Script:
I am the fallen soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine.
Remember me.
I am the one that held the line. Sometimes I volunteered. Sometimes I went because I was told to go.
But when the nation called—I answered.
In order to serve, I left behind the family, friends, and freedom that so many take for granted.
Over time, I used different weapons: a sword, a musket, a bayonet, a rifle, a machine gun.
Often, I marched into battle on foot. Other times, I rode to battle on horseback or in wagons; sometimes on trains; later in tanks or Jeeps or Humvees.
In early wars, my ships were made of wood and powered by the wind. Later they were made of steel and powered by diesel fuel or the atom. I even took to the air and mastered the sky in planes, helicopters, and jets. The machines of war evolved and changed with the times.
But remember that it was always me—the warrior—that had to fight our nation’s enemies.
I fought at Lexington and Concord as our nation was born.
I crossed the Delaware on Christmas Day in 1776.
In the Civil War, I fought with my brothers—and against my brothers—at Gettysburg and Shiloh and Bull Run. I learned that we must never again divide.
In World War l, I marched on the Marne and held the line at Belleau Wood. “The war to end all wars,” they called it. I just called it “hell.”
In World War ll, I fought everywhere: the beaches of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, the hell of Guadalcanal. I stood against tyranny and kept darkness from consuming the world.
In Korea, I landed at Inchon and broke out of the Chosin Reservoir. They called it “the forgotten war”—but I never forgot.
In Vietnam, I fought in the Mekong Delta, at Khe Sanh and Hamburger Hill. Some say my country wavered. But I did not waver. Ever.
In the recent past, I have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Baghdad, Fallujah, and Ramadi. In Kunar, Helmand, and Kandahar.
As technology advanced, I used night vision goggles and global positioning systems and drones and lasers and thermal optics.
But it was still me, a human being, that did the work. It was me that patrolled up the mountains or across the desert or through the streets. It was me that suffered in merciless heat and bitter cold. It was me that went out, night after night, to confront our nation’s enemies and confront evil face-to-face.
It was me.
Remember me. I was a warrior.
But also remember that I was not only a warrior. Remember also: that I was a son, a brother, a father. I was a daughter, a sister, a mother. I was a person, like you, a real person with hopes and dreams for the future.
I wanted to have children. I wanted to see my son score a touchdown or shoot the winning basket. I wanted to walk my daughter down the aisle. I wanted to kiss my wife again.
When I told her I would be with her until the end, I meant it. When I told my children I would always be there for them, I meant it.
But I gave all that away.
All of it.
On that distant battlefield, amongst the fear and the fire and the bullets. Or in the sky above enemy territory filled with flak. Or on the unforgiving sea, where we fought against the enemy and against the depths of the abyss. There, in those awful places, I held the line.
I did not waver and I did not hesitate. I, the soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine. I stood my ground and sacrificed my life—my future, my hopes, my dreams. I sacrificed everything—for you.
This Memorial Day, remember me—the fallen warrior. And remember me not for my sake, but for yours. Remember what I sacrificed so you can truly appreciate the incredible treasures you have: Life. Liberty. The pursuit of happiness.

To bad hes laying his life down for his country to protect undemocratic ways and public deceit.
GREAT VIDEO — EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS. THANKS, JOCKO!
when the cringe is too strong
My dad and two of his brothers were in Korea. To me what hurts the most are the MIA's that never came home because they were never found. Over 8,000 in Korea and over 88,000 in World War 2…
Men dying for an evil empire
This was too good. Put me to tears…. So many things we take for granted…. Everybody needs to see this.
wow we will not forget with love hero's
The modern American soldier exists to hoist the rainbow flag across the world. Sadly, we have lost our way.
I'm from Brazil and this was very emotional.
My son , my husband my and my 5 grandchildren were and two of my grandsons are still serving , God please Take care of them! Amen!!
This one just never seems to get old. <3
May the Lord Jesus bless the family's of our fallen soldiers
So amazing.
Still humbling to watch this. Semper Fidelis Brothers and Sisters.
Watched it 4 times, and cried every time
Tom MacDonald‘s words will forever hit different.
“We only dedicate one day to remember our fallen soldiers
The men and women who died young
But if you come out the closet as Caitlyn Jenner
You're a hero and you get a whole Pride month”

Now make a video about the police officers who died on their job, so we can have safe streets.
Who else is in tears after watching what they will never show us in government operated schools.
For the first time I realized many paid the tax higher than any possible amount paid to the IRS.
The outcome of the war is not determined by how hard the soldiers fought, even those who sacrificed their lives. It’s determined by the politicians. It’s never the fault of people who literally gave their everything.
Thank you for reminding me not only not to take my freedom for granted, but should fearlessly protect it before it turns into war.
Now make a video about the police officers who died on their job, so we can have safe streets.
The enemies must be evil? The invasion in Iraq 2003, was for oil price that linked with USD, we have to think? Are all wars righteous or did we start wars for USA benefits and expansion which is for money? And on the other side, our enemy is a victim? And our US soldiers also a victim because they were used to do the dirty jobs for the one behind these without knowing, and Americans got the benefits indirectly. Don’t talk about freedom and liberty because the victims on the other side lost as much as US, or even more. They lost their lives and freedom to live. Don’t tell me there is no war crime in Middle East. Whoever investigated US government sanctions them. Are we that righteous? I still thanks to the men who die for our country but not the one who started wars to gain benefits, soldiers were just following the orders. We should find out who cause the deaths in the wars and also stop the war in the future, the current war in Europe area, can be avoided, we are supporting it with weapons and lie about someone can join NATO, but actually someone will never has a chance to join, but now USA can gains all the benefits from the wars.

This is incredible. Revisiting this. I will recite this to my family on Memorial Day.

0:13 “sometimes I went because I love killing brown people
Truly one of the most powerful videos I’ve seen, I want say thank you to our US Armed Forces for your service and sacrifice.
My grand father fought in ww2, he was a paratrooper in the 101st brigade landed in Normandy the day before D day and went all the way to Berlin. He made it out alive and was able to marry and have my dad but passed away a few years after from all the shock and stuff he had to see and experience. unfortunately I never got to meet him. Remember Harry Friedman

“We the unwilling
Led by the unqualified
To kill the unfortunate
To die for the ungrateful”
When he gets to heaven
To Saint Peter he will tell:
“Just another soldier reporting, Sir. I’ve served my time in hell”
Everyday I try to make time to pledge allegiance to the flag . Even if I do it mentally been making it a habit , and sometimes it's heartbreaking seeing today's age people my own age slander our home , slander our people I might be white , but I am American , and being American we put others before ourselves and sometimes we do need help . But it's been hard at times . But keeping my head up had being thankful for God , Jesus , Holy spirit , and never forget Old Glory . Because God goes hand and hand with Old Glory . Because God has really blessed us more than I can ever appreciate. And if you believe , please don't slander me because I wouldn't slander you because that is a freedom aswell .
God bless all those who have given everything to protect our freedom.
Happy memorial day everyone
God bless the fallen. Long live the republic.
I feel like we're witnessing a modern day history of a ancient warrior told first hand. Like an Achilles or a Hannibal or a Miyamoto Musashi. We are blessed by modern day technologies so we can listen to these modern day warrior philosophers, imo.
Hoorah!!!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Never thought Jocko would make me cry
Happy Memorial Day Everyone
This is one of the few Prager U videos I cannot endorse. There is a fundamental difference between fighting for freedom against an unwanted, occupying force repressing one's own society (as in 1776) and fighting to extend or preserve the hegemony of an expansive US government worldwide.
Yet Prager completely fails to draw that distinction. In this vid, the soldier is praiseworthy if he responded to the government's call – regardless. That's not heroism. It's murder for hire.
A heart touching video… May God Bless all people who served and all those who are presently serving…💕🌺🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Why did you fight in all those distant places that had nothing to do with your country. Sometimes it was really for freedom, but mostly for the political and economic interest of a small elite that despise simplex, working people
Beware of the elites to whom we are just a tool, a pawn, an expendable body. No soldier, marine, sailor, or airman fights for the elites but those modern wars aren't for liberty but for special interests. Beware of the modern media and the current political reality. They serve the elites and not the honest citizenry. ❤ your country and be skeptical of you government.
NEVER FORGET
“I fought against tyranny and kept darkness from consuming the world” That’s an amazing line
