It’s now okay for a man to hit a woman.

That, in effect, is what a mixed martial arts league decided when it allowed Fallon Fox, a biological male, to fight as a woman simply because he identifies as one.

And the consequence of this decision?

Fox sent female fighter Tamikka Brents to the hospital with a broken skull and a concussion. Brents needed seven surgical staples to bind her wounds. The battered woman, a trained fighter herself, said of her match with Fox, “I’ve never felt so overpowered in my life.”

Twenty years ago, if a man hit a woman so hard that he sent her to the hospital, he’d be in prison. Now he can get paid for it.

Today we are told that male and female are one and the same.

This denial of male-female differences has led to the astonishing belief that men and women are not born male or female; they are whatever gender they say they are. Facebook went so far as to offer its users over 50 genders to choose from. Know what a “demi-boy” is? Me, neither.

The idea that gender-identification is now a personal choice might sound enlightened to some, but it’s actually a very anti-scientific view of one of the essential facts of life: men and women are inherently different. Their brains are different, their hormones are different, their chromosomes are different, and, of course, their bodies are different.

No amount of peer-reviewed papers from gender studies departments can change this. But that won’t stop the progressive elites who run our universities, news media, many of our biggest companies, and even our high schools and elementary schools from trying.

For their efforts, women will pay an especially high price.

That’s because the men-and-women-are-the-same argument invariably leads women to be judged against a male standard. Or, to put it another way, to be more of a woman, a woman has to be more like a man.

She has to want to have casual sex like a man; to serve in combat like a man; to pursue a career with single-minded intensity like a man. Of course, there are exceptions, but the overwhelming majority of women aren’t seeking casual sex; don’t have the physical strength of men; and don’t share the same work-life priorities as men.

Ironically, this quest for sameness is occurring at a time when science is telling us, more emphatically than ever, that we are different. So, what your grandmother took for granted – men and women are different – science now confirms.

But there is no room for science in, say, stores like Target or Toys R Us, where toys are no longer divided into the boy section and the girl section. Or in a North Carolina school district, where students can no longer be called “boys and girls” but only “students.” Or in college dorms, where co-ed bathrooms and even co-ed bedrooms are increasingly common.

For the tiny percentage of people who experience gender dysphoria, we should have nothing but compassion. We should do everything we can to help them and protect their dignity, but we don’t need to overturn biologically defined sex differences to do so.

  6. I partially agree since in fighting its biological sex that matters, not gender identity. However you also need to be more understanding of the needs of transgender people, transgender women should not be housed with men in prisons and probation hostels, especially post HRT.

  10. I wonder how much confusion could be eschewed if they prefaced this with an explanation of gender vs sex. I hate that we’re such a prudish culture that we use gender to mean sex because we’re scared of saying a word that could also mean intercourse.

  15. You acknowledge there is a minority that doesnt fit within these boundaries, and yet offer no solutions in your idealized world to help them with this. If the majority takes a few very easy steps, the minority can live much happier lives.

  16. All of this insanity on multiple genders can make any person with sufficient morals vomit onto a wall. This should bring enough sense: in order to make a new life, a genuine mother and father has sexual intercourse.

  17. it’s amazing how narrow minded all these charades are. yes of course a male and female aren’t the same thing, nobody’s arguing that there is zero difference between sexes. however, the entire premise of this extremely transphobic narrative is based on the fact that gender and sex is the same thing, which they are not. and that’s not my personal opinion, that’s a simple fact. a gender spectrum has been recognized by many of our ancestors, in various parts of the world for thousands of years. intersex people also exist, and pretending they don’t doesn’t make them go away. people born with chromosomes and bodily organs that do not match the norm. prageru hates happiness and tries to squander it with bigotry and hatred

  18. while there's something to be said about biological differences in fighting sports (wrestling, boxing), in general the amount of ANNOYANCE physically and socially transitioning causes is enough to deter the vast majority of people looking to cause harm. i for one still haven't physically transitioned (female to male) because it's a pain in the ass, even though i'm medically diagnosed with gender dysphoria. also in general, who Cares? it's none of your business.

  21. I am a big fan of Dennis Prager……..met him twice, introduced him once………but I would like to comment on two points you raised in this piece. It is OK for a man to hit a woman? Is it OK for a woman to hit a man? The answer to BOTH of these questions (and both should be asked) is "it all depends." If someone is being assaulted or abused, I think it's OK to hit the aggressive person – male or female. Actually, it is generally not OK for either gender to hit either gender (and it does happen both ways). Also, regarding your comment on men having casual sex – I agree with your point on morality grounds, but assuming the promiscuous person is male, he is therefore having casual sex with a female – meaning she is into casual sex as much as him. So, I think things are equal on that topic. By the way, I think otherwise your perspective is spot on – thank you for your service to Prager U.

  25. Sociologists, psychiatrists, sexologists, psychologists, have all done research and done so much to give facts and actual viable arguments, dont say its "anti-scientific" unless youre refering to your biggoted psuedo-science.

  27. Ive lived 40 years on this planet, as a baby i had a surgery performed i could never consent to and my mother had no say. I was assigned male. When i hit puberty there was problems, it was found i had functional female internals. Growing up of course i felt different, some says i wanted to fit in with the girls, other days i only wanted to fit in with the boys. In my 30s it was found i have chimerism. The pride movement sickens me. For people like me there is nothing to celebrate when every aspect of life is miserable. Not because of other people or just hateful people but because of all the associated medical conditions. I am intersex, with chimerism, high functioning autism, and a form of lupus that attacks my nervous system. I went to college twice, i tried to make something of my life till my body quit and i ended up with 3 spinal surgeries, knee reconstruction, shoulder reconstruction, extra lobe in my right lung which actually makes it more difficult to breathe. I dont get all dressed up like a cheap street walker or dance around in parades exposing myself to children. There is a mental health crisis and forever chemicals and feminism are the leading causes.

  32. to be honest, Fox probably was not fighting correctly either, considering how badly he hurt her. Given it was a martial arts fight where no one is SUPPOSED to get hurt, if he had hit a man that hard, the man would have been injured too. Probably not as much but, women are NOT made of glass. they might be physically more fragile on average, but the fact was the hit would have been a violation of the rules, even if it had hit a man. Making the crime even worse.

  38. I'm a male for real as I can proof, I rather do and be around females more then males not because males are scarier but due to the fact that I never like those hobbies and can do them to which it doesn't inspire me!
    So I will cross dress for the love it means to me if never be with a woman that I don't want to be a man who gets a woman pregnant to which it makes me feel bad or wrong and disgusted.
    Females and things sure ain't meant for me because I'm a male but emotionally/physically and truths, I love them! 💝
