Many American millennials appear to be drawn to socialism. They use Che Guevara t-shirts to signal their socialist virtue.
I understand a lot about socialism. I live in Rio de Janeiro, and I work throughout Brazil as a journalist for a popular magazine.
In the early 2000s, Brazil’s economy was growing rapidly. Foreign investors put into the country, eager to catch a part of our expanding economy.
Today, our economy is in joblessness, shambles and financial obligation are enormous, and effective politicians are being investigated for involvement in the largest scandals of fraud and corruption in the nation’s history.
What occurred?
In 2002, a socialist political leader named Lula da Silva ran for the presidency. He was a socialist, however painted himself as a modern, cool sort of socialist. He would be the politician who would unify and heal national divisions everybody. He even had a label: “Lulinha paz e amor,” which indicates “Little Lula peace and love” in Portuguese.
The media, scholastic elite and celebs assured Brazilians that by moving the money from the abundant to the bad, the bad might lastly be richer. The only ones who really got abundant were Lula and his political and corporate good friends.
