I am an American Muslim. And I, along with my mainstream Muslim brethren, in America and abroad, must come to terms with an ever more apparent truth: that we are the only ones who can lead a winning fight against the radicalism crippling our faith.

If there was ever any doubt of this, just look at the nature of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California in December of 2015. What’s most troubling about the San Bernardino massacre is that Syed Farook, the husband half of the terrorist couple, seems to have been, by almost all accounts, an ordinary American. His was not a crime born of poverty or lack of opportunity, or an inability to integrate into American society. Just the opposite.

He was raised in a middle class environment by first generation Pakistani immigrant parents. He was educated and earned a good living. I too, like many American Muslims, come from a background that is very similar, as the son of Pakistani immigrants, which makes the attack all the more concerning. It seems unthinkable that someone in such a position could be susceptible to radicalization. Yet we have seen it happen time and again among younger Muslims in the Middle East, Europe and now America.

Attacks like San Bernardino underscore the importance of countering extremist propaganda. While sophisticated attacks by terrorist groups can be effectively prevented by law enforcement and national-security measures, the truth is there isn’t much that can be done by any government—not even stricter gun-control laws—to eliminate the possibility of a radicalized lone wolf wreaking havoc. Only defeating the ideology that inspires these attacks can do that.

A propaganda war must be waged against this radicalism and American Muslims have to be on the front lines for it to be credible. Merely condemning Islamist terror is not enough. We must actively engage in counter-extremism messaging.

We must build an intellectual and theological case against radical Islam. Our religious leaders have to educate and warn our youth about the dangers of searching for spiritual guidance on the Internet. They must make it perfectly clear that anyone who engages in any act of terrorism is not doing God’s work, they’re doing the work of the devil.

  1. Fact: Islam is not just a religion, but Islam means the conquest of religion, culture, law and territory. Either by peaceful means or by force of arms. There is no religion in this world that has an army other than Islam. The Hindu kingdom in Indonesia disappeared, its glory can be seen from the remains of the Prambanan and Borobudur temples. Maldwa is completely Muslim, Lebanon is increasingly being controlled by Hizbullah, Constantinople is turning into Islamic Istanbul and many other countries are being completely controlled, so that the original cultural identity is completely lost.   3. I don't believe you. Unfortunately, though there are many moderate Muslims, moderate Muslims are not following the Qur'an.   5. My personal experience: I am not a Muslim and I don't wear hijab or burqa. Sometimes when the weather is hot I put on sunscreen clothes to protect my skin from sunlight. And that's the problem: I have often been insulted and physically attacked by Islamophobes who mistaken my sunscreen clothes with actual hijabs, just because both clothes cover the entire body. I tried to explain to them I wasn't wearing a hijab but they never listened.

That day you will remember that I told you that , If  you embrace Islam, you will find light in your heart and you will enter heaven in sky after death.—Islam is the religion of God and makes obedience to God alone and the Messenger Muhammad is the seal of the messengers, and to be a Muslim you must act according to what came in the Qur’an and Islam makes you pure from sins that enter the fire, and obedience and worship make you righteous in this world and the hereafter and Islam says that the dead will rise from the grave on the Day of Resurrection to be held accountable or They were good or evil. If they are bad, they will enter Hellfire, and if they are good, they will enter Paradise. I advise you to read the Qur’an. You will find copies in English, you will find the light, you will find the truth……،

I just want to say that finally a pragerU video with sense, it says counter extremism not hate the religion which should be told for every other people in every other religion/political belief because most terriorist attacks today are being commited by political views so yeah we must counter extremism in all of its kinds especially far right extremism becuase it gave Us Imperial Japan and the Nazis.

  37. Islam has existed since more than 1400 years ago. If Islam is a terrorist, Islam should have long dominated the number 1 in the world and maybe many countries will unite to fight Islam long ago, the first day of world war against Islam not against other countries. Look at Indonesia, the largest Muslim population in the world. Is Indonesia a terrorist country? So why until today, even neighboring countries have cooperated with Indonesia?
