We Studied the Law in the Bible (Here’s What We Found)
In this video, we explore the importance of the ancient laws in the Old Testament. Why are they in the Bible, and what do they say to followers of Jesus? We explore how they fulfilled a strategic purpose in one key phase of the biblical story, leading up to Jesus who fulfilled the law and summarized it in the call to love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

Just make it automatic so no one can do them
In my Bible it says there are ceremony, civil, and moral laws in the bible. We are now under moral law which the 10 commandments are under. The sabbath does matter.
The 10 COMMANDMMENTS were NEVER annulled! "Thou shalt NOT KILL"?! Are you planning to MURDER someone? Duh?!
Torah is NOT The Law. Torah means INSTRUCTION. LEARN.
You guys and your videos are such a blessing to the world! Thank you so much! May God Himself bless you forever for leading so many people, including myself, to our Lord! In my Lord Jesus Christ Holy name I pray. Amen❤
"For this is the love of God: that we keep His commandments and His commandments are not burdensome"
"Those who claim to abide in Christ ought to walk as He walked" 1st John. The one who loves fulfills the law because loving is defined as doing the entirety of God's law. I feel like you avoided the question of how much of the Torah are Christians obligated to follow. Jeremiah makes it clear that the New Covenant is only for Israel and that the New Covenant is the Torah written on our hearts, Jesus makes it clear that the New Covenant is for Christians.
Why do you ignore where? Moses says to choose between the blessing and the curse, between good and evil, between life and death, and that this law is easy and that it's not far from you? Further, where does he say that we are incapable of following it. Moses says that they will not and they will be sent into exile, but where does he say that they are incapable?
The law
If (and with some, it's a BIG IF) You follow the Original 10 commandments you will be just fine 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
✝️🇺🇸😃
God has a plan 🙂
I for one will follow God's plan 😃😃😃😃😃
why do you cal him Jesus when his correct name is Yahshua ?
Thank you so much
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life. (Leviticus 17:11, ESV)
Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. (Hebrews 9:15, ESV)For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. (Hebrews 9:16, ESV)For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. (Hebrews 9:17, ESV)Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood. (Hebrews 9:18, ESV) The law was full filled
We dont fulfill the law by love .. Jesus fulfilled it for us … we just recieve the blessings
Love is obedience to the law. The law is the CREATOR'S OPINION.
Manufacturers recommendations if you will.
Instructions for best possible outcome.
When where how to feast and ceremony.
How to conduct yourself appropriately. Jesus was speaking to Hebrew folks who have understanding. Modern people don't have understanding as simple as what day is it or what month or when does a day begin or end. 😢 to study the law is the activity show respect towards the CREATOR. An action that is utterly under rated in the USA, to our demise 😢
The entire Psalm 119, 176 verses… all about keeping the commandments and statutes! Ask the Catholic Church who changed the sabbath!
Jesus wanted to lighten their load. The legal eagles had made it heavy. However, doing the right thing, even in one’s heart, left up to personal interpretation…Well, our conduct and our spirit is important, developing both, at the same time. Maybe developing the spirit before the conduct is better. Having a good spirit will help direct good conduct.
Eh. I don't think offering a burnt virgin woman as a sacrifice, or stoning the gays, or someone for picking up sticks during the Sabbath, or committing genocide even against babies and ripping pregnant women open, or cursing people for begging for food and killing them also for complaining about you killing too much…
I don't think that's righteous but, sure, you do you.
God help me 😭 too much confusion. So do i repent of my sins by the Holy Spirit’s power or not!?!?!?! HELP GOD PLS IVE BEEN DEALING WITH this for like so long 😭
I’m an agnostic christian, or more accurately, I’m a skeptic half-assed christian. If I was created by God, then God gave me a critical mind capable of logic, reasoning, and doubt. A mind like that does not easily turn to blind faith. God’s silence is indistinguishable from His non-existence. I cannot blindly trust the void to be kind, for I have made that mistake before, and I will not do so again. However, I still try to keep the Law. The ten commandments are one of the founding texts of modern ethics and customs, so at least trying to keep most of them requires very little actual effort.
Torah is the Truth , and the Truth is Yahusha !!!
Love this 🫂🫂✌🏼💙
This is very very good, however, Christ said that the law and prophets won't be fulfilled until heaven and earth pass away. Matthew 5:17-20
So we are to do the law of yah under grace and faith in Christ. It doesn't mean to not keep the commands of Yah.
We just don't have to sacrifice animals anymore or answer to an earthly priest now.
We are not under the law. Follow Paul for salvation by faith alone.
FOLLOW Jesus – NOT MOSES –
and no they're not the same thing.
One is bondage – the Other is Freedom.
One thing I never understood is why God would make us defective in the first place. If he's capable of repairing our hearts, why wouldn't he make them the right way in the first place and avoid this whole messy world?
“We love for God first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
So how do we love God? By letting him love us. How do we love others? By letting God love others through us in the person of Jesus Christ.
Your animations makes it easy to understand and follow the sequence of the Bible. Thank you❤
If you love the Father the way He loves you, then you will obey every law that you can. But know, too, you are living in sin. You cannot be perfect, but you need to try your best for perfection.
Tell me one of the Laws, statutes and judgements we aren't required to obey? Send me just one.
I have a question which is bothering me (just wanna say that my knowledge of the Bible is not great).
In Deuteronomy God talks to Moses and presents him with the 10 commandments (where the 5th one is do not murder). Then (if I have understood correctly) Moses says and listens to the other laws, i.e. relating to sexual relations where it says the punishment for adultery is stoning (to death). This is one that I am concerned by, does it not seem brutal? And also does it not seem to contradict the do not murder?
(I have just started reading the New Testament but I saw some info on this and since I have been an atheist for many years and recently came to God these questions started to bother me).
Thanks the Bible Project! 🎉🎉🎉
where are your bible references for Moses final speech to Israel knowing the will not follow Gods law? or Isaiah saying the promised Messiah will lead all people to obedience to the law? No bible references then its just your opinion in my book
That’s exactly what the Bible is, just a fictionalized history of the ancient Israelites, which has absolutely nothing to do with our modern era. It’s their story, not ours.
We have to keep the 10 commandments because The Lord Jesus Christ said “if you love Me, keep my commandments”
The laws have been fulfilled.
It was a good and helpful video, thank you. But it fell apart when you got to the New Testament. You correctly stated that Jesus reaffirmed God's law (Matthew 5:17) but misinterpreted what the Old Testament meant by "God's Love." ""God's Love" is used 320 times in the Old Testament, and every time (except one), the OT defines "God's Love" as utterly destroying the Gentiles in the 60 wars where God intervened to destroy Gentiles. If you actually read the Bible, that's the message, "only Jews get into heaven." Christians are gentiles, not Jews.
Wow, you dedicate a lot of time to fairy tales
Don't even read that old piece of crap book. Live your own life do not be tied down with what some idiot said 2000 years ago. If you want to believe in fairy tales then go ahead and read the most ridiculous story even told.
Very shallow and simplistic way of looking at things, devoid of any true understanding of some of the most valuable books of the Bible. Also containing incorrect statements resulting from that same lack of understanding. Kind of like someone changing the spark plugs on someone else's car and wanting to be looked at as a qualified mechanic while not even aware the spark plugs are supposed to be correctly gapped before they are installed. Not impressed, at least not favorably.
Thank you for the explanation! Helps and wants me to learn more! God bless❤
nope . The ten commandments are all the laws I need . They are complete
