Tough Questions on Obamacare and Religious Liberty
On March 25, two families will come before the Supreme Court to argue that an Obamacare mandate violates their religious liberty. Obamacare requires that employers provide protection of abortion-inducing drugs and devices in their health plans, no matter spiritual or moral objection.
The Greens, who established Hobby Lobby, and the Hahns, who run Conestoga Wood Specialties, are Christians who say that this government mandate breaches their flexibility to supply health coverage that’s constant with their beliefs. If they do not abide by the required, these household organizations might deal with government fines of up to $100 per staff member per day.
Sarah Torre, a policy expert at The Heritage Foundation, answers some difficult questions on spiritual liberty, and why it matters to all Americans.
