Can We Trust the Gospels, Even If They Were Transmitted Orally?
Was there a long-lost source for the Gospels, commonly known as “Q”? Could the Gospels have been written from the common knowledge of eyewitnesses? In this interview with Melissa Dougherty (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooWJh9iqae8), J. Warner discusses how the gospels were transmitted and the evidence we would need to believe in the existence of a “Q” document.

It seems that oral tradition is more akin to an actual teaching and learning style exhibited by many cultures. But modern Christians seem to suggest oral tradition is story time. To me that makes zero sense
Beginning September 23, 2017, and continuing for the past 7 years, I've been going through my "Revelation 12" events and awakening… Many things have happened and many things have been revealed, but there's no time or space on here for all of that…but, on December 16, 2023, I was awakened between 2:30 and 3:00 am and instructed to write something…
" I'm at the beginning of every 3 and the end of every 8… I'm the Hi between the O's… I'm at the beginning of every life and the end of every death… I'm Q, the Eternal One… The source within… Incarnation complete."
The End
100% agreed "Q" if it ever existed was most likely an oral tradition
part of the problem is our definiton of "tradition" is it suffers the same fate as "religion"; it automatically gets relegated to the pile of "opinion"
Still the most underrated channel on YT.
The ending sound is also extremely loud. My upstairs and downstairs neighbors for sure can hear that. I don't think you intended to have the cool, 'grabby' intro and exit sounds to be twice as loud as you speaking. Be blessed.
The volume of your excellent brief talks is half as loud as the (OVERLY) loud intro. It's been that way for quite some time now. How about adjusting that. Please.
Maybe you can fix/adjust the intro sound/music that blasts & jars the environment around my speakers everytime I click on your video. Unless I remember & turn the volume way down first, I will bother anyone sleeping or doing something they need to concentrate on. I know one YouTuber who was the same way, but they changed. Please.
Jesus is the Torah made flesh. Everything he taught is in the Torah and that is why the Jews were expecting the Messiah to come but God blinded them so his message could reach the whole world.
I agree. The Apostles heard Jesus preach the same message over and over and over and over and over again, they pondered the teachings over and over and over and over again, then they came together to discuss these issues from time to time, then went out and taught these things over and over and over again. We know there were more people who had witnessed Jesus than just the 12, and thus any blank could easily be filled in with one of the thousands of followers who were there. We see this for instance with accounts of what Jesus said on trial, even though none of the Apostles were present.
outstanding explanation of the oral tradition….God bless you.
Gilly wife of Mark
I read Burton L. Mack's book on the legendary Q document. It is balderdash. That book is 100% Mack's tacky attempt to become an academic celebrity.
Well said!! Oral traditions have gotten a bum rap for too long. 🙂 Thank you JWW and Melissa!!
