Is It Reasonable to Still Believe in God? An Interview with Craig Blomberg
Can Christianity answer tough questions about hell, unanswered prayers, slavery, suffering, and contradictions in the Bible? In this video, I interview Craig Blomberg, one of the leading New Testament scholars in the world, about his new book: CAN WE STILL BELIEVE IN GOD?

Blomberg is awesome. His discussion here on soteriology is really good. Same with Philemon and Onesimus.
Wow I had Paul littles book. We will see him in heaven one day ❤😊
The two swords bit was a fulfillment of the prophecy "being counted amongst the transgressors" which started there and was fulfilled at the cross with the thieves. He's telling them to get a sword to fulfill the prophecy, not used it.
"Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image."
Why is it that when a Christian argues for pacifism this verse is never brought up?
Finally! I've been trying to work through the miracles, teachings, healing, etc…of Jesus. I've been convinced that these signs had more to do with him proclaiming himself as God- the Savior the Jews were waiting for.(Ie: Calming the storm~the old testament scripture says only God can control the weather, etc…). Does anyone have books on this topic? Or what area of study/hermeneutic would this be? Christology, maybe?
This is my first interview with Dr. Blomberg I saw yet… He's a genius, God bless him 🙂
🙏❤🙏❤🙏
it is reasonable to believe in a god yes..however it is not reasonable to believe in the god of the bible..hes a horrid monster who loooves slavery hater children kills babies and treats woman as property…and the dead jewish carpenter just makes it worse…2000 days of any day now…i sleep well knowing this life is the only one we have and the idea of a 70 year life as just a test for a 4567,234,765,234,863,235,345 year after life is as stupid as the bible itself..luckily its not at all true
About Jesus' remark with regards to Judas, how it would have been better that he'd never been born.. Blomberg seems to be quoting this sentence as evidence for the existence of hell (and that Judas is in hell). It makes me think of what Frank Turek said about this matter in one of his debates: that this type of language can be considered to be hyperbole speak from Jesus (the same as we can say 'team A slaughtered team B in the end phase', which doesn't have to do with any killing whatsoever).
Also, Blomberg says that judgement is according to works and he seems to be implying that Hitler (if he didn't repent and therefore is in hell) gets beaten more severely than some other person who is in hell. But how I have understood the Scriptures that this judgement/rewards will take place in heaven, where we will be saved through fire. That all the works we could/should have done but didn't do, will be burned off of us, so that we will still be with Jesus, only with less rewards (because we did little works).
Can anyone shed more light on these matters? Sean McDowell maybe?
Dr. Blomberg is very insightful. Thank you.
the first-fruit had to be a handfull for the wave offering and so Christ is waved with a handfull
Will you go to Heaven?
Here’s a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God’s name in vain?
Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called Hell. But God is not willing that any should perish.
Sinners broke God’s Law and Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Then Jesus rose from the grave, and defeating death. Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as free gift. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. (living waters/ray comfort)
God bless
The apocryphal gospels sound like fanfiction.
Thanks a lot.
Such a useful discussion!
