Adequate service is the norm, but most customers really notice and appreciate exceptional service by leaving a tip appropriate for the fantastic service. Servers should be allowed to negotiate how much, if any wage they want from the restaurant. Treat them as independent contractors. I know when I was a server the little amount I got directly from the restaurant was paltry compared to what I made working directly for the tables I serviced. A simple paradigm shift would go along way to solve this so the servers would get the wage each deserve based on the fee the customers want to pay and the restaurant wouldn't be required to pay as much and would have better servers. I think it would also drive customers to a restaurant that had the best servers because I know there is one restaurant we won't go to simply because they have 2 bad servers and the food just isn't good enough to risk getting them.

Minimum wage need to be reformed – split – into a starting wage and a minimum wage. This gives employers an affordable opportunity to see who is a good fit and an affordable timeframe to train individuals….say 90days – three months to see if an individual will be an asset or a burden. At that point a reasonable minimum wage kicks in and company employees (assets) make a reasonable minimum. This process would also provide vital data to government employment divisions to see who may need training to become an asset worker.

Employees are not the purpose of companies, making money is. How did these entry-level positions become careers? If you want a "living wage", qualify yourself to earn more and go get it.

There would be no need for a minimum wage if all those "couldn't pass through the eye of a needle"-types were decent in the first place.
There won't be a voluntary decent wage in a labor surplus situation (big picture).

I really hope the vid isn’t going to be an argument for lowering the min wage. If so I hope you will also explain how the cost of living should go down as well. People can’t live on $15hr they can only barely survive. The cost of living goes up every year yet greedy corporations and the wealthy expect wages to stay the same or decrease.

On a minimum wage, you would not be able to afford this hair style. Sorry. I am against state-wide minimum wages, but imagine earning 8$/h in San Francisco, where you can't find a SHARED room (not your own, single room) for under 800$/h. And there will ALWAYS be "enterpreneurs" who will abuse the system and offer 8$/h even in downtown SF. We need to do better! It's not fair to present this lady, with this hairstyle as an average min wage employee. Wake up!

I feel it's an okay thing to ask lager corporations as they can deal with the costs. But many small business simply can't. Maybe if property rates and other taxes wort so much they would afford it but government wants both. If so they either get one of two outcomes if it's imposed on a small business without some tax a cut. The business doesnt hire as many people and demands more of those that are already their or it may go under. If they demand normal taxes plus increase in minimum wage and because of that the business goes under everyone losses the person working there instead of earning more they earn nothing and the local government get nothing either in business taxes as they are not longer trading.

No raising the Wage will, like the previous increases, put More People out of work, for 2 Reasons. 1st the majority of Small Businesses are Mom & Pop, and they can't afford that kind of Hourly wage, so they hire less people, and/or dismiss some people they already have{this was done on the Previous increase}. 2nd, they Will Have to Raise prices quite a bit, IE; Coffee $2.00 to $3.00, hamburgers $6.00 to 7-7.50ea, so now people will just eat at home as it's to costly to eat out.. 3rd this suggested wage increase is Mainly the Socialist Dumocrats, way to gain Votes, and to Heck with any Business. If you can't make money, Why have a business, or just keep it a 1 person Business..

It won't. It will hurt the restaurant more than anything. Plus I don't support increasing minimum wage for those who work in the fast food business. If they want higher pay, then they need to go back to school and get a better job.

Part of the issue is capitalistic greed. Another, shareholders. In order to execute on profits, we shipped jobs away or relocated manufacturing. If you aren't making quarterly preview all the time ever higher,, your penalized. Yet a foundational effect is seemingly forgotten by many a corporate ceo or similar. You pay people more money, they spend more money. Effectively combined instead of penny pinching q1 profits, everyone wins. More money for workers who then turn around and spend. And ultimately back into companies profits. And more than they spent. Wealth is not a zero sum game. It's constantly increasing. This concept works easier for larger companies. Who can often just pass the buck, but harder for small companies or individuals. It's a sort of water raises all ships thing.
Federal Minimum wage would be arrived 10/11/hr right now, if it kept up with inflation. Which it did not for years. And that contributed to low wages for so long. They got used to low pay for so long they got pissed about being forced to pay something a lot closer to livable wages.

Too much ignorance here. Here's a reality check for those who don't know how corporate retail America works: president of company, vice pres, CEO, district manager etc all need their mega multi million dollar bonus checks twice a year. Or depending on the company, hundreds of thousands once a year. They have a lifestyle to maintain at your expense little peasant worker. Do not think they are going to suffer or do without so YOU can have a roof over your head. Your financial situation is not their problem. So if they have to make full-timers part time & strip them of ALL benefits, so be it. That is why I have NO respect for CRA.

The minimum wage needs to be completely eliminated. Having and raising minimum wages does not help those who make the minimum wage because the price of everything will go up. Minimum wage causes small businesses to suffer because they can not afford to pay the number of employees needed, and it causes unemployment to go up because businesses must find ways to keep the payroll down which means reducing the job force. The only thing that raising minimum wage does is cause everyone who makes more than minimum wage effectively receive pay cuts because they will not receive the same percentage of pay increase, if any at all. For those who say having a minimum wage protects the employees from working for slave wages, no one is forcing the employees to work for a company that does not pay adequate wages for the job (yes, I know some people will mention prison labor, but that is irrelevant to the open market). If people are willing to work for $1 / hour, then those people must feel that $1 / hour is sufficient for the work performed. If no one is willing to take the job for the wages offered, then the business will need to either increase the amount it is willing to pay or adjust the work required. That is how a free market should function. Government needs to stay out of way because it only gums up the mechanism. Eliminating the minimum wage will reduce the cost of consumer goods and will increase the number of available jobs, even if some of those jobs may pay less than the current minimum; making some income is better than making none at all.

Let me take a guess from watching your other videos no it doesn’t because then companies will have to raise prices to pay their employees and also a lot of people will be released so that the company can make a profit then causing fewer people to be employed
