Unbelievable? Is There Enough Evidence Beyond the Gospels to Make Their Testimony Reliable?
Most skeptics reject the reliability of the New Testament Gospels for one reason or another. As a skeptic reading the Gospels for the first time, what was of particular interest to J. Warner Wallace? how did his investigative background inform his observations? J. Warner joins Kurt Jaros on the Veracity Hill Podcast to discuss these questions.

Jim Wallace is describing that thing in the movie where the detective throws all the evidence on the wall and stares at it then the truth hits him.
Pretty cool đ.
It was that pattern in the miracles that Athanasius noticed (I read âon the Trinityâ because of the forward by C. S. Lewis). Every day, God turns water into wine: rain is taken up by a grapevine, grapes are produced with the right mix of sugars and tannins inside and wine yeast (the grape bloom on the skin) and if left to themselves, ferment. Every day, God heals the sick: the biochemical energies that He placed within you are constantly renewing the body. No physician can heal so much as a papercut – if itâs on a corpse. They only enable the healing God placed within, get it âunstuckâ sometimes. Every day, God still the storms. In the book of Job, He is described as the One who treads down the waves of the sea; ie, walks on water. He âfeeds the five thousandâ all the time, creating masses of fish from a breeding pair, and bushels of grain from handfuls of seed. Some miracles are new creation: He WILL raise the dead, but thatâs mostly future. I had read the Bible a lot when I was young…but I wasnât bright enough to see that pattern . When I read it, it tipped me over, and I said: âok. Iâm yours. Just donât scare me to death, ok?â
Even when I was a belligerent agnostic, I couldnât quite get over His amazing answers to people. I couldnât admit He was God, but I had trouble figuring out WHAT to make of Him. The pattern in the miracles was the final straw.
It was the words of the Bible that had fufill prophesies and given me many reliable advices
I'm so amazed by Jesus' words in the four Gospels. They seem to be so divine and genius. Like the sermon on the mount, the 'I Am's' in John, and His parables, and so many more. His words convince me that He is the Son of God!
Hi J
It was God first. He stepped into my life and I couldn't deny Him. Then I started seeing all the proof.
