The Benefits of Belief|5 Minute Video
Even if you don’t believe in God, do you wish you did? Peter Kreeft, philosophy professor at Boston College, discusses why even atheists should desire there to be a God, and how acting as if there is one may really lead to you thinking it.

Script:
In this Prager University course, I wish to focus not on the evidence for God’s presence, however on the benefits of belief.
If God exists, then the world didn’t just progress by chance, however by purposeful style. There’s an Artist behind this incredible work of art– this huge and beautiful world.
If God exists, we’re living in an excellent story, an impressive like “The Lord of the Rings,” with heroic tasks and real heroes. Eventually, all the twists and turns of this impressive narrative will be paid off, whatever will make good sense. It will even have a happy ending, not necessarily, or even most likely, in our own life time– even Moses didn’t enter the Promised Land– however over the grand course of time in an afterlife, which exists as definitely as God exists.
If God exists, the existence of evil, hard as it is to accept, makes sense. God permits it for a reason– namely, to protect our free choice. And God will fix up all injustices in the end. If there is no God, life is one big crapshoot.
If God does exist, morality is a genuine, objective feature of the world. Morality is simply the rules we make up for this little video game of life we play if there is no God.
Love is the nature of an everlasting reality if God exists. If there is no God, love is simply a short lived sensation, no more than a lot of chemical and neurological interactions.
If God exists, you are of boundless value. If there is no God, each of us is as irrelevant as a rock on an unidentified world.
If God exists, death is conquered since if there is a God there is a reality outside of space and time. If there is no God, there is nothing immortal, and all the good ideas in life are ruined forever. You, and everybody you enjoy, and whatever you believe matters are all consigned to oblivion. Life is pointless if there is no God. Everything we’ve done and lived for will eventually fail.
Can I prove with an outright certainty that God exists? I can make the case that frustrating proof suggests that he does. But no I can’t prove that He exists with outright certainty. That’s most likely part of His plan. God deliberately doesn’t provide us absolute proof so that we’re totally free to pick or not to select to think in Him.
Which way do you desire to go?
Doesn’t your heart at least hope that there is a good God, a transcendent Validator of love and all the greatest human values? Why would anybody not want that life has some supreme purpose; that great and wicked are real; that there is ultimate justice; that our love for others suggests something?
, if you pick to live as if there is a God– even if you are not sure there is a God– you lose nothing and you acquire whatever.
