Two moral giants.
More shunned proof that the civil war was initially about economics, not freeing slaves. Lincoln did not even trust his own party to do the right thing once the war ended!
In Short Talk is cheap.
Sorry for this boom shakalaka!… Great video! Here goes nothing… Lincoln did more to free the slaves than anyone alive today!! When they say yours can stick it where they want to… Pick a hole.
True.
Lincoln also had a abolitionist faction of the Republican Party that he had to contend with, while also garnering support of the old guard Republicans with a battlefield victory (before September 1862, the Union Army had been defeated time and time again). He had to navigate and deliever on his promises to both factions.
What's with this British accent sh!t? Sowell is an American, ffs.
Abraham Lincoln aka honest Abe the greatest orator and the greatest president America ever had.❤❤❤❤
And he got killed for freeing the slaves
Good short breakdown on Lincoln's task which was awesome complex, he realised the bulk of the voting public was borderline to keep slaves in not just in South but north as well, how did he achieve his aims looks almost impossible looking back at those times and values. Many have opinions and ignore the complex problems he had to deal with.
The ignorance of the revisionists of real history is staggering
Summary: President Lincoln took huge politcal risks in his Emancipation Proclamation, at a time when it wasn't so popular in the north & thr south.
So it was altruism masquerading as pragmatism.
And if he had gone further (as people today morally look down on him for "not doing enough like I would have"), then very likely the whole thing would have failed and he would have gotten nothing.
And my opinion:
People today in poltics also often get nothing good because they push too far & don't make a good self interest case for others.
Drat!
