Who the Angel of the Lord Is (and What the Angel Does) • Spiritual Beings Ep. 5
The Angel of the Lord is one of the most fascinating spiritual beings in the Hebrew Scriptures. Every time this figure appears, he’s depicted as if he is God, but also an angel sent by God. In this video, we explore this paradoxical character and discover how he prepares us for the grand claims that will be made about Jesus in the New Testament.
Special thanks to Dr. Michael S. Heiser, author of “The Unseen Realm,” for script consulting on this series.

Calling Jesus YHWH is a bit of a stretch. And that's where Christians lose me. When it comes to this matter (Jesus=God) I believe the word of Yeshua over the word of man.
The angel of the Lord was a john wick version of Jesus in the OT
The angel of the Lord appears many times to Jacob, to Hagar, to Moses from the burning bush. He speaks as if he were HaShem by Jacob and Hagar he is acknowledged as HaShem and to Moses he names Himself from the burning bush. In other instances in the books of Daniel and Ezekiel for example they have a vision of the ancient of days in His heavenly realm which is described differently from the glorious man like figure that speaks as if he were Adonai. In the gospels we read of the transfiguration of Christ on the mount revealed to 3 disciples in all of His heavenly glory…..like the angel of the Lord. Like the Pharisees thought “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Right in front of their noses was the answer.
Hi ! You need to remember the three persons received by Abraham (or should I say Abraham was invited haha). How many persons ? 3 ? So all three are Jesus-Christ ? No just one of them. The first one is The FATHER, the second one The Son and the last one The Holy Spirit aka the Angel of the Lord (because later just two angels went to Sodome and Gomorrha). But who is the angel then ? Agar in the desert, Moses in the bush, and…Daniel ! (and Ezekiel and Zakarhia). So for me, the Angel of the Lord is Gabriel aka the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth that came to say all truth (just as he baptised with a new name Jacob and talked to Mary and told her the name of her son). But hey that just a thinking exercise !….or it's not 😉 take care and God bless !
It can be credited to JK Chesteron the discovery that if God is love, needs must be never alone from eternity. Before any creation, like that of time and space, or before any before, God is love. But love implies lover, beloved and the medium for that relation, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. The trinity of persons in God is not a problem: it is the only solution. The invention of personality takes place before any before. Anyway, how could an impersonal God endow its creation with personality if God were not personal? Christian faith is unique in that particular. We can find personal Gods in paganism, but since they are gods among gods, they lack this feature of being from all eternity, as, for instance, by Hesiods Theogony.
One apparent (not real) Bible contradiction is that many times the Bible records an angel speaking to someone, and then it says God is talking with the person. For example, Exodus 19 and 20 say God himself gave the Ten Commandments to the Israelites, but Acts 7:53, Galatians 3:19, and Hebrews 2:2 say the Law was given by angels. How do we resolve this apparent contradiction? The answer is given in Revelation 1 and 22. In these chapters, an angel talks with the apostle John and gives John a vision in which Jesus is talking with John. If someone speaks a message to you through a television, who is giving the message – the television or the person? The answer is both because the person is speaking to you through the television. Angels often delivered messages through visions, and in the visions, Jesus (God in a body) spoke with people. Who gave the message – the angel or Jesus? The answer is both because Jesus spoke with the people through visions given by angels.
However, Jesus himself sometimes appeared in the Old Testament. For example, Genesis 19:24 says, “Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven.” In this case, the LORD in the form of a person who was walking on earth and had just talked with Abraham called down sulfur and fire from the LORD in Heaven. The LORD walking on earth was Jesus, and he called down fire and sulfur from either God the Father in Heaven or himself, because he is everywhere. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” and the “only begotten” in the Greek means unique, one of a kind. Although Christians are children of God, Jesus is the extra special unique Son of God who created the universe. Since Jesus is the unique Son of God and God in a body, when someone sees God in a body, he is seeing Jesus. Jesus said Abraham had seen him in John 8:56, which says, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” Jesus said Isaiah had seen him in John 12:41 “Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.” Abraham saw Jesus in Genesis 18 and 19. Isaiah 6 records how Isaiah saw Jesus.
Very interesting. Still confused but I’m fully in.
I am watching your content so much. Way better and uplifting than anime
Well considering all four books and bible was heavily changed you must also quote from Quran as well because it was accepted as unchanged and was proven to be not changed with Qufic Qurans discovery ❤
So basically The Angel of the Lord is Jesus and Jesus is God so "The Angel Of The Lord" is another name for God. Mind blown I thought it was just talking about a mere angel
Love it!
It’s Gods representatives
Ohkay I see the angel of the Lord is like a telephone Booth's telephone and Yahweh was speaking through that telephone..
The angel is merely a cellphone for Yahweh, it's a simple answer. God speaks in 1st person through the angel, just like you would if you were using facetime on an iphone.
Since we are able to be “Reborn“ in Christ through baptism both physical and spiritual, wouldn’t it make sense that we could also Die before our physical death? And wouldn’t they sorta be one and the same?
I say this because it is said no one can see Yahweh without dying, but what if that means that their individual identity dies rather than simply the body…
Something to think about🙏🏼
Shalom
0:03 not sure originals authors thought those realities were overlapping. Actually, they thought heavens were above the earth. Many passages in the Bible support this idea of heaven being above up in the sky. They didn’t have the same concept as intergalactic space we today have but when looking at a night full of stars with the Milky Way, they probably thought something like « there is a sky beyond the sky with this gigantic cloud… and maybe beyond this sky is there another sky » . So what they called heaven is most likely what we today call space.
That’s confusing so in John 17 Christ prays to himself if God is one person in three persons why do we baptize in the name of the father son and Holy Ghost why just God it’s all the same person
Why does nobody else do this? Am i not human
I AM an ANGEL OF THE LORD❤ IS THAT WHY I KEEP REFERRING TO MYSELF AS I AM HE? IM STRUGGLING WITH NICOTINE BUT NO MATTER WHAT I AM AN ANGEL OF THE LORD. PRAISE ADONAI, ELOHIM, YESHUA, YAHWEH SABOATH, YAHWEH, WE ARE HERE
The "Angel of The Lord" is actually The Holy Spirit.
You keep saying his name! I actually prayed today and apology, sincerely, for accidentally saying his name while I was talking to myself. Are we not supposed to do that? We're not supposed to say his name. We're supposed to say Elohim Adonai. Tetragrammatron and all that. Praise be.
Sending this to my muslim friends who keep asking me, why we worship 3 gods 😅
In Revelation one it states that Jesus sent His angel to John Rev. 1.The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Amen
