Everybody knows what happened on 9/11?
They almost definitely do not understand why it occurred. Here’s what took location on that fateful Tuesday, what the United States of America did about it, and why it’s one of the most crucial days in American history.
September 11, 2001, started as a beautiful early morning on the East Coast. America was at peace– not involved in any foreign war. Travelers boarded their early flights, headed to organization meetings or to visit family members across the country.
Tragically, they were not the only ones who boarded aircrafts that morning. Nineteen Islamic terrorists, arranged by the terrorist group that calls itself al-Qaeda, directed by its leader, Osama bin Laden, and drawn from four Arab countries, likewise boarded airplanes that morning.
All of the aircrafts– the terrorists were split among 4 of them– were cross-country flights, so their tanks were filled to capacity with jet fuel. Within an hour after takeoff, these 19 terrorists would pirate the airplanes, extremely murder defenseless stewardesses and pilots, and kill 3,000 innocent individuals.
At 8:46 a.m., a pirated American Airlines flight leaving Boston crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, the worldwide symbol of America’s financial power. Seventeen minutes later on, a second hijacked aircraft, likewise departing from Boston, crashed into the World Trade Center’s South Tower. The 2 planes, gushing their jet fuel, sparked fires that burned hot adequate to compromise the buildings’ structural integrity.
Hundreds of New York firemens and cops officers raced up the towers to save the victims. Rather unexpectedly, the structures collapsed, eliminating 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officer, and countless trapped office employees.
A third hijacked airplane, leaving Washington’s Dulles Airport, crashed into the Pentagon, the head office of the U.S. armed force; 125 Pentagon workers were killed.
The travelers of a fourth pirated airplane– this one leaving Newark International Airport quickly after the others– had simply sufficient time to find out, through their mobile phone, of the other attacks.
