After Jesus’ disciples receive the Holy Spirit, they become God’s temple and the physical embodiment of Jesus on Earth. The New Testament writers show us that followers of Jesus carry the responsibility to live as royal priests forward into eternity, reclaiming the lost calling God gave humanity to represent him and rule the world on his behalf. And the story of the Bible ends where it began: in a garden with humans serving and ruling as God’s royal priests forever.

One change I’d suggest with the video: Biblically speaking, I believe the Royal Priesthood (aka Priesthood of the Believer) was not forfeited after the Fall with Adam and Eve as this video states, but rather later on in Exodus & Leviticus with the Priesthood of Aaron (professional priests) that lasted 1,500 years. Gen 4:3-5 shows Cain and Able functioning in the capacity of priest as well as Noah in Genesis 8:20 building an altar. God centralized the priesthood under the Levites as shown through Heb 10:1-4; 9:9, & 23-24). Professional priesthood (aka the Levitical order) ended with Christ’s death and the tearing of the curtain separating the Holy of Holies from common people (aka the laity). 1 Peter 2:9 says all believes are priests. Like Martin Luther, the laity/laymen, are priests in the workplace, marketplace, neighborhood, church gatherings, government, business, home and to the ends of the earth.

  15. I have learned SO much from Bible Project since discovering their videos a few years ago through their Youversion Bible reading plans. These theme videos have helped me see how the Old Testament pointed to Jesus. When I was young, I used to think the OT was just not really relevant to Christianity, and that as a believer I really only needed to read the New Testament — how wrong I was! The foreshadowing of Christ throughout – from Genesis to the psalms and prophets has just opened my understanding so much! I know Him better and see how to follow Him! I am a priest in my home, and Jesus is our High Priest! Amazing, Beautiful, Life-Transforming. Thank you! ❤

  17. This video reminds me of the Catholic teaching of the common priesthood of the laity in conjunction with the clerical priesthood of ordained priests.

    When I bless my children with holy water, I perform a priestly action for example.
