Here’s the good news:
The secret authorities are not coming with guns to take you away to a prison camp in a frozen wasteland for speaking out against the government. They did that in Communist nations in the twentieth century. It’s not going to occur here in America or in Western Europe..
Here’s the problem:.
The secret authorities aren’t coming for you since they don’t need to. There are ways to shut you up and keep you quiet that do not involve physical force. The powers that be– and that now includes significant corporations, the instructional facility, the media, and the government– can just kick you off the Internet, put you on a no-fly list, and bar you from using the banking system..
We can explain scenario number one as difficult totalitarianism and circumstance second as soft totalitarianism..
There are huge differences between them, but in the end, you arrive at the same place– submission and silence..
To grasp the hazard of totalitarianism– difficult or soft– it’s important to understand exactly what it suggests..
According to the popular political scholar Hannah Arendt, a totalitarian society is one in which an ideology looks for to displace all prior customs and institutions, with the objective of bringing all aspects of society under control of that ideology..
The state actually manages and specifies truth. Truth is whatever the rulers decide it is..
These rulers may say something like ….
Guy can have infants..
Or,.
Skin color is more vital than character.
Or,.
The American transformation was combated not for flexibility, however to secure the slave interests of the colonists..
Or,.
Those who withstand a vaccine mandate are enemies of the people.
And insist you not only believe it however verify it.
If you do not, you might lose your task, your service, and your good name..
That dystopian future, of course, is now. And, we’re only at the start of this procedure..
Where does it lead?
To less freedom– that much we understand.
Again, no weapons, no violence– we simply go along. No one kicks the door down. We open the door and invite them in..
The more info the government has about you, and the more the tech sector can see what you’re doing and stating online, the simpler it is to monitor your habits..
For how long before the government creates a digital profile of each resident?.
And how would the federal government use that profile?.
It may go like this:.
If you do socially favorable things– as specified by the government– nothing truly changes. You can do whatever you desire. Maybe you’re even rewarded for great behavior– a quicker internet connection, favored medical treatment, and even the best seats at a concert. If you do socially unfavorable things– once again as specified by the government– you lose privileges. You’re pushed to the margins of society. You become a non-person.
Sound improbable?.
It should not. It’s taking place today in China..
It occurred in Russia and Eastern Europe not that long back. Talk with anybody who lived behind the Iron Curtain, and they will tell you we are headed down a dangerous roadway..
” No,” you state, “It can’t occur here– in the land of the free and the home of the brave.”.
I would not be so sure..
Ronald Reagan notoriously observed that flexibility can be lost in a single generation. That’s since the human inclination is not towards liberty, but security..
Flexibility is a value, not an instinct..
It involves personal responsibility and threat. Security requires little threat and little individual responsibility. So, it includes little flexibility.
That’s why every new generation should be taught the supreme value of flexibility and develop the self-control to maintain it..
Naturally, individuals who wish to take away our liberty state they’re doing it in the name of compassion– for the lots of victims of oppression..
Unlike the Bolsheviks of the old Soviet Union, the left of today’s America gets its way not by shedding blood, but by shedding tears.
