development of cognitive abilities over evolutionary time scales. Studies in evolutionary psychology and neurobiology provide insights into how human cognitive capacities, including self-reflection and introspection, have developed.
5. Moral and Aesthetic Sensibilities: The development of moral and aesthetic sensibilities in humans can be understood through both biological and cultural evolution. Social and cooperative behaviors are seen in many animal species and likely have evolutionary origins related to survival and reproductive advantages. Cultural evolution, including the development of language and complex societies, has further refined and expanded our moral and aesthetic sensibilities.
the alternative explanation involves a combination of well-supported scientific theories and ongoing research, providing a naturalistic account of the universe’s origins, the emergence of life, the development of biodiversity, the rise of consciousness, and the evolution of moral and aesthetic sensibilities. This approach relies on empirical evidence and the gradual unfolding of processes over time, rather than invoking multiple sudden “big bangs” or a supernatural creator.
You know, "why" is not an argument, "we don't know this and that" is not an argument, "how did evolution begin" is ridiculous because life just happens to evolve, so the life began and the evolution began with it, and I don't know about any evidence that animals don't actually have some free will or capability of art. Also, that's obvious how it came to be: the Humans just evolved socially, and in the society there are actual applications to free will and imagination, and they are very limited in the wild. So you just didn't use any kind of reason and told "I don't understand atheism, hence it's not true".
PragerU are a bunch of frauds. Stephen Meyer and Dennis Prager have both been caught red handed manipulating evidence, making up false studies that don't exist, and lying about what others have said. Dishonesty – one of the foundational pillars of religiosity.
There are very many flaws with this interpretation as not only does it gloss over the leaps of faith in religions but also doesnt condider that they may be in the wrong religion. In fact, the "something from nothing" theory from the big bang and life is more of an absence of faith rather than anything as frankly no one has the proof
you are right! god does exists!
his name is Zeus and he comes down from mount Olympus to populate the earth.
does that sound stupid ? good, so does the christian god:
god decided to reincarnate as a human in order to sacrifice himself to himself because the laws he created made it impossible to forgive all sins in any other way. also he's a ghost for some reason ?
I was an atheist for about 40 years. Then I read Prager's "Rational Bible- Exodus" and some Aquinas at the same time and I realized that only an unintelligent and unreasonable person could believe there isn't a God. I've read arguments objectively from the theist and atheist sides and the theist's win hands down. I've come up with my own view:
God = the numeral zero
It's nothing, but without it we have no complete mathematical structure. It's a dichotomy. And thus so is God.
Now, that doesn't mean God is a man like figure in the sky with a puffy beard, but clearly there is an intelligence superseding ours that organized the universe down to the smallest possible component.
What are you confused individual you are. Don’t even want to try to break down all of the incorrect information and logical fallacies. Not worth my time.
Is the universe intelligent design or is it all by chance?
Sort of neither, sort of both!
There was only precisely nothing
Nothing means to be absent of something. However, at the time of the big bang, the only thing nothing can possibly be absent from is precisely nothing, considering there isn’t anything else. This means at the time of the big bang, nothing must be equivalent to everything. To resolve the paradox information must exist, however, the only event that can happen is nothing and information cannot be created nor destroyed.
The paradoxes can easily be resolved
It may seem impossible for all information to exist without being created, when all there is, is precisely no information, and precisely nothing that can happen; however, it’s impossible for that not to be the case. It would require precisely nothing to combine opposite types of nothing to create the very real illusion of information existing. When numbers don’t refer to anything and there is no conscious awareness, mathematics is precisely nothing. A conscious awareness of nothing, is also precisely nothing because it’s only possible to be consciously aware of something. Mathematical information just needs to be combined with it’s opposite for there to be a conscious awareness of information. Considering both opposites don’t exist, the result is all information exists, despite not being created. At the time of the big bang, no information is equivalent to all information simply because it’s paradoxical not to be. The big bang is only nothing (absent of precisely nothing) happening.
At the quantum level
The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle shows that everything in existence, only exists as mathematical probabilities. A particle cannot exist at a definite point in both time and space. The probabilities are mathematical information. However, the randomness within the probabilities, is the complete opposite. True randomness is without a mathematical pattern, therefore can only be non-mathematical information. The universe has been proven to be non-locally real. However, consciousness is non-real too. Mathematical information cannot exist outside of spacetime but there isn’t enough mathematical information to define particles exact position in both time and space. In every single zero time moment, the missing information does not exist outside of spacetime. In a finite amount of time, the missing information has infinitely not existed outside of spacetime. If we call the information x, then we have 0x * ∞ for every finite amount of time. Mathematically, multiplying by zero always results in zero, unless zero is multiplied by infinity. Multiplying zero by infinity cannot be done mathematically due to the inevitable ambiguities that would occur. It would take infinite iterations of incrementing by zero to reach something finite. However, outside of spacetime, infinite iterations of zero could occur instantaneously. An awareness of what the zero was, is essential to resolve the ambiguities, but the result cannot be anything mathematical considering mathematical information cannot exist outside of spacetime. Therefore, the only possible answer to 0x * ∞ is and awareness of x. The awareness of x, cannot do anything mathematical so it doesn’t. It simply causes mathematical randomness.
The nature of all matter and energy
Our laws of physics define the nature of everything physical at the macro scale but the laws break down at the quantum level. Therefore, the laws are clearly mathematical laws. The First Law states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Breaking the First Law, would of course be creating or destroying information, which is simply impossible. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states the entropy always stays the same or increases. Entropy increasing is simply complexities or chaos increasing. This happens because there is forever random changes of the mathematical information, which comes from the uncertainty at the quantum level. However, entropy is clearly a type of information. It keeps increasing, despite the impossibility of information being created.
The impossibility of creating information can be avoided by our laws of physics having an inverse.
The nature of consciousness
The Second Law of Thermodynamics only refers to physical entropy. This means, if you are consciously aware of mess, you can reduce the mess by reducing your awareness of the mess, without violating the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Doing so, would in fact be following the exact opposite to the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Consciousness is simply compelled to reduce non-physical entropy. This is literally the concept “purpose”. This means overall, the total entropy must remain constant. However, for individuals, it clearly doesn’t. This is because we only have a small piece of this non-mathematical information, and our piece constantly changes. Whenever you are in non-rem sleep, your consciousness doesn’t even exist, but it doesn’t die, it continues as soon as you have information to be consciously aware of. Considering it does not consist of matter and energy, only the opposite, then it is following the exact inverse to the First Law of Thermodynamics.
Consciousness is always compelled to reduce non-physical entropy and doing so is pleasure. However, when the non-physical entropy increases, we suffer. This would suggest we are unable to think because thinking requires increasing complexities within conscious awareness, however, that is not the case because we have emotions to compel us to think. Thought does take effort though and that is because we have to generate the emotions to compel us to think. We have free will because we can choose how to reduce non-physical entropy. We can be lazy and avoid being aware of problems or we can instead solve the problems. Either way, we are being compelled to reduced non-physical entropy within conscious awareness. Conscious awareness is entirely selfless because material can never be, but we can still be selfish considering we can only consciously act on the information we are aware of, and we choose the information we are aware of. You can even be aware that you are doing something for the greater good by simply lying to yourself. Consciousness can simply become weaker or stronger, which again, is the inverse to the First Law.
Our brains’ consciousness
This theory seems to fit perfectly with a mechanism our brains’ have. Storing information in electromagnetic fields would be all it takes to result in a conscious awareness of the information. However, getting inputs from that awareness, would require using the randomness from the resulting uncertainty at the quantum level as inputs. Our brain does that! We have many microscopic electromagnetic fields connected to neurons which are sensitive to tiny fluctuations of energy. The tiny fluctuations of energy can sometimes cause those neurons to fire. Our conscious awareness simply causes these fluctuations. Our many electromagnetic fields that we have would need to be joined together via quantum entanglement so they can produce a single consciousness. When we are asleep, our brains’ do not rest, they work much harder. It is just our consciousness that rests. That’s because quantum entanglement breaks down over time. meaning we have less neurons we can use as conscious inputs or the ones we have become misaligned. Sleep corrects this but when we dream, we dream because our conscious inputs need to be switched on so they can be tested.
Universe is still equivalent to nothing
Every single force has a completely opposite force. This means the total energy in the entire universe is precisely zero. Conscious awareness is an effect caused by information infinitely not existing outside of spacetime. Inside space time, there is nothing. Outside of spacetime, there is nothing. Combined, there is the very real illusion of existence.
Evolution & Conclusion
Completely random changes to mathematical information is what causes evolution. This suggests evolution simply happens by chance, however, the random changes require there to be uncertainty at the quantum level. There is no mathematical pattern but it clearly has purpose. It is literally the concept purpose, which is precisely the same as conscious awareness. Same concept anyway (inverse to our laws of physics). This means the consciousness of life can cause subtle changes to how life evolves. Survival of the fittest results in a peaceful balance eventually which is the purpose of evolution, however, considering it already has purpose, a peaceful balance is preferred over survival. Sometimes life evolves self destructively in order to achieve a peaceful balance. That is why every empire in history has collapsed due to their own greed. It is why lions sometimes eat their own young. If they bred like rats, it would destroy the whole ecosystem.
There are infinite potential forces at the quantum vacuum, and there is an infinite potential for conscious awareness too. Due to the nature of conscious awareness and it having infinite potential, it makes sense to call it God, but it cannot ever redefine the fundamentals of mathematics or break our laws of physics. You could argue there is nothing there, and you’d be right, but considering nothing is equivalent to everything when there isn’t anything else, you’d also be wrong. A complete contradiction it seems but there is precisely nothing to contradict. All consciousness is together as one but we all share a piece of that consciousness.
OK, I've been an Atheist for 40 years, and last time I checked the burden of proof falls on the claimant, so I don't have to disprove the existence of what I don't believe in. Next, science has already done experiments with very basic proteins etc. and grown simple life forms, from there Billions of years of development account for the various kinds of life forms. Lastly, dismissing the unknown or unexplained as being unknowable or unexplainable and claiming it "must be god" is inherently unscientific. Feel free to believe in any god you so choose, I have no problem with that, but this was far from convincing or even compelling.
Everyone is going to find out…the moment they die
The very latest discoveries of Microbiology and Molecular Biology are all showing us; LIFE DID NOT CREATE ITSELF !!!!!
It is all vastly more complex then we've ever imagined!
Who actually thinks this is a good argument??
This guy is an expert troll. We do not know how all of this happened = GOD did it.
GOD OF THE GAPS
The infinity concept is only theoretical and is mathematical in nature only.
The sum-total of matter and energy in the universe could not possibly have existed eternally, for some infinite length of time. The time concept can be rationalized only in the presence of matter and energy. Time is the duration of an event, and the event of interest is the continuing expansion of the universe. There had to have been a finite beginning to the very existence of the sum-total of matter and energy, prior to which it did not exist. Furthermore, it could not have materialized, either gradually or abruptly, out of total void. There thus had to have been a first cause of some sort.
The second law of thermodynamics would hardy allow the coalescence of matter into stable planetary systems such as exist, especially like that of the earth and moon, both of which possess certain particular features that favor a life-supporting environment that can only be explained as a consequence of willful purpose and intention.
The formation of earth’s habitation was not an accidental consequence of mere resident forces, but resulted from the supervisory guidance of a vastly superior intellect controlling force.
Justice demands that is a God.
If God exists, would it be necessary to prove his existence?
Dude said the universe began 16 billion years ago 😂 It’s actually 13.8 billion years old
This video in a nutshell:
“So you’re an atheist? Go ahead and explain all laws of physics, quantum mechanics, chemistry, how everything works in the universe and how life started.”
Natural selection answered hi I'm am natural and selection as i selected you but you won't know till you are capable of escaping time made by you..
When they talk about politics or economics, Prager U has some very interesting and valid points. But when they start pushing god on you, that’s when I am terribly disappointed. They are no better than those missionaries who bring medical care or food to starving tribes and then push the Bible on them. Can’t they be human without that god crutch?
I love how every one of these arguments are the same exact god of the gaps fallacy.
We don't understand stand it, no other possible explanation other than god. 🤦
