You probably think your opinions matter.

You probably think you’re an individual with unique experiences, thoughts and ambitions.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but according to current leftist orthodoxy, you’re wrong. You see, your opinion only matters relative to your identity—and where that identity ranks on the hierarchy of intersectionality.

If you’re now thinking, “What the hell are you talking about?” you haven’t spent much time on a modern college campus.

Intersectionality is a form of identity politics in which the value of your opinion depends on how many victim groups you belong to. At the bottom of the totem pole is the person everybody loves to hate—the straight, white male.

And who’s at the top? Well, it’s very hard to say, because new groups claim victim status all the time. No one can keep track.
So, how does this intersectionality thing play out?

Something like this:

Let’s say you’re a gay, white woman. Your opinion matters, but less than that of a gay, black woman. Why? Because while all women are oppressed by the patriarchy, and all gays are oppressed by the heterosexual majority, blacks have a victim status that whites obviously don’t.

Of course, a gay black woman’s victim status is less than that of a black trans woman, who ranks below a black, Muslim trans woman, and so on. The more memberships you can claim in “oppressed” groups, the more aggrieved you are, and the higher you rank.

Get it? Good, because it’s about to get even more complicated.

Intersectionality takes your victim status and uses it as the basis for creating alliances with other victim groups. Thirty or forty years ago, activists encouraged racial solidarity among blacks to combat oppression. But today, that’s not enough. Today’s activists demand blacks make common cause with other allegedly “oppressed” people—gays, lesbians, transgenders, Palestinians, Native Americans, whomever.

Here’s the logic:

A black gay and a Hispanic gay may not belong to the same victim group racially, but they do belong to the same victim group on the basis of their sexuality. By focusing on the places where various victim identities intersect, intersectionality creates a united “us” versus “them” paradigm: righteous victims rising up together to fight the oppressor, those dreaded straight, white men.

This explains why at a rally protesting the treatment of Palestinians by Israel, you might see a contingent of lesbian activists. That’s intersectionality at work. They’re so united by their victim status that it doesn’t matter if Islamists throw gays off of buildings or murder female family members who defy their father’s wishes. Victim solidarity trumps all other considerations.

The term “intersectionality” was coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw, a professor of law at Columbia University.

She explains that intersectionality “was my attempt to make feminism, anti-racist activism, and anti-discrimination law do what I thought they should—highlight the multiple avenues through which racial and gender oppression were experienced…”

To Crenshaw, America is a terrible place full of victim groups, each with their particular set of grievances. Why shouldn’t these victim groups get together and form a political coalition unified by the belief that the majority society has harmed them?

  5. A straight white male being at the bottom of the totem pole, and being the one everyone loves to hate when that is THEE largest group of oppressors there is. The obsession whites, both men and women have with being the victim is both laughable and disgusting. No, you don’t have to experience the trauma and discrimination to know that it is wrong but you also don’t get to discredit and disregard those who have been victimized for centuries. Any idiot can see that the very white man that you stated that lies on the bottom of the totem pole, is the same white man with all the power. The straight white male makes the laws, enforces the laws, etc.. If you ask me, the video is completely and utterly BIASED and opinionated. You started the video stating that, again, the white man is the most hated and at the bottom of the totem pole and ended with, “..but what do I know, I’m just a straight white male”. And I ask the same question, what do you know? What do you know about being targeted because your skin is a darker hue, what do you know about being stripped of your history and force fed BS bc it makes another race look better, what do you know?

In escaping from the academy into the mainstream, intersectionality morphed into both a crude tallying of oppression points and an assumption that social-justice struggles fit neatly together—with all of the marginalized people on one side and the powerful on the other.

  19. This video is an inaccurate depiction overall; yet, "American is the least racist country on the planet," is maybe the single most inaccurate statement. There are countries where racism does not even exist on this planet, because the construct of race was never inherent or relevant to the foundation of the nation in the way that white supremacy is at the foundation of the U.S. Also, there is still a lot of racism here…

  24. I won’t say she is transphobic/ homophobic but I will say that I really don’t like the organization she works for, mainly because of Ben Shapiro and some of the other speakers. Ben Shapiro legit called asexuals and aromatics selfish for not having a partner and spending Valentine’s Day alone. There was also a video where one of the speakers said babies are narcissists for needing t be cared for. Narcissism is a mental disorder and if all babies are narcissists then that means that we all are narcissists and mentally ill

  30. In a nutshell it's a ploy to give people minority status who otherwise would be entitled to nothing. Now gay white men and white women are defacto victims. Now they carve out attention and resources for themselves. Now they compete with actual minorities drowning out our voices and taking over the narrative.

    But the point is intersectionality is so limited to few factors that it degrades such our unique individuals into categories and labels.

    WM racism is the catalyst to all the current social destruction in the West.
    Prager is an extension of modern WM racism giving birth to alphabet ppl's platforms.
    Had WM practiced the Golden Rule, there would've never been abolitionists, suffragists, or feminists.
    Had WM practiced the Golden Rule, there would've never been intersectionist or Identitarians… just humans, good, bad, and indifferent.

  38. My parents sort of taught me this once I grew older while getting into high school and was about to get a job at the time. I am a straight white male and so both my mother and father who are straight and white , and they told me that if you were to say something that is hurtful that I for some reason didn't know was hurtful, I would be literally sent to prison or beaten up. My parents also taught me a situation such as applying for a job such as me being the straight white male applying for a job and then a gay white male is also applying for the same job, the company will most likely choose the gay white male over the straight white male because they rank higher, but if the situation was if I the straight white male and the gay white male both got the job, the gay white male will likely have a higher pay rate than me. Both my parents suffer the same thing that I also do. Also mentioning "Equal Opportunity Employment" is not that so equal, like how I explained the situation at the beginning of this comment, it does not include everyone. The video explains how straight white males and females are at the bottom of everything else and how I explained in this comment how straight white males and females in the scenario of seeking employment are more likely to be denied a job offer than everyone else who ranks above. It is sad to see how society has become to this since this is just to make more division happen than to unite.
